When I saw my sister Angel on Christmas Eve, I couldn't stop raving about her hair! Her hair looked really shiny and it definitely made her look A LOT younger than her age. Not to say she didn't have good hairstyles before but it seems like they keep getting better each time I see her, and that's because of Liza. My sister has been going to Liza (Terrificuts) for years! I believe my sister goes every 2+ months or so while I go every 1+ year. Let's just say my sister is more concern about her hair than I am on mine. :p I would let my hair grow really long then go to Liza to have it cut really short only to let it grow again. Last time I badly needed a haircut, however, I needed it to happen asap without any appointment....you know how sometimes you wake up in the morning and you just want to chop all your hair off? No? Hmmm....maybe I'm one of the few....Unfortunately, I wasn't able to contact Terrificuts so I went to a shop on Mission Street...HUGE MISTAKE!!! I hate the cut. My hair looks dull. After reading reviews by fellow Yelpers, I checked out Terrificuts website and liked the haircuts. I've been going to another hair salon for quite sometime but it seems they've gotten so popular, it's hard to schedule an appt. So I finally decided to go to Terrificuts. The salon is not big and it amy need an upgrade but Liza is amazing. She's friendly and will do exactly what you want. I got a haircut, color and highlight in August. Then, before Thanksgiving, I decided to get a perm. I love it! She did it exactly how I wanted it. Not too tight, just right! Been coming to Terrificuts for over 10yrs now - ever since they were previously located on a corner shop on Ocean Avenue! First got recommended to Liza when I was in panic mode from a TERRIBLE haircut (they destroyed the bangs)...the BFF recommended Terrificuts, and I've been hooked ever since. Liza has done every kind of event hair for me from prom to wedding (sister in laws wedding) to my bday! She can do updos, curls, you name it! Just show her a pic and she gets right to work. It was my first time getting a perm, I was definitely nervous. Liza was really easy to talk to, and she knew exactly what I wanted after I showed her pictures. I had no idea how much work goes into perming a hair - both Liza and her mom worked on me since I was the first one in the salon. Liza's just a sweet, down to earth person who listens and also just keeps the conversation going. She takes her time to make sure my layers are even and cuts them with a pair of scissors, not a blade. She also recently spent 1.5 hrs on my wedding hair which was absolutely gorgeous. Liza had a couple of trial days too sending me pics of the trial hair dos as a reminder. Everyone looved the hairdo which stayed the whole day. She also took into consideration that I'd take the half-do down myself in the evening, and she gave me tips. My sister and I have been getting our hair cut by Liza off and on for many years. She has a great personality and runs her own business. I hired her do our hair for the day of the wedding. I took magazine clippings of what I wanted for the wedding. She knew exactly what to do. On the try out day she curled my hair with a small curling iron and put extensions in my hair. My hair was still soft and full of healthy curls till the next day. I emailed her a picture to say thank you and to do the same thing on the wedding day. She arrived on time and did my sister's hair first. This allowed me to get breakfast and bath before she started on my hair. I was able to do my makeup while she curled my hair and added extensions. Long overdue update: I've now been getting my hair cut here exclusively for over a year and love it like Kel loves orange soda. To clarify for those who did not grow up in the '90s, that's true love. I had been wanting to perm my hair for over 3 years and finally, finally took the plunge last November. Liza and her mother went to work on my mass of hair (I have A LOT) and I came out 3 hours later with nice bouncy curls. The day after, I realized I had no idea how to tame my new mane, and my curls were way too curly and frizzy and it was all just too much. I texted Liza and she replied right away, stayed late to relax my curls, then sent me home with taming shampoo and conditioner. Eight months later, my curls are still doing great! LIZA is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me. She cuts dry, and never misses! She has NEVER not done a phenomenal job. The funny thing is, she is the opposite of what I have experienced haircutting/styling my entire life. Meaning, usually i go into my stylist, and I love the cut immediately and I feel fantastic that day and I go home and wash it and it feels a bit blah, like I can never achieve what my stylist did that day. When I get a cut by Liza, I hate to say it but I've never looked at it and said WOW I LOVE THIS LET'S GO OUT. Probably because she cuts it dry and doesn't wash it unless I ask or it really needs it. So it looks kinda hurt, but when I go home and wash it, for WEEKS after, my hair feels fantastic and looks great. It just falls correctly, without styling. She really transforms my hair in a way I didn't think was possible. Also, I have not one, but TWO wonderful cowlicks in my hair (one is right on the front of my head) and she really cuts my hair to work with them, and gives me great tips that I would have never realized on my own. I feel like a completely different person. She is also really really good at cutting or styling hair if you bring in a photo; it looks identical to WHATEVER I bring into her. But she is also receptive and honest about the quality, color, and texture of my hair when discussing the look I want. I really appreciate that, rather than someone just 'doing their best', and not really talking about options with me. Also she is the nicest person you could ever meet. I love her! And I feel a little guarded writing such a glowing review because I don't want her to get TOO popular (selfishly haha). But yes, she is the best. And she always has food and snacks. I've been going to Liza since I was 14 years old. I'm 23 now. She used to live two blocks away from my house and now she lives like 15 min away by car, but I STILL stay loyal. I'm writing this review for my sister. She has only recieved two haircuts at a salon her ENITRE life and shes 22. The first time she was traumatized and she vowed to never go into another salon. She is at the very least what you call TENDER HEADED! the slightest touch to her head and she is about to cry! I managed to convince her after reading the reviews here on yelp to go in and get a haircut, she needed one bad. Her hair had no shape, looked dull, and flat! We took in a picture of what she wanted (long layers) and Liza did better than the picture!
