The staff is courteous and professional. The reason for the one-star review is because before I even went into the shop, I had been in contact with them by e-mail. I made them aware that when I purchased glasses in the past, I had to get them re-made several times. Terri Optics gave the impression that I could re-do them as much as needed until they worked for me. Upon going into the shop and making the purchase, they re-iterated that they could be re-made. I also informed them again that I usually have to get glasses re-made more than once. I purchased glasses, wore them for a week, and there was something wrong with the prescription or lens. I have to use progressive lenses and have worn this style for my entire life so I know how they work and how to use them; this wasn't user error. The optician implied the prescription may be incorrect and had me pay for an exam to get a new one. They re-made them with the new prescription, but I was having the same exact issue as the first ones. I contacted them again by e-mail and was informed my insurance only pays for one re-do and that there's nothing they can do now. Now I have a $400 paperweight. I attempted to work with my insurance to get another re-do, but was denied. I attempted a credit card dispute and was denied because they're treating it as any typical item: I walked out with it and should've made sure it was working before leaving. Nobody made any attempt to correct the issue, not a partial refund or anything. They still made an additional $400 from my insurance so they wouldn't be out for refunding my out-of-pocket cost, especially since glasses are over priced anyway. I would've never bought from them had I been informed I couldn't re-do them. I was led on from the beginning I could've done so. Update: Upon re-reading the receipt they submitted to my credit card, it specifically states: "progressive lenses carry a onetime redo / exchange warrantee". My only redo was paid for by my insurance because they themselves allow for a redo of any glasses they pay for. Terri Optics never offered a redo using their warrantee. Based on this, I should've been given two redos: one through their warrantee, and one through my insurance. read more

Unfortunately I never got to step foot into this place because of the very bad experience booking an appointment for a simple eye exam. I saw that Terri Optics was very well-reviewed online and I saw they were featured in Westchester Magazine years back so I decided to give them a try when I saw they were on the approved provider list for my insurance provider Davis Vision. Also I am a very big proponent of supporting small businesses and would much rather put the money in a small business owners pocket than a chain vision place. On Monday I called a very nice receptionist to book an appointment but I was told that the Davis Vision computer system was down and that she was not able to book me until the system was up. Fair enough. So I left my name and phone number and was told she would call me as soon as the computer system was operating and she could book an appointment. I was told she had a list of people who were waiting to be booked and she would call them back once the system was back up. A few days passed and still nothing. I called back and was told the computer system was still down. I had even mentioned how crazy it was that the Davis Vision computer system would be down this long. She said it was down for over a week! She suggested I reach out to Davis Vision and complain to them, as she thought they may fix the computer system sooner if they got complaints from insureds. Made sense to me, so I gave Davis a call. Davis Vision was confused by the claim that the computer system was down because on their end it was up and other providers were readily taking appointments. Davis contacted Terri Optics and it turns out that Terri Optics, not Davis was having computer problems. The reason why providers need to get onto Davis Vision's system has nothing to do with scheduling appointments but instead is to verify eligibility. After hearing this I was extremely angry because all the Terri Optics people had to do was pick up the phone and verify eligibility but instead said the computer system was down! How lazy can you be? The Davis Vision person verified eligibility with Terri Optics over the phone in less than a minute and worked with me to try to book an appointment. Davis Vision was very helpful in trying to book me an appointment but apparently only two doctors there take Davis Vision with very limited availability and the next appointment wasn't until 3 weeks or so out. The Davis Vision person gave the receptionist a phone number she could call to verify eligibility while the computer problems were being sorted out. So suffice it to say, I've decided to go elsewhere, not only for not being able to see an eye doctor for three weeks but because how much effort I had to go through to even schedule a simple appointment. Imagine how much business they were losing to this laziness! If that's how you're treated in even trying to do something as simple as booking an appointment I wasn't confident in the quality of the services I would receive. After having a bad experience with Terri Optics I gave another provider a call and they booked me within minutes with no nonsense about their computer systems being down. read more

I had a great experience at Terri Optics! The care I received was personal and professional. Both myself and my husband had comprehensive eye exams and we both purchased new glasses and our first pairs of prescription sun glasses! The Maui Jim's we purchased are polarized and have changed the way we experience driving in daylight. It really makes a huge difference! Not only can I see the road more clearly (no more glare or reflection from the dashboard) but I feel more relaxed and confident when I drive. If you're like me and have hit middle-age, you've probably figured out that getting lenses that actually allow you to see is nothing like the quickie procedure it was in your 20s and 30s. I had tried everything -- contacts, bifocal contacts, reading specs over other lenses -- and had completely given up on being able to see well before I found Terri Optics. I have to admit that I'm a cheapskate and a skeptic, so I had a certain amount of dread when I walked into the shop. It looks cool and fashionable so I figured I'd leave broke and blind, rather than just blind. But I'm now a convert. Terri advised me to go with progressive lenses. She assured me that if I didn't like them she would work with me so I wouldn't get stuck paying for glasses I couldn't use. And she showed me a bunch of gorgeous, hip frames that were closeouts and half price. For the first time in years I can now see PERFECTLY at every distance, and I have a great new look. I am thrilled. Yes, by my standards it was expensive (about $800 total for designer frames, progressive lenses, and Transitions tinting that get darker in the sun so I only need one pair). But it's been 2 1/2 years and I haven't spend another cent. What can I say?: So worth it. Just do it! read more

I have been coming here ever since we moved to the area in 2001. Both of my children wear glasses and have been getting their eyes examined and buying their frames and lenses at Terri Optics since then. We have nothing but praise for their doctors (love Dr Lonky!), their frame selection and their service. When my daughter breaks her frames they are always ready to fix them at no cost. Look, you can buy your frames and lenses online somewhere but what happens when they break or need repair? Best of all, they are INDEPENDENT and LOCAL. They support our local sports teams and community. Why go anywhere else? read more

Went here previously years ago and wasn't thrilled but my wife convinced me to go back as she goes here for her glasses and recently brought her mom and they were very happy. I have bad eyes and high prescription and need ultra thin transitional lenses. I was very happy with what I got- they gave a nice selection of modern frames, great service and they took the time to sit with me to get me what I wanted. Been going here for about 5 years perhaps I just got a bad person but one lady tried to sell me a pair of defective glasses that were discounted. It seemed she knew that the pair was defective but failed to mention it. Only when I pointed it out that they were defective she answered that that was why it was discounted.
