While looking, I noticed that no one greeted me, no one asked if I needed help with anything. Yet, several people around me were asked and they all happened to be white, or look white at least. As a person of color, I couldn't help but feel that this was done on purpose. I even stood next to the jewelry which is right next to the cashier and nothing. I still bought the item and left. Ultimately, I decide to come back a few minutes later to return it. This didn't feel right at all. I wanted to give them my feedback in the moment but decided to call after I left. As a brown male amongst all white woman, it just didn't seem like the best idea. I want to say that this wasn't on purpose but it's hard not to take it that way. I will never shop at this place again!

TL;DR: Adorable store, tasteful and unique items. Worth a visit if you're in search of home…read morefurnishings, if not to get a little inspiration. Customer service level may vary. If I can figure out a way to use my reward online, I'd shop more often. This is a lovely store, filled with lots of cool/cute/French/MCM/unique home furnishing items and beyond. If you're shopping for a gift, you can't really go wrong here. I stopped by recently on a Friday after playing pickleball at Delridge CC. We'd moved into a bigger home and had been shopping for unfussy outdoor furniture. I love the aesthetic of Fermob bistro set, and when I saw this store carried more Fermob items, I decided to pay a visit. The store is filled to the brim with charming items you'd want to take home, including some apparel, jewelry and bags. I went back the next day with my partner, and we bought some outdoor rocking chairs, a loveseat and some side tables, as well as a cozy alpaca blanket to use in our yard. They were having their 20% off anniversary sale June 8-, so I feel very happy about the shopping on Saturday. The reason I say "maybe" to the "would you recommend?" question has to do with my personal experience on Friday, when there were fewer (2?) employees and also fewer (2) customers in the store. Make of it what you will. As a POC and someone who walked in there in some athleisure getup with no purse (just the phone), I felt like some of the staff may judge a book by its cover. I obviously seemed interested in the furniture, tried sitting on them, curiously took photos of them to show my husband, but until I took the initiative to say hi, the employees acted like they wouldn't have any time to spare for me (2 employees talking to a white lady, 2 customers). I purchased 2 sets of Graf Lantz coasters and a bag that day. I was asked if I was in their system/reward program, but at no time was I asked to be added to the system. Also: I only found out about the anniversary sale starting the next day, because I overheard them telling the other customer and asked about it. (If I hadn't overheard, they might have lost a $3K sale.) Only after I went back with my (white) husband in a better outfit, I feel like I got more eager help. Again this was just my personal experience on a particular day, so your experience would of course vary depending on your/store's circumstances. It wasn't an overt profiling, but more like a series of small subconscious (or conscious) choices out of habit. To a person who's experienced this kind of dismissive behaviors from many a storekeeper, it may seem more like micro aggression. On the positive note, after my bigger purchase, I earned enough points to get a $100 discount! I feel like this is a pretty good reward program. I wish I could figure out a way to use this discount online/have things delivered, since I don't live close to the store.

Very disappointing experience! I will not be shopping here again…read more I have gone into this place several times. Lots of cute stuff, great gift ideas, and love the design of the items. Why the one star? Returns are store credit only. This is the most ridiculous return policy, especially for a design store. Sometimes items just don't work for the space/idea one might have for them. If an item is returned within days of purchase as result, the expectation is full refund. I do understand it is a small boutique shop. However, I would think return customers would be your bread and butter. I will not be returning as a result of this return policy. (Pun fully intended.) Edit: It is never clear to me why businesses insist on attempting to resolve an issue by simply restating their policy. Suggestion, if response is simply to restate, then don't respond. Said return policy is not clearly posted. If this were the case, purchase would never have been made. Suggestion, inform patrons verbally at time of purchase.

This place is for those who have extra cash around, so that they could purchase a model of a fetus in various stages of development, at prices comparable to a real fetus. The shop is crammed full of antique-y type stuff, like curio cabinets, funky old chairs, old old opera glasses, animal heads, large boots of bygone years - The sales person is very hands off, and this is a store for browsing, not for people to follow you around, asking if you want to buy some strange-looking objects that resemble ancient butt plugs. Not that I can't appreciate this stuff in all its overpriced glory. I do like the funky collection of items here, but I also can't help but feel that Old Grandma Mabel from over a century ago is looking down on us and laughing that the old magnifying glass used for her rectal exam in 1889 now being sold here for 1000 times its original cost.

I really love finding old medical and scientific nick nacks and furniture and this place has it all. From full sized anatomical models, charts, medical cabinets, signage, etc. I almost forgot to go back out into the streets to enjoy the Sub Pop Records Silver Jubilee festivities. This is a pop-up shop and it is located just to the south of Jules Maes in the building that used to house the Vespa repair shop. It will be open for 60 days here only since it is a Pop-Up shop off of her main showroom on 17th Ave. SW. It may stay open longer than the initial 60 days if it does well. Definitely worth a pop in to the pop-up shop that opened on the Sup Pop Silver Jubilee day.
