Tom made the reservation, and prior to our trip, I called and let them know this trip was for our anniversary. I asked if there was a package I could purchase to have something special in the room when we arrived, as a surprise. I spoke to Courtney, and he said he could definitely put something together for me! Courtney checked us in. We arrived at around 9:30pm (late start), and he offered to help us out if we were unable to find a place open to get dinner. The location of our room was RIGHT on the river, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. When we walked into the room, waiting on the desk was a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries from Rocky Mountain Chocolates, with a handwritten note from Courtney and Sydney (the owners), wishing us a Happy Anniversary! This touch really started off our anniversary weekend right. Everything was clean and comfortable, and we got a great night sleep in the comfortable bed. At night, we sat right next to the river around the fire pit. The atmosphere was perfect. We bought the stuff to make s'mores, and the icing on the cake was that they had a tree with a note attached, "Snowman Arms & Marshmallow Sticks". How Cute! Every morning, a free, made to order breakfast was offered. The cook was friendly, and quick. We had Belgian waffles, eggs to order, and bacon! So delicious. (Great coffee, too). On Saturday nights, at the slope within walking distance from the hotel, there is a thing called the Torchlight Parade, which has people skiing down the mountain in a zig-zag procession holding flares. A few weeks ago, my girlfriend and I tagged a long with my family and stayed at Three Bears for the week. The staff is fantastic, accommodating, and very friendly! My girlfriend and I stayed in an efficiency (#10 I believe) that backed up right to the Copper lift. The efficiency was very cozy and a great place to kick off the boots after a long day of snowboarding. One of the nights we were there, Three Bears had Smores Night and it was AMAZING. I will always stay at Three Bears anytime I am in Red River.

This review is about customer service and communication, not a stay at the lodge…read more I reserved a room because I planned to travel to the area for a concert. When the concert was unexpectedly cancelled approximately a month before my reservation, I contacted the lodge, explained the circumstances, and asked whether it would consider making an exception to its nonrefundable policy. (see screen shot) The lodge was entitled to decline my request, and my review is not based on that decision. What concerned me was the manner in which the decision was communicated. After stating that the lodge had a strict noncancellation policy, its representative suggested that I contact the artist for help since he had cancelled and "ruined" my vacation. (see screen shot) The comment was unnecessary, sarcastic, and unprofessional. The artist had not ruined my vacation, nor had I suggested that he had. I was simply asking a hospitality business whether it would consider an exception under unusual circumstances and with ample notice to potentially rebook the room. I subsequently wrote to the owner, Steve Heglund, about the response and received no reply. Because my original request went to a general mailbox, I do not know whether he wrote the comment himself. His lack of response, however, left me with no reason to believe he considered it a problem. How people treat those whom they view as unimportant or insignificant is telling about their character, in my view. Businesses are free to enforce their policies. Customers are equally entitled to expect that those policies will be communicated courteously and without sarcasm. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

It's that close! 2 hot tubs are on the property to ease those aching muscles after a full day of skiing. Friendly and accommodating staff, clean rooms, great location and amenities, what more could you ask for? This is first and only choice next time I'm in Red River.

They said there was WIFI, but there was only 1 network that could be picked up in the room and it wasn't one of the 2 networks that they provided a password for. There is room to park a trailer, which is nice given all of the off-roading in Red River. The biggest problem is with the water temperature control. It swings from scalding hot to frigid repeatedly with not much time anywhere in between. I assume several units are tied together, but the shower was unbearable. All in all, they charge an appropriate rate for the amenities and the area.

Then she lied! She told her husband, boss or whomever he was - over the phone in front- of me that she told me it was off-season. She never mentioned it. I asked for a refund and they refused. I had booked 2 nights and asked to be refunded for at least the 2nd night. Nope! The owners response, it's not his job to entertain us. We will not be back and I will tell everyone I know. We arrived at midnight on Thanksgiving Day and our key was waiting for us. The customer service is top notch! One review I read complained of noise, but we didn't have any issues with that at all. Hot tub was awesome, fire pit every night was awesome, and the location was awesome. You are right in the middle of everything. We rented a one bedroom and it was nicer than the pictures online. There were deer and ducks that came up to us and let us feed them! The copper lift was closed since only half the mountain was open, so we weren't able to ski in/out, but the main lift is just a few short blocks away so it was no big deal. I could go on and on about how great this place is! We will be back!

In all the years we've been coming, they have never updated anything. It's grimey and dirty. They gave us a 10% discount because we stayed longer than one day in August. We tidy-ed our own room, and just asked for toilet paper and new towels. The room was large, with a fold-out sofa, full-size fridge, and microwave, and stocked with utensils: I love that! The shower get hot quickly if you start the valve in the middle (New Mexico law states that the shower will not get hot if you push the valve all the way over to "Hot.") We went to "Shotgun Willies" across the street for breakfast and sometimes lunch. The tourist information center and public park is directly across the street. Very quiet at night. The wi-fi could be a little stronger. We went so we could drive about two miles outside of the town and view the Perseids Meteor Shower. The Milky Way and shooting stars were something we will remember forever! All in all, an excellent experience.
