It's conveniently located with walking distance to great restaurants, stores and interesting shops. I am a Best Western's rewards member and the staff recognized it immediately. They got me the type of room I wanted with no problem. The rooms were clean and nice. They had a home style breakfast in the morning,  cooked by a staff person. It has the  good stuff like waffles, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, bagels, toast and fruit.   I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful and available. it was like a restaurant. The room's itself had all the space I needed and  a Mini refrigerator and coffee maker which I use. Everything was working just fine and very clean  I was impressed with the staff and their willingness to try to help me in any way that it could the hotel was great and made for relaxing stay. If you're using Google maps it can be a little hard to notice just look up for the sign. If you're low on gas you might want to top off before leaving town. read more

We stayed two nights. The owner and staff were so friendly and readily available in the office. Location was great. Breakfast in the morning is so cute, they prepare you eggs, bacon and waffles. (Best breakfast provided by a hotel I've had in a while.) However, Our bathtub was very backed up so when we would shower it wasn't draining which was uncomfortable and dirty feeling. Also, beds are very very firm so we didn't sleep all that well. But overall it was good and somewhat what we expected. The hot tub was under remodel and unavailable. We would stay again. read more

This will be a regular vacation retreat for me.??Nestled in the mountains it sits literally on the river where the water is so clear you can see the river bed. There are barbecue pies,chairs and barbecue grills for guests to cook that days catch. You often see someone in the water fly fishing. It is a ski resort and the ski lift is in walking distance from the hotel. The shops, clubs, and park where special venues are held are all in walking distance. In the mornings instead of a cabinet with wrapped muffins you are served waffles, eggs, sausage or bacon made fresh just for you. You can sit at one of the tables and visit with other guests or take your plate to your room. Water from the tap is spring water, fresh and just like a glass poured from a bottle. Therefore you know when you make a cup of coffee, tea, or just a glass of water it will be good. Be sure to plan your stay and make your reservation well in advance to secure a room. Best Western is most definitely not on my go-to list of places to say, but we were pleasantly surprised with our stay here in Red River. Check-in was easy as pie. The concierge was super informative and they have menus for local eateries and flyers for things to do right there for you as well. Dog friendly. It was a must, and was actually the reason we chose this place. It was like $10 extra for the night. The room was pretty nice. Very clean, plenty of room, and well stocked with bottles of water and toiletries. We slept well for our one night stay, and so did the dogs. The river runs right behind the hotel and they have a sweet little outdoor seating area to enjoy it. Breakfast was good. Waffles, made to order eggs, breakfast meats... we were impressed. All in all, I'll stay here again if I ever find myself in Red River! read more

WOW! Location, Location, Location. A 30 second walk to one of the ski lifts. A one minute walk to the best restaurant in town and pretty much centered on all of the stores. Ambiance. It is literally on the edge of the Red River. The area next to the river has tables/umbrellas, chairs, and fire pit (wood is stacked and free). We enjoyed taking breaks during the day and in the evening. It was especially nice to sit around the fire and talk with other guests. Room. We had a 2 queen bed room on the 2nd floor in back. At night we opened the window and let the sound of the river lull us to sleep. The rooms are clean, have a small refrigerator with separate freezer, a sink which is separate from the bathroom, and something every motel should have: a coat peg rack. Handy to just hang up hats, jackets, purses, etc. and reduce the look of "our suitcases exploded." Breakfast. A lot of places offer a free breakfast. This is the best! They cook your eggs to order, make waffles, bacon, fresh coffee, gourmet teas, juices, and the usual breakfast fare of bagels and muffins. The desk person does the cooking. They are super friendly and excellent cooks. Seriously, I've gone to restaurants for breakfast that could not match this! Staff. Super friendly and efficient. I mentioned the front desk and breakfast, but also the cleaning staff were very courteous. We saw no reason for sheets and towels to be changed daily, so we mentioned that at the desk. The cleaning staff stopped by to make sure we were stocked with TP, tissues, cups, etc. Water. I hate drinking municipal water. The water that comes out of the tap is pure mountain spring water. Why they have two free bottles of water in the room is beyond me. This is the best tasting water ever! Enjoy! read more

BEWARE! I thought we got a very good room on the back/streamside of the hotel. As I started unpacking (it took a couple days), I've realized several items were stolen from our room. Looking back, when we went out for a couple hours to walk the dog, our door was ajar upon our return. I knew I closed the door upon leaving, but trusted the place (how stupid was that!), and as I start looking I realize I have several items missing!! We decided to take a trip to celebrate our anniversary in November (we're a little late posting our review!) We booked the reservation online, and chose Best Western because it was a good deal, had good reviews, and is dog-friendly. Tom made the reservation, and prior to our trip, I called and let them know this trip was for our anniversary. I asked if there was a package I could purchase to have something special in the room when we arrived, as a surprise. I spoke to Courtney, and he said he could definitely put something together for me! Courtney checked us in. We arrived at around 9:30pm (late start), and he offered to help us out if we were unable to find a place open to get dinner. The location of our room was RIGHT on the river, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. When we walked into the room, waiting on the desk was a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries from Rocky Mountain Chocolates, with a handwritten note from Courtney and Sydney (the owners), wishing us a Happy Anniversary! This touch really started off our anniversary weekend right. Everything was clean and comfortable, and we got a great night sleep in the comfortable bed. At night, we sat right next to the river around the fire pit. The atmosphere was perfect. We bought the stuff to make s'mores, and the icing on the cake was that they had a tree with a note attached, "Snowman Arms & Marshmallow Sticks". How Cute! Every morning, a free, made to order breakfast was offered. The cook was friendly, and quick. We had Belgian waffles, eggs to order, and bacon! So delicious. (Great coffee, too). On Saturday nights, at the slope within walking distance from the hotel, there is a thing called the Torchlight Parade, which has people skiing down the mountain in a zig-zag procession holding flares. It was amazing! This hotel was comfortable, laid back, and relaxing. It was just the trip we needed, and the staff really completed our stay in Red River! (The dog loved it too!) We had a wonderful stay here! The location can't be beat- just steps from the ski lift. The river runs right behind the hotel- very scenic. The rooms haven't been remodeled for many years, but our room was impeccably clean and in good condition. I would recommend the top floor if available, as we were on the bottom floor and heard noise from the room above us at night. The made to order breakfast was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We would love to come back someday! read more

Nice place about a block off of the main drag, right along the river. Our room was a bit shabby, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast to order is available in the morning, but we didn't partake. The lobby is nice and offers a big screen TV and comfy places to sit while working or relaxing. There is a business area where you can print and copy if needed. Our room was facing the street, but we still had a view of the "strip" and the mountains to the north. When we come back we'll be asking for a room on the south side facing the river. Oh, I nearly forgot, they have a nice little sitting area out back next to the river with a fire pit. Great place to hang out in the evening, meet some other folks and have some S'mores! Best hotel ever. I did not have high expectations but this place is absolutely great. It is so close to the ski area, excellent management, DELICIOUS made to order breakfasts that is so much better than any continental breakfast I've ever had, and very clean rooms. Our room was on the backside facing the mountain with the most gorgeous view. Can't say enough good things about it, we will stay here whenever we come to Red River. read more

Only one other review on bed bugs? ONE? Usually, when you see ONE review on something like "bed bugs" the poster likely brought them with them! Come on...this place was clean and the staff was friendly. We parked our Tahoe on Wednesday night and didn't move it until we left. You can walk to the chair lift and any restaurant in town. This is a great place to stay. Mike the manager was always in the lobby chatting up guests and they make a hot breakfast with waffles and eggs each morning. To be fare, its not much, but its more than you could expect and good for a hot breakfast! read more

Bed bugs. Avoid. I truly was going to write a good review for this hotel based on my first impressions. The room was renovated and clean. The bathroom had some issues, including a toilet seat with yellow stains and scratches that had been painted with white-out. Aside from the bathroom and a problem due to the clerk's inability to find my reservation, it seemed decent for a ski town. But then morning came, and we found little red dots moving on the beds. And not just one or two but at least ten visible ones and who knows what under the mattress. We immediately called the front desk, asking the clerk to come and see the bugs firsthand so he would know we were not making up a story. He too casually said that he believed us and that he would let the manager know. He called the owner, who gave us the room for free. I then called Best Western corporate to make sure something was done about the bugs. I also called the Taos County health department and left a message but never got a response. We initially told Corporate that we had not been bitten, but we later found out that bites from bed bugs can take a while to appear, and a week later we had red dots all over -- on our faces and arms and legs; it was awful. I received an email from the manager of the hotel, the text of which is below for full disclosure. But he essentially said they found no sign of bed bugs, which was hard to swallow when I had pictures and bites to prove everything. Long story short, avoid this hotel. Poor management and vermin are not something anyone should experience ever at a hotel. The email from the manager: My name is Mike Patel and I am the Property Manager Of the hotel you recently stayed at. I apologize for the problem you had during your stay at our property. I came back on Monday and Immediately inspected the room myself. We have striped the whole room and have not found any sign of Bed Bugs. We are really concern about it and we have made an appointment for someone to come look at it from Taos NM. Unfortunately, the owner has run from the truth as much as the hired help. Sad, but it sure gives me a good view of how this hotel operates and counting my blessings not to have stayed there. La Quinta, Marriott, and other hotels don't seem to have a cat dander problem. Actually, the type of cat we have doesn't have dander, but guess it takes someone who has knowledge of cats to know that not all cats have dander. I guess the biggest issue is the non-truths that were told. Maybe the workers are all related. Like I stated earlier, confirm, confirm, confirm, before you make the trip there to ensure you have a room and good luck in your stay. This is the second time we have stayed at this property, and without a doubt is the best place to stay when skiing Red River. Our room was very clean, including a sanitized remote control, and the staff is awesome! Every morning you go downstairs and they make for you waffles, bacon, etc. to fill you up for the day of skiing. The sound of the river outside the room is wonderful and soothing. We have stayed in many places in Red River but will come back to this Best Western from now on. The rooms are impeccable. Spotlessly cleaned, beautifully decorated and better furnished with "necessities" than any hotel in town. If you need it, they thought of it and it's already there. If by chance it's not, they'll have it at the front desk. Mike, the owner I believe, is involved in every aspect of the hotel and it shows. From check in, to grounds, to every day upkeep, you can tell he is very mythological as to how he wants it ran. Breakfast is hot, made to order, by him as well. Eggs how you want them, bacon, waffles and the usual continental breakfast items are all there. It is right on the river and a short walk from the ski lift. read more

Recently spent 5 nights at this hotel. Had a fully renovated room. Rooms are a tad on a small side (considering we were four with a lot of winter gear) but definitely manageable. Great shower and beds, walking distance to ski area. They make great breakfast for you on order - eggs anyway you want (shelled eggs :), great waffles and so on. Staff very helpful, rooms are warm and clean. Will definitely stay again. If you have small kids though be aware that the water is set to very high temperature so there is danger of scalding at the sink. read more

This place could possibly have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I stayed with a friend over the New Years weekend and had reservations for three nights. We had to leave a night early to some issues back home. The manager told us that even though we were not using the room we would be charged for it. "We have many rooms vacant and you told us you were going to stay so now you will have to pay". Horrible customer service, taking advantage just because your not fully booked is no way to treat guests. Your employees need to learn customer service. read more
