After a 12hour drive from Austin, Tx and arriving close to midnight, the hotel management was extremely accommodating. Sending instructions via text and after hours access to our check-in documentation made everything smooth and easy. We were charmed the next morning by the manager and chef personally delivering delicious breakfast (that we hand selected the night before) to our room. We could not have asked for a better stay. Not to mention on the room was great! Will be staying here anytime we are in the area. Thanks for everything!

Follow a serene drive through decades old cottonwoods, and you'll find yourself in the quiet tranquility of Palacio de Marquesa. Lauren will greet you with a warm smile, as she hands you the keys and educates you on the facility. The small details of this B&B are pleasing, and the wild flowers unfurling from their winter slumber are a dash of sunshine in the community garden. The rooms are simply wonderful and bright, all dedicated to fabulous historical women of Taos. Waking up to birds chirping, fresh air, and the coziness of the sheets, in front of the wild garden, is second to none. The breakfast was one of the best meals I've had away from home in a very long time, though I would have preferred the staff didn't ask for the breakfast basket prior to our departure. This is a place I will return as often as I can.

The Palacio is THE "must-visit" B+B in Taos that will steep you in beauty, history and the rich stories of the women artists of Taos - along with wonderful service and comfort provided by the manager Asia and her amazing team. The Palacio is a perfect landing place to discover the treasures of Taos. The property is charming and elegant - charged with delightful, layered gardens from every vantage point. The eight rooms are themed with the early artists of Taos - Mabel Dodge, Agnes Martin, Dorothy Brett, Millicent Rogers, Gene Kloss, Martha Reed and our room - Georgia O'Keefe. The massive cottonwoods that surround and cover the property provide a cool, powerful and enchanting feeling to the place. Lauren greeted us upon our arrival, with a great welcome and introduction to the B+B and the town. Our 'Icon' room was a very romantic room - well appointed with Georgia O'Keeffe theme, a majestic four poster bed with the signature silver steer head in the center, a romantic faux-fireplace, a large bath with marble floors, large screen TV, fast WiFi and the most beautiful garden outside our room. We had a breakfast delivered to our garden table (you can dine in the main room as well) - amazing french-press coffee, the most delicious fritatta ever (order this !!) and a fruit bowl with fresh mint sprinkled on top. Asia provided some great guidance on where to go, what to see in our limited 2-day stay - and she knows her stuff, has a great team, is very thoughtful and quite delightful to speak with. The rooms make an interesting spot for small groups of travelers, there are two rooms that share a private patio, a four (I think) rooms that share a delightful garden and fire pit/fountain and the rest are single rooms with a private garden. As an aside, we traveled here from Trinidad on our way to Santa Fe in our electric vehicle (Tesla), and while it appears a mile-sapping trip - we made it with miles to spare, and Asia allowed us easy access to 110V charging, and is now looking into regular EV charging capability. This place is part of a Heritage B+B collection, which offers guests a 15% discount at certain places in Taos. One of two B+B's west of the Mississippi we have ever been to. We will be back!

Staff was smiley and kind, though not very personal. We've been to other B&Bs where the personal touches really made the stay. Our first night, we slept okay. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and was pretty creaky. The pillows are plentiful but all flat pancakes. The water pressure was sad, and it took over 30 minutes to fill above the jets in the tub so we could use it. Also, we checked everywhere for a spare roll of TP when we ran out the second night, but there was none. We also had some trouble with spiders in the tub both mornings. We were greeted at breakfast by the host (never got her name), who was sweet and friendly, but it was clear there was chaos in the kitchen. Both mornings, breakfast was delicious, but it took well over an hour to be served. The second morning it was clear they'd run out of several things, which was disappointing when watching other tables get their food and ours was different and kind of sad by comparison (even though we arrived at 9:15, 45 min before it ends). I totally understand things happen, but when you're a bed and breakfast, the bed should be comfortable and the breakfast should be available quickly and efficiently so you can go about your day. I can see why others have had such wonderful experiences here, and the property truly is gorgeous and relaxing, but overall it was more of a miss for us compared to other places we've stayed.

Richard had a letter attached to the wood frame entrance to our accommodations welcoming us to the property. He came right over to introduce himself, show us around the property, and even picked a few things from the garden for us to enjoy during our stay. We settled in and enjoyed the cheese, crackers, olives and snacks that he had on the table along with a bottle of wine that was delicious. The next morning, Richard was on our doorstep with warm pear and walnut scones that he made from the pear tree on the property. Our little cottage was perfect. Filled with local art work, bright colors and the textures of the Southwest. We had a lovely living room, dining area with a banquette, kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Upstairs was the bedroom and bathroom with a large deck off the bedroom and stunning views of the mountains surrounding Taos. Everything was spotlessly clean, warm, inviting and cozy. We relaxed, enjoyed and savored every moment we were here. I even used the little meditation hut next to the creek for my morning meditations. It was the most peaceful spot. In the refrigerator we found 6 fresh eggs that Richard had left from the chickens on the property. We thoroughly enjoyed them. Coffee was great, actually better than several of the cafes in the surrounding area. Room was comfortable. Staff was great, both at desk, in adobe bar and housekeeping/maintenance. Only bummer was that Doc Martin, the onsite restaurant was only open days we already had plans. That night I booked my flight, rented a car and three days later off I went. I didn't make hotel reservations because I didn't know where I was going to wind up and since I was going by myself, I just winged it. I arrived in Albuquerque got my car and drove to Taos. What should have been a two-and-a-half-hour drive turned into a six plus hour drive because I made so many stops, checking out random towns (La Cienega, NM, Ohkay Owingeh NM) along the way. The landscape between Albuquerque and Taos is beautiful with dramatic transitions from high desert mesas and arid badlands to lush river valleys and the towering Sangre de Cristo Mountains. I got to Taos and went to Taos Plaza and Taos Pueblo. I eventually got a room at The Historic Taos Inn and spent the night there. The Historic Taos Inn is a charming, cozy Southwestern vibe Inn located in the heart of Taos. My room was super cute, comfortable and nicely decorated. Since I was alone, I wasn't out at night exploring (there's not much nightlife in Taos) so I parked myself on a couch in the lobby, got caught up on some reading/writing, people watched and mapped out where I would be going the next three days. The staff were incredibly nice, offering suggestions as to points of interest. There's a restaurant/bar located on the property with a cute little outdoor patio area. I only spent a night there, but I felt safe/comfortable at the Historic Taos Inn and it was fine for what I needed. I left the next day after a morning of exploring and continued on my road trip. I would stay here again.

The room we were moved to desperately needed dusting. Sadly many B&B's do not wash their bedspreads--- like ever, and in this case only flat sheets (no fitted) with hard as rock pillows are available. This property will appeal to some but I'm hoping the gutted driveway, peeling paint etc get attention. The location is really lovely and better than being in town. The price point is very fair for what you get. Wishing the owners lots of luck and lots of business. It's not easy to run a place like this.
