But, considering not many things in life are perfect, these strawberries would be a candidate. Without exception, regardless whether I buy a box or a flat, every berry is perfect. Big, juicy and with flavor in abundance. Never a bad berry in the mix. Actually quite unbelievable, but absolutely appreciated and totally enjoyed. There are blueberry bushes as far as the eye can see, and you need your own container, but if you love that summer feeling of picking your own fruit, this is the place. The payment is $1.50 per pound or a dollar per pound if you get 10 lb or more. It's all on the honor system, which was really nice and refreshing to see that there's still some trust in our community. The owner came around a few times talking, laughing, and joking with us and our fellow pickers. he encouraged us to eat as many as we possibly could off the bushes so we didn't put a dent in our haul. He also provides bottled water underneath a tent when it gets too toasty out. The only thing I would caution is that it can be easy to pick an abundance of blueberries without noticing. my friend and I were there for just over an hour, and when I weighed my bag I was shocked to find out that I had done 14 lbs. My only issue now is to figure out what to do with them all! I highly recommend going as an essential part of a summer in Bellingham.

Barnie's Berries is a woman-owned you-pick-them farm with strawberries and raspberries. My eight-year-old daughter and I picked two small provided buckets. They filled one of the store's brown boxes and cost just under $30. The berries were delicious! There are no restrooms outside of port-a-potties, but there is water and a sink to wash your hands off the side.

The drive…read moreitself is lovely and scenic and I-5 N is not terrible, particularly after about Montlanke Terrace. From their website, the farm was started by a couple who wanted to grow peonies, and wow! they've done a spectacular job. Unassuming place minus all the commercial and tourist trappings. Rows and rows of beautiful blooms, particularly now, in early June...some as large as your open hand. Really well cared for, and even the bees approve! The smell is just heavenly. Nothing any perfume could possibly replicate! Great place to walk and admire nature, and also to take pictures. There is a manicured garden off to the side that is also quite lovely. A small store, where you can either purchase bouquets, or, they will give you a bucket and clippers to pick your own, and give you instructions on how to do so, then wrap your pick for you and help you to get it home (helpful to bring your own bucket or vase for transportation in your car). Only $2 per stem, and after almost ten days, my buds are still opening. They sell peony jelly and goat milk soap, so, of course I had to buy some. Just divine. Thanks to these people who have worked so hard to create this marvel, and have opened it to the public, so we can also appreciate it. No admittance fees or anything else. Just a lovely experience.

This is a fairly new market in the Bellingham area. It is really nice. New indoor bathrooms, local…read moreorganic farmers, jewelry, soap, art etc... There is some food, coffee, both freshly brewed & available to purchase, flowers, knitted goods and the market will have an estimated 60 vendors by mid-summer! Not as crowded yet as the Bellingham Farmers Market and parking is easier too. As Ferndale is an up & coming town it will only grow and become better! It is along the river & it is very clean with benches every so many yards & really pretty. I love having this here where I live. Check it out!
