When visiting the world's raspberry capital (Whatcom County), you have to go raspberry picking in July. Lucky for my family, the raspberries came out early. Barnie's Berries is a woman-owned you-pick-them farm with strawberries and raspberries. My eight-year-old daughter and I picked two small provided buckets. They filled one of the store's brown boxes and cost just under $30. The berries were delicious! There are no restrooms outside of port-a-potties, but there is water and a sink to wash your hands off the side. read more

Second time coming here over the years & it never disappoints! There are always plenty of berries and it's a clean, safe setting for kids!

Going there is an annual event for us. The raspberries are plentiful and delicious! We always go into town afterwards at a great sandwich, soup and salad restaurant. Great fun! And the festival this weekend is awesome! read more

The best fruit of the day was the strawberries, amazing! Though ironically, they were the most painful fruit to pick since they hide low and out of sight. It is truly wonderful to be able to freshly pick so many different things (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries) in one friendly and easy spot. The cashiers were nice and the guy driving the tractor gave good berry targeting advice (go for the strawberries at the end, almost no one makes it that far :). Best 20 bucks ever spent for some family fun! read more

Apparently we came here on the 'last days' of raspberry season so I can't even imagine how much better the patch is a few weeks prior as I was already amazed at how many raspberries we were able to pick on our trip to Barbie's Berries! The location is tucked away in Ferndale but not hard to find if you google maps it. The entrance is inviting and the whole farm is very clean and well manicured. Prices to pick are really reasonable and it made for a fun family activity. Barbie was friendly and gave good instruction and the picking was easy. We had our buckets attached and away we picked! Barbie's doesn't just have raspberries. There are other fruits like blueberries and strawberries that you can also pick along with some other fruits. They have a great area for checkout. It's best to bring your own buckets to transport your berries home. We ended up making 12 jars of jam at a fraction of the price we would have paid to purchase that many jars. We transported those jars just fine to California and have been enjoying our jam since. We also had globs of raspberries as is while still in Washington. Super sweet and delicious! I think I'll plan my next adventure to the Northwest a few weeks earlier to be there in the thick of raspberry season and would certainly come back to Barbie's Berries! read more

Great u-pick farm! We visited during the first week of August and there were blueberries galore! So easy and fun to pick. We also bought flats or strawberries and raspberries. All were perfectly ripe and delicious. read more
