Worked with Terminix to get rid of ants and centipedes and once again after initial service there was no follow through. I've asked them to come back out and re apply a treatment. Well after 2 no calls no shows, countless calls to customer service and 3 escalation to management and no call back I finally had enough. I was told that no one notated my account with any of my complaints or request. I was also told that a regional manager reach out to me. Once I called right back to see if any notes or put in the system it was apparent that I was not going to get anywhere. So I spoke to another gentleman advising him that I will not get off the phone until I speak to a manager. Then I was told that I would not be able to get my full refund even though I'm within the 30 day window of the money back guarantee, as they just change the rule for that a week ago, and they will not honor services that have already been rendered. So I advised that every email correspondence and my contract states that they would honor it. Unfortunately that fell on deaf ears. Buyer beware they do not want to honor their contract nor do they value their customers. There reps say their gonna have someone call but that's a lie. Updated 10/31/18 After posting how displeased I was. I received a call back from the regional manager. He took full responsibility for the lack of communication. As for setting up new service the customer service dept has no business scheduling appointments as it seems as they do not speak to each other or it's system is not setup for dispatch to connect. I have had so many escalated cases with this company and this guy completely ghosted me. I filed a charge back with the company and now they are trying to make me pay for the trash job they did - didn't come back out to our house when we asked. Do yourself a favor and stay away! We now have to go to court with the company. I have emails, voice recordings and screenshots of texts that show the work wasn't done correctly, we were overcharged, etc. RUN don't walk away from them. A horrible deceptive company that sends inspectors to comp up with lies to get your money. I signed a contract with Terminix in good faith and based on the information the inspector provided ,needles to say that the information was based on a lie. The inspector painted a picture of a roof that has holes at two of its exterior edges where the shingles have been raised by what is likely to be squirrels that are gaining entry to my roof, the inspector took pictures and wrote a detailed report of his findings, and physically walked me and showed me where exactly on my house are the squirrels getting into my roof and attic space using his tablet to zoom onto the shingles at two different corners of my roof, the inspector informed me that Terminix have people that can come within two weeks time to patch up the holes under these shingles with a metal sheet to protect my roof from these current harsh Michigan winter days at the end of January and also place traps in the attic to catch the squirrels. i paid all of the 6 months service in advance, an amount of $1150 to secure the skilled repair of these holes within two weeks at these miserable wintery conditions. needles to say that i had to call on Terminix to get the work started when nobody called in after i singed the contract and It turned out that the report which the inspector wrote in detail was a lie, it turned out that my roof doesn't have any holes and the shingles, gutter guards, and flashing are all intact and haven't been moved or raised or bitten or disturbed in any form or way. I did sign the contract in good faith, but later one one of Terminix inspectors on the 3rd and last visit exposed the lies and deceptions of the first inspector. Terminix came up with the idea of replacing the attic fan with a fan that has a cover to prevent squirrels to get into my roof in exchange for the contracted money amount and the deception of the first inspector. The circus started when I refused Terminix offer that is when the stalling, numerous frustrating calls to costumer service to escalate my request to talk to a manager, which ended in talking to a manager that called in and introduced himself as the "inspector boss", the "inspector boss" didn't know what the issue was, didn't read the report, and was trying to cover up the deception of his inspector, the call ended with the "inspector boss" agreeing that this is all wrong and informed me that they would issue a total refund and get somebody to collect the equipment/traps, needless to say a week or more went by without any money being reimbursed and nobody showed up to collect the traps, and needles to say that i called in several times to find out what is going on and needless to say that i was informed that no refund will be issued as decided by another one of the managers because Terminix did send people to the residency. In short, you get deception and lies with excuses and covers up but they take your money no matter what. HORRIBLE! Terminix is a FRAUD! NEVER sign any contract with them you. They will take your hard-earned money and will not do their job! We signed a contract for the exclusion and pest control with Terminix for several thousand dollars. The inspector was explaining us how they will do about 70 things on our house to exterminate and protect our house from mice, bats and all kinds of insects. After we signed a contract, the Terminix technician came to our property for 30 min, sprayed chemicals around the house, got on a roof, supposedly installed ridge vent guards and patched cracks on a roof. Then he left and send us a paper that the exclusion work is now complete! I was trying to get them back to finish all the promised work, or cancel the contract, but customer service kept telling me that the local manager will contact me within 24 hours and no one ever contacted me. What we found next, was even worst. We asked two local pest control company for the inspection on our house and they both told us that ridge vent guards are not installed properly, they done about 30% of work, and only half of the cracks on a roof are patched. And the patches that they did already falling out. We still have mice, bats, ants and spiders, and lost $4835.00. The customer service is very rude, they simply hang up on me when I asked to transfer me to her manager. The technician that came to our house looked like he was under the influence of some substance, I did not feel safe around him. He, literally, walked through me, not answering my greetings. One of the first things I've always done when moving into a home is start a contract with a pest control provider. The benefits being regular maintenance and an immediate response when you need them. We had Terminix for the better part of a year when we saw a mouse in our home. I called them immediately to get the issue resolved. They simply never called back. I called 4 times over a month, the problems worsening as time passed, but they never called to schedule an appointment. Never called to let us know they were having issues... They literally created a HUGE mouse problem by simply never showing up when they were under contract to do so. At the end of the day I went to a local Pest Control supply place and got everything I needed to take care of the issue myself, including enough product(s) to do the job for 2 years, and it cost me less than 3 months of service from them. Funny enough the thing that reminded me to write this review was their text this morning letting me know they were coming to do their quarterly service TOMORROW! Yeah, you get less than 24 hours notice when they DO show up, leaving you no time to make arrangements if needed. Long & short? You pay them $140 four times a year for them to give you almost no notice when they show up and spread $3 of product around the outside of your home. They're basically the perfect company if you don't have a problem. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! If I didn't have a contract with Terminix I would have addressed the mouse issue immediately! We called them up to deal with a rodent problem. Scheduled the inspection for this afternoon, they give you a two hour window and promised to call half an hour before arriving. Never called, never showed up-called the 800 number and got someone who didn't know anything and told us we weren't even on the schedule. Apparently the guy who took our call improperly entered our inspection. Never, ever go to Terminex for a pest problem-they don't know what they're doing. Not happy. read more

I stayed home all day because we had two services scheduled. One was a complimentary home inspection and the other was because we have ants in the house. Nobody showed or called. The call desk was helpful, but the local branch was unreachable by the call center. Final Update: Eventually after my credit was in shambles all summer and I hired an attorney to sue the company the negative reporting was removed and at last this whole mess is over. In the end I got rid of the squirrels myself with a $40 trap from Amazon and spent about 6 months calling, emailing and generally bothering people at ServiceMaster and Terminix until things were resolved. What this company did to me was criminal. Don't let these people near your house! Second Update: After email the CEO on LinkedIn, presenting the story to a local news station and hiring an attorney the appropriate paperwork was filed with SMAC and my loan was fully cancelled. However, over the weekend SMAC reported me late for two payments with the credit bureaus and my credit score dropped 81 points. Additionally the amount that was financed now shows as a new negative balance on my Terminix account - this nightmare just wont end. I'm hoping at this point some law has been broken, what this company has done over the last 4 months has been criminal. Update: After calling for weeks without luck I got someone at corporate to start reaching out to the branch as well, they didn't return her calls either. Finally I disputed the charge on my Amex and when their money was impacted I got a call back that same day. They agreed to cancel my contract since only one service had been partially performed. I have this via email in writing. Cut to two months later and I've got debt collectors calling because the manager at the branch didn't follow through and cancel my contract in their system. This whole situation is such comedy of errors and incompetence it's almost funny at this point. Thank god I got that cancellation in writing! Original Post: I signed a contract for over $3k to have squirrels who were living in a new home I purchased removed. My home is a two story home and I purchased the service after an inspection in February. In total I purchased 3 services: 1. Exclusion around the home (to seal it off so the squirrels could not continue getting in and out) 2. Trapping 3. Cleanup in my attic and crawl space because the squirrels had been here a while and brought in quite a few nuts and pinecones The initial team showed up an hour and a half late, no call, no warning. They told me that they could only do Exclusion work on the ground floor because of the snow (even though its clear the squirrels are coming in multiple places including the roofline). After a while I noticed that I didn't hear them in the house anymore and after some looking around realized that they had just left with 1/3rd of the services incomplete. No goodbye, no next steps, nothing. Since then I have called three times over the last week to try and speak with someone, no one will call me back. Ive been able to text with the person who came out to do the inspection, he at least answers me but his requests to have a manager call me have also resulted in nothing. We contacted Terminix to help us with a Yellowjacket nest in the attic/roof. An inspector came out to the house and informed us that Terminix would be able to send someone to treat the nest and remove it. Because of the damage to the ceiling caused by the Yellowjackets (they chewed through the drywall and were separated from the house by a thin layer of paint), the inspector told us they would make us a priority on their service schedule. We were not made a priority and when the technicians arrived at our home, they were unaware that they would be treating a Yellowjacket nest. We expressed our frustration, a manager was contacted, and the technicians made an attempt to treat the Yellowjacket nest without being prepared to treat it properly. They had no suits, no ladder to enter the ceiling area so they stood on our furniture. They did not clean up after themselves and left handprints all over the wall. We were informed that some sort of powder was sprayed into the attic. The technician told us it may take a couple of days before the Yellowjackets die and the nest can be removed yet two days later the Yellowjackets were still alive and well, swarming the rooftop area. We were given misinformation by the inspector, the technicians and the manager we contacted on several occasions is trying to negotiate to provide better service rather than just issuing a refund. Meanwhile, the Yellowjackets are still invading our home. We chose to hire a company that is knowledgeable and prepared to treat Yellowjacket nests and had a great experience. We would not hire Terminix again, especially for the treatment of Yellowjackets. They are not qualified. read more

They didn't do a full "comprehensive interior inspection and treatment" like they advertised. The guy only sprayed 6ft of baseboard in the kitchen then laughed and said "we never do the entire interior of the house and my coworkers never do the full interior". If that's what you advertise that's what I should get, now I've been waiting for the manager to call for 5 days as headquarters told me he would and he won't even do that. Biggest waste of $250. Company is very unprofessional. Every year around this time I prepare my home of unwanted pest. This was the first time going with this company because normally I go with their competitors. I took a day off of work for a scheduled appointment. They changed the appointment twice and after calling several times they finally said that they were not coming out. I have already reported them to the BBB. I cannot understand why they would not notify me and why I had to call them several times to get an update. The staff were completely nonchalant about my concerns and the "branch manager" never returned my calls. I HAVE NEVER had any company completely decline my scheduled appointment and not offer compensation. The most they offered was an apology and hung up on my face. As a first time customer, I called Terminix to set up an appointment for an initial inspection for groundhog removal on Saturday between 8-10am. No one showed up. So I called Terminix customer support at 10am to ask why. The customer service representative responded that the inspector was "running behind on another job and that he would call me with an updated ETA for my inspection." So I waited until 6pm (8 hours) for the call and I never received one. At 6pm, I called Termix customer support for a second time, to explain that no one had showed up for the service I had scheduled OR followed up with me with an updated arrival time. The customer service representative (Erica) was not helpful in resolving the issue. Erica said she would call the inspector who was scheduled to come to my house to see why he did not show up or call me with an updated ETA. After she called him, she informed me the call went to voicemail. After she was unable to contact the inspector, she proceeded to ask me if I wanted to reschedule an inspection with Terminix. So I asked her if I rescheduled an appointment, would there be a 100% guarantee someone would show up and perform the inspection? She could NOT guarantee that if I booked an appointment, someone would show up to perform the inspection. Due to this lack of reliability, I declined to reschedule with this company. They sent someone out to me for pest control and as a new homeowner I signed up for the annual subscription of spraying around my house as I have centipedes and spiders. They had me sign a bunch of forms that I should have read but since the employee acted so casual about it, I just signed them. The next guy that came out for the second appointment said that their spray doesn't even work for spiders, which is a huge thing for me personally. I called and said I wanted to cancel my monthly subscription. They told me that I can't because I signed a contract saying I would be billed for a year. I told them I was dissatisfied with the service and they rudely told me that I should have known what I was signing for then. I have never seen a company with worse customer service for someone who was dissatisfied. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever received in my life. From reading other reviews today, it's very clear that this place hires unskilled technicians who know very little. I wish I had seen these reviews before hiring this company or I would have NEVER considered them. We've had squirrels in our attic for almost a month due to their Incompetence, disregard for basic customer service, & doing the exact opposite of what they said they will do. That is what you can expect if you decide to hire them. Please, I urge you, do not spend your hard earned money with them. I tried to get a refund and was met with a rude manager who made frequent excuses for the poor service I received. He clearly did not want to refund me despite my asking him to "move it up the ladder". It has been almost two weeks since I've requested a refund. No one from the branch will answer let alone return my call and the only thing corporate can do is send an email to the branch. There is no accountability for the poor service they provide so you really should not waste your time by hiring them. The inspector was not very knowledgeable, failed to detect two other holes in our facia that could be a point of entry, nor did she identify the animal droppings to indicate what kind of critter we had. She also broke the door to our attic. Next, the live trap was initially placed in the incorrect location, outside rather than in the attic which was the source of the issue and I was told it's because they can't come out every day to check it (by law they are supposed to) because they are short staff. After convincing them to place it in the attic, I placed a camera up there to check it daily and witnessed the squirrel walk into the trap and right out with the bait. I was infuriated and demanded them to fix the trap but by then the squirrel was too smart for the live trap and never went back in. Finally, the manager, Jason, has been awful. He tried to poke holes in my explanation to him of why we deserve a refund. I should not have to beg for my money back when the service I paid for was not executed properly. They caused us more physical, emotional, and financial damage then we had before we hired them. This should be a crime and I will continue to contact them until I am refunded. To say I am disappointed with service is a understatement. I signed a 1 year agreement which I am okay with but can never get service out to my Home. I have had 2 appts both missed. No call no show. When you call to talk to a rep they are alway busy which I also understand and you have to schedule a call back. Most of the time the customer service reps have been nice. The last one said she was calling the service tech to see what happened as it was 1.5 hours after my scheduled appointment and she hung up on me. No call back to fix the issue and I am still without a service call. I called this morning to get a call back today which will be day 3 of trying to get ahold of the company and still waiting 4 hours later. Poor customer satisfaction. Worst company ever. You're job is to rod the most annoying and irritating aspect of owing a home ...pest control... I told them I had an issue after 2 years of bi monthly payments... I requested a full in and out inspection and when the my came out the dude quit as soon as he could like "yup that's the problem" mind you when he stepped one foot out of truck and stepped in the front yard and looked at my garage. He literally didn't even offer to look at any other area of the house and left ... called to get an emergency appointment set up ... some "I'm 70 years old" lady "guaranteed" I'd have a visit the next day.... no call no show.... who do u guys have employed...? Ex bowling alley attendants...? Worse business practices ever... you must have thought that some esoteric history of your company will continue to keep you alive... it's 2018. Get it together, or u will fold soon So in reality I paid this company to come out once a month to ensure that I wouldn't have any pest issues which is important because we live in a very heavily wooded area with a creek in our backyard. Not only did they take my money but they totally failed at not identifying the pests that were trying to enter my home and eventually did enter my home which to me and any other normal breathing human being is complete and utter bullshit. So I had to hire an entirely separate company to come out assess the issue and provide an actual solution $600 later after paying Terminex $100+ every other month. The worst branch manager EVER! I had a regular service back in April. Approximately a week later, I started to see hoards of ants everywhere. Called them to come out again ( which didn't used to be a problem). Then, they tell me that the earliest they could come out was 2 weeks! And, there was no way to get an earlier time. Before, they would be there the same day or the next day. Plus, when the Technician did come out, she only had 1 ant trap. Then, I had to wait another week before they could come out again! In the meantime, we still had to deal with ants crawling on us day and night! Fast forward to 5 weeks later ( and 3 more visits), and on our next service call, they had all the ant traps we needed finally. I talked to corporate, and all the decisions are made by the branch manager. So, they are NO help. Since I wanted to talk to Pace Nielson (branch manager), I tried looking for the branch phone number, but everything I found just was forwarded to useless corporate. I put in requests to corporate to have Pace call me(NEVER did). And, then he denied my request for a refund with NO explanation or response. Plus, he is trying to charge me for the last service! I now have a fear of ants. I feel traumatized. I have been a customer of theirs for over 7 years, with NO problems. But, after the last 3 months, I have been treated horribly, and am not going to pay for the abuse we endured. If you like abuse and horrible treatment, definitely use this service! Let me start by saying I have never left a review, but this local Terminix is worthy of pushing me to do so. I can confirm that the other reviews are 100% accurate and I wish I would have read them before using this local Terminix. I signed up for a 1 year agreement and was told I would be able to cancel at any time (they do not mention there will be a cancellation fee for doing so - beware). I originally had them come out for an ant and centipede issue. The ants were taken care of, but the technician did nothing in the home to take care of the centipedes. Needless to say, the centipede issue has persisted. After a month and a half of attempting to get them to come back out, which was fully documented on their end, I finally had enough and told them to please cancel my service and refund me, as the website clearly states "100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back" - after a month and a half of no communication and failed attempts to get them to come back out, I was absolutely 'dissatisfied.' Long story short, the customer service reps/call center reps, who were very friendly and helpful, attempted to contact the local service manager to have him reach out to me... he did not do so, and his only communication was having the service reps tell me that he would not grant a refund as services were already performed... Yes, that is the actual answer I was given. Apparently, their obligation to their customer satisfaction commitment only applies before you actually have them treat your home... I had no intentions of cancelling, but after spending hours and hours trying to get them to come back out I decided it would just be best to go our separate ways and find a new service provider. Considering the initial issue was never resolved, it seems fair to refund me for the first visit, especially since they have their (apparently meaningless) "100% satisfaction or money back guarantee." After literally 6-7 hours on the phone I got them to finally agree to just cancelling and waiving the cancellation fee. Absolutely awful customer service locally and just feels like a grimey local branch. Save yourself and go with another provider if you're in the SE Michigan area and thank me later. All in all, stay clear of the Detroit area Terminx branch. The customer service reps that serve as the initial point of contact for the call center are great and do all they can, but unfortunately the actual service (branch manager / service manager) is awful. read more

Extremely expensive and upsell - Terminix sales person came to provide a quote to remove critters in attic and secure all entry points. The average when you check online is mostly about $500, less or more but not more than $1000. Terminix quoted $3500. Plus they want me to sign up for $200 annual payments to keep the warranty. These big name companies are horrible, all they want to do is rip off customers. The guy who came to give the quote started off saying "a home of this size, you are looking at $4000 plus". Their website claims thorough inspections, this guy looked in the attic but that was it. Rest of the time he sat in his car. Popped out twice with an ipad looked at the roof of the house and tapped on his ipad. This is the so called thorough inspection. read more

PLEASE BE HOME AND BE AWARE They are terrible they was supposed to spray the perimeter of my home he came to my home lightly knocked on the door even though I have a big ass ring door bell but whatever, he came and took a picture of my porch and then left and then send me a invoice of 180 dollars 10 minutes saying service has been completed. I have surveillance cameras around my home he did absolutely nothing smh now if I didn't have cameras I would have paid them not knowing if they have done anything and I call customer service and told them what happened and she called him and he said he would come back and do it now smh I told them if that theft and liar came back to my home I would fuck him up. Seriously 0 stars is more fitting for this company. Called in June 2021 for moths, ants, bees and spiders - we had just gotten our first home and wanted it to be clean. From the first appointment I should have known the rollercoaster I'd be on - we made an appointment for a Saturday morning between 10-12pm, 12:30 nobody is here and I called they canceled my appointment with no notice and rescheduled us for later that day as an apology; again nobody bothered to show up. This was after we'd rearranged our schedule twice. Fast forward to end of July 2021 we finally get our first application. September rolls around and there's no word on my next appointment until I get a notice from my bank that we were charged, checked the cameras and they did the application without any notice and charged us anyway. As of this review May 2022 the bees that are mentioned above are still living in my attics because they needed a special crew to come out and get them and that crew doesn't work late nights or weekends and needs to have access to the house to get them out. I have been hung up on, called a liar, rude personal and sexist slurs, left on hold for literal hours, and when I called the center itself it took the owner 2.5 MONTHS to get back to me after I called daily. We had the final application of our contract a week ago and the problem has only gotten worse! We are killing ants, moths and spiders daily and have spent more than $300 on over the counter items to get rid of them ourselves! We have hired a local bee keeper to get the bees out of the attic this summer and give them a proper home. I will never recommend this business to anyone and would advise you to stay as far away as possible. Unless you enjoy wasting time and money this company is not for you and is an absolute train wreck. read more

If you are looking for honest, easy to work with people ... keep on looking. We hired Terminex to perform get rid of bats in our attic, cost $2500. They would not come out to finish the job, kept telling us we needed to wait a little longer until they could finish. We stopped paying .... ok, we owe what we owe - so we paid the balance in full - then they sent us to collection in error! The pest control services are just OK, their billing is terrible. We also contracted them for quarterly service for bugs /spiders. Billed us for service after we cancelled and when they showed up at our home to provide service we told them we had cancelled months before. They billed us anyway! read more
