My fiancé surprised me by taking me to Terhune Orchards on 10/21/2016 and we had a lovely time there -- it was surprisingly empty for a Friday, around 3:00 PM not that I'm complaining! I hate crowds and being bumped into by people. The decor and area itself was lovely, flowers were plentiful and reasonably priced that he purchased two mums for me for $12.00 and we walked away with two cute pumpkins also for our home. It's a very lovely place for a date or to bring your family, especially to the farmer's market they have to the left where you can pay for everything. read more

My family and I have been going to Terhune Orchards for years. We went there yesterday 9/26 and were so disappointed. In previous years, you would grab a bag, pick apples, and pay by the weight. This year, you had to buy a bag before even picking the apples. There was a child size, medium size and large size. The real issue was FORCING every adult to buy a bag. As a couple, we wouldn't have picked more than 5 to 8 apples which is why a medium bag would've been perfect for us but forcing us to buy more is unacceptable. We asked if we could buy 2 child size bags instead and we were told No. Another problem was that the two cashiers were not following the same rules! One was allowing adults to go in without a bag and only purchasing apple bags for the children; and the other cashier was forcing every adult to buy a bag. This is also unacceptable as there seemed to be different rules depending who you went to. We did not end up apple picking but went to the Terhune farm. We purchased their wine and apple cider cinnamon sugar donuts (which were both delicious). read more

No apple to pick. We went there a few days ago, they charges a lot of $ for bag which requires one each person. However, there are no apples in most of the tree. Terhune Orchards is a great place for the picking season and spot for little kids. It is nestled away from the busy streets of Princeton, but not too hard to find. I went to the Orchards on a week day so my review may be totally different experience from the weekend. There are two areas for the Orchards: the main farm and the apple orchards. Parking can be limited, especially on the weekends. The main farm is where you can pick pumpkins, visit the farm animals, visit their winery and pick up a warm bag of donuts. Sooo good btw! You have the choice of picking the pumpkins in the field or from the bunch that are arranged in front of the farm store. My favorite part of visiting this place are the dogs, donuts and wine. You must try the peach wine! It tastes amazing. The orchard is pretty nice too; small and a quaint. Great place to spend during the fall season! read more

We went here on Labor day. The crowds weren't bad - one guy surmised everyone was out doing last minute back-to-school shopping. We picked concord grapes, there were very few left. You leave a $10 deposit for a tool to snip them off. The grapes are pretty good, but a bit tart and with seeds. We used to buy frozen cider when I was a kid, and my favorite part was the first glass which was slushy with ice. So the cider slushy here is brilliant and refreshing on a hot day. My daughter had fun playing on the old tractors and feeding corn (10¢ for a handful) to the goats. The produce store is substantial with some organic vegetable options. At this time of year, the u-pick apples are a short drive away, so we decided to just buy some in the store and come back when apples are in full swing (September 12-13 next weekend is the apple festival). My wife loved the fresh-cut flowers. We borrowed scissors from the cash register and my daughter picked out a variety of flowers for 25¢ each. They have some nice gardens to walk through, a field full of pedal tractors and tricycles. As an impulse buy while standing in the checkout line, I bought a sugar-free peach pie. I should have read the ingredients first - xylitol, margarine, mono and tri-glycerides, etc. Not what I was expecting for a farm-baked pie. Their description on the website is "home-baked", which is a stretch if not an outright lie. It left me wondering if they even used peaches from their orchards for the pie? The pie is edible, with a generic crust, but nothing special. read more

Worked with the sales team and their customer service left much to be desired. Did not return emails promptly and overcharged at every opportunity. On day of event arrived 10 minutes prior to set up time and was yelled at that I was early and nothing was set up! Then I was told because I came to set up they were adding 150$ to the bill because of the set up time. read more

Apple picking is always a favorite and when they made the Apple cider and the apple cider donuts ON THE FARM, the entire place smelled of apple cider. It was intoxicating. But times change. But most importantly I want to state that during the pandemic, when we were finally able to get outside, the farm WAS OPEN. WE WOULD TAKE OUR GRANDCHILDREN AND FEED THE DONKEY SHEEP AND GOATS. Good luck finding a place to park if you go here on the weekend in the fall. I advise you to get here early, not at high noon with the rest of the families and kids in New Jersey. Took me about 10 minutes but I finally secured a space. Though the farm offered apple picking, it was down the road and I was in no mood to battle another 100 cars in that particular area. The 2011 "apples terribleness" (unusually warm weather and no late-night freezes to deter the bugs and/or bees) seemed to have missed Terhune. There were some other apple trees near the parking lot I was in that looked like they had a bunch of apples on them that were ripe for the picking, and the pre-picked ones in the farm store looked really good. I was there for cider and cider donuts - which I got. Picked up a bag of 6 donuts and we killed them in just a few short hours. Just a little crispy on the outside, and served warm - the way they should be - delicious. Also had a few cups of fresh (cold) cider while we were waiting to pay for the cider donuts and the apple pie that I brought back to CT. My family killed it in 2 days, so it was definitely good. For all you pie aficionados, theirs (well, the apple at least) are a little less on the sweet side (I like that,) and the apples were a little less crunchy than pies I have had in the past. Still, 10 seconds in the microwave and that is fall on a plate. We stuck to the outer farm area; there was a separate, inner section with a food partition and a bunch of animals, corn maze, food, etc. Be aware, this section has an entrance fee ($10) but looked to be well worth it given the food I saw roaming around and how much all the kids seemed to be having. We also did some wine tasting, but they had run out of most of the seasonal harvest varieties and the tastes we did get were small, which was a little disappointing. What we did taste was amazing (which explains why they were sold out of a lot of their varieties) and we were able to take home two bottles of their blueberry (Harvest Blues) wine, one of which we killed that very evening. So basically, for fall-time activities, head there for cider, pie, cider donuts, and don't forget to head over for some apple picking and wine tasting if its not too late in the season. read more

Really lovely grounds. We went there with a living social deal for wine tasting. For 9 dollars it was wine tasting for two, two free glasses and $5 dollars off of a purchase. We ended up buying a bottle of the Front Porch and drinking it with our BBQ later that day. The people at the tasting were very nice and even let us have an extra taste when we couldn't decide between a few wines. Their farm store also had some nice selections. Their apple cider doughnuts come highly recommended and did not disappoint. Get them with the sugar! They'll be better. A lot of produce is on sale in the farm store as well. At the time we went, they had ran out of strawberries and only had asparagus. At 3.25 a pound, its better than most supermarket rates and you get the fun of picking your own. We didn't have a chance to explore the entire farm, but from the looks of it, they offer a great variety of different pick-your-own produce throughout the year, so we'll be back for more! read more

I absolutely loved this place! We came here for the Blueberry Bash. Before entering the festival grounds we tasted a few wines at the winery barn. The Blueberry one was excellent and so was the white one called Front Porch. Right when you enter they have a field of beautiful, colorful flowers that you can purchase. The farm store sold a lot of FRESH local produce. I bought these amazing strawberries, lettuce and a few other items. The reason I can't give them 5 stars is because they charged us $5 to enter the Blueberry Bash, but I didn't see why we needed to pay that considering everything within the place costed us money... Anyway, the food was really good! I had the BBQ chicken with a side of slaw. The cornbread was the SHIM SHAM! So good. The place was surprisingly not too crowded, it was perfect. They had an area with farm animals and place for children to play around. I enjoyed petting the farm kitty that was running about. We then did what we came for...blueberry picking! We paid $3 for a basket and bag which would go towards the total price of our blueberries. It was really enjoyable to be in the fields picking out our own selection of blueberries. We had a lot of fun goofing around in the fields. Afterwards I ended up with $3.19 worth so I only had to paid .19. Sweet deal! I would love to come back here for another fruit picking experience, perhaps strawberries. read more

One of the best times I've had in the state of New Jersey!! The atmosphere was absolutely delicious from the live music to the incredibly friendly employees. My friend and I were welcomed in and they took the time to answer all of our questions about the wine and recommend ones that they liked. The music was incredible, and everyone seems like they legitimately enjoy working there. The wine was absolutely delicious (especially the traminette, cold soil white, Harvest blues, and Just Peachy). I cannot recommend Terhune Orchards enough for a rainy or sunny afternoon. read more

I feel a little miffed that you pay $8 per person to get in and then another $3 per person to basically do manual labor (i.e. pick blueberries). It's hard to pick more than 1 lb per person even after 2 hours, so you end up "losing". It would be ok if they topped you off with the perfect blueberries they sell in the store, but they don't do that. The winery and live music are nice though. read more

Wine tastings for $5 with a variety of wines from sweet to dry to satisfy anyone's preference. The Apple cider donuts are my favorite! Super soft, baked fresh, and 6 for $4. I use to go here all the time as a kid and I loved it. As a kid, I give this place 5 stars!! Being older now there are only a few things that I enjoy about this place. The apple cider and apple cider donuts are great! I enjoy the general atmosphere the farm is beautiful and a relaxing place to spend the afternoon. I often enjoy going during the week in the Spring and Fall because there are less children around. Echoing what other reviews have said, this place can become a mad house during certain events. As a child, I don't remember my parents ever spending money to get into Terhune's. I now see that on certain days, you have to pay to get in. That disappoints me. I have also done one wine tasting here. Making wine is something that is somewhat new for Terhune's so they are probably still getting the hang of it. I wasn't super impressed with any of the wines I tasted but I would recommend doing a tasting here. Overall, this is a great place to take your kids. There is apple picking, pumpkin picking, and hay rides. As a child, I loved feeding the animals here, even though I was afraid that the horse would bite off my hand. They sell corn out for 25 cents a handful out of dispensers. read more

It dawns on me that I have neglected to review this longtime area orchard and farm. It has been a staple in the area for many years re the cider and apples. In somewhat recent years they added more crops, and a few years ago a winery as well. I like that they now grow many varieties of fruits and veggies. Some of the items are even u-pick at a nearby plot of land. I believe it is important for kids to see exactly where some of their food comes from, so kudos to them for devoting space to this worthwhile endeavor. They have a country type store that is open year round. Even in the winter there is usually some of their homegrown items on sale. You can also find some decent baked goods here( sadly they don't really make all these offerings from scratch, but just bake them off) The aforementioned cider is worth trying and buying. The winery tasting room is unfortunately only open on weekends( I tend to avoid coming here on weekends, very touristy and crowded) but is a cute barn setting with great servers on duty. Look for a living social deal if you plan on visiting, ours was a real bargain. As far as the wines, they tend to be on the sweeter side for the most part. The few dry that I tried were fair, but considering how new the business is, I am hopeful there will be improvement season after season. I did purchase a few of the sweet styles, and enjoyed as dessert wines. I plan on returning soon to see how this year's bottles are tasting. Locals should be proud to have such a diverse farm store and winery in their environs. And for those visiting the Princeton/ Lawrenceville/ Hopewell area, this is a nice side trip, and taste of the Garden state. 4 tart but sweet Yelps read more

Driving into the farm was a little confusing. We had to back track in order to find the apple orchard. They were having an autumn festive when I went and it was so cute. They have ponies for kids to ride and games for people to play. I saw so many little kids and they looked so cute trying to pick pumpkins that are double their size. I came here towards the end of apple season but the one I was able to bring home were still delicious. I don't know if they are organic. I was suggested about Terhune Orchards after I discovered the previous orchard I went to was sold and closed. Last September I visited and was told the apple orchards are on Van Kirk Road and NOT Cold Soil Road. Its better to get there early from September to October. Their Apple Days Fall Festival brings in visitors fast. They offer maps when you arrive. They have baked pies, donuts, apple cider, wines, pony rides, pumpkin painting and BBQ. The orchards is nice for families and groups. Terhune is definitely worth the trip. read more

Never gone fruit picking at Terhune, so can't comment on that, but I've always gone to Terhune during Fall weekends. Did not have to pay $5, as I didn't go apple picking. Terhune has some of the best tasting apple cider (better than other farms in NJ). The cider donuts are to die for but on weekends you'll have to line up for it. Pumpkin pies were sold out before we got there in the afternoon. Yes, going during a fall festival weekend is near insanity. But I personally enjoy the atmosphere even though that means some things I want to buy may be out of stock. The wine tasting is fairly priced ($5 for 5 tastings). If you like sweet/fruity wines, make sure you try their peach wine - it's a 2013 winner and is super delightful! read more

Really enjoyed my visit to Terhune, I had been meaning to get here forever and of course I decided to venture on the warmest day of October which made this feel like a circus. Despite all the crowds of people, everyone was in high spirits from the 68 degree weather and maybe a little loaded up on wine. We came for pumpkins and were very pleased to see laid out an arrangement or near perfect pumpkins for only $4-5! The sad part was that this was the least eventful pumpkin experience I have ever had, considering they were just put there on pallets versus actually being in a field. So we ventured to sniff out apple cider donuts and were lead to this lovely little hut full of organic vegetables and other delicious goodies. As we waited on line our arms grew tired of the amounts of things we kept picking up to purchase. The donuts, although cold were still every bit as delicious as the Fall season should be. Finally we decided to get a few sips of wine, a tasting is $5 for 5 wines which is reasonable. The tastings are a bit small compared to vineyards in the Bucks county area, but still delicious. They had a peach flavored wine that was excellent and a red barn one that was memorable as well. The bottle of wine was about $17 and you can not drink it on the premise, which is super weird since you can buy wine by the glass and drink it there. They had a band going and hayrides which we opted not to partake in, but overall it was a well oiled machine. This review is only for the apple picking orchards. It's a cute orchard, not too big. You won't get lost in it or anything, it's just rows of trees planted in a grid-like layout. I arrived around 3pm, so there wasn't much of a crowd. Big family/groups of friend's crowd, mostly nice. The staff seemed friendly, but felt overworked. This wasn't the most ideal way to get introduced to apple picking, though. Maybe it had to do with me coming in the middle of October, but when I arrived I was told they only had one apple variety which were still on trees unpicked. That was a little depressing, but the other varieties were still around just not as much, and on the ground, already. When I called, they informed me that there were still a good number of apples on trees, I would've preferred honestly. The main barn area was also a drive away, I didn't get to go there to try out any of the baked goods, so that was another bummer too. It was a cute experience though, and taught me to do apple picking in September next year. I can't compare this to any other orchards, seeing how this was my first time. I felt that the experience was average, from not having plenty of apples on trees to having your main farm area close early so I couldn't get there in time. read more

Our family enjoyed the corn maze, animals, and the hay stacks. Now for what we didn't like. Most of the food was disgusting. The good stuff was apple cider donuts, corn bread, candied apple, and the hot & cold apple cider. From there on things took a big turn for the worse. The pulled pork was terrible, very dry, no BBQ sauce, nothing! Just dry stringy meat on a cold super market bun. The chicken was dry with little seasoning. The coffee tasted nasty, like burnt water strained through a dirty gym sock. We bought two pies from their food market, coconut custard and apple, and both were a disappointment. The custard pie had a nice texture, but the custard was very salty and not sweet. The apple pie was very tart, and the crust very salty. Both pies were almost inedible. It would also have been nice for families if they had proper bathroom facilities. The 20 porta-potties lined up behind the buildings were filthy. read more

This was my first time coming to this farm! Lots of handwashing stations and room for social distancing. My friend and I went into the farm store and grabbed some produce and apple cider donuts (amazing by the way). The workers inside were very sweet and gave us scissors to pick our own flowers. I know the pandemic is a challenge but if you are not checking the amount of people allowed in the store at a time then don't yell at people when it clogs up-- it's a small space. Parents are not leaving their young children outside to pay for their goods. I don't have small children but I am not a fan of "if you are not paying, then all others wait outside." I love this place. They have pick-your-own for several NJ favorites (including asparagus) and are organic. Their apples are amazing, and their apple cider donuts are orgasmic. Two large lab dogs spend their time enjoying the naps on the porch and pets from visitors. Cats purr as you walk past. My favorite part is the wine though. Regardless of your tastes for wine- dry/sweet/fruity/etc., they have something to satisfy. The usual wine tasting lady is so personable and just amazing. She gave one of my top wine tastings (and I have been to my fair share). They pop up on Living Social during less busy seasons (especially winter/early spring), so keep an eye out for a wine tasting for two deal which is hard to pass up ($10 for 2 people- including wine tasting, souvenir glass, and $5 credit in the store). Wonderful place to head to on a sunny day with your friends or family. Easy parking, took my parents there for Mother's Day for free wine tasting and they really enjoyed it and bought a bottle. Favorite is no doubt the Harvest Blueberry! The lady in charge of wine tasting is so sweet and personable. They have a nice trail you can walk around and a few animals to see, always see parents bringing their little kids around to play. SO impressed with this place. We came here for a Bunny Run around Easter.... adorable wagon rides, placed for small karts for kids, feeding options and free corn--it was a blast. We decided to have my son's 1st birthday party themed Peter Rabbit. We had a party of 65 adults under a red and white tent, which they set up. They offer a pretty nice packaged rate with a wagon ride, cupcakes or cake for guests, tables and chairs, food for the animals, coloring books (which we didn't use). We also had an amazing helper assigned to just take care of parties and she was extremely patient! Their organizer and head of parties has an email, and it's best to request that since she replied VERY fast. But, schedules varied of when she would be at the farm so I wouldn't even try calling the farm to talk about birthday parties. Their cider donuts were delicious! As were their cupcakes and apple cider... everything was perfect. The weather was great as well-- and it just seemed like the perfect place to have a spring time/summertime birthday party. They also contract with a new pony company and know that you will be pleased by their professionalism as well. My advice, however, is to have a small 35-40 person party and do it near the orchard and open field and not in the back tents since it can get a little too secluded and far back from the beautiful open fields and animal area. read more

This would be a 3.5 star review! I used to go to Princeton, and this was a nice place to go to get away from the Orange Bubble. They have a ton of different places to pick fruit, and they have a wide variety of produce to choose from. Their apple cider is delicious and fresh, and their apple cider donuts are really sweet and moist. Parking is a bit of a pain to find, especially during the fall, when everyone is coming to pick apples. I think there should be a clearer depiction of where each type of crop is etc. It was confusing to try to find the apple orchard, then the other orchards. Also, I found out that I was allergic to some sort of sting but didn't find out until long after I left the orchard. As a preventative measure, I hope that the orchard has some emergency precautions for these types of occurrences (which I'd imagine happen more often than we would like!) read more

Really awful experience. Brought my service dog with me and when questioned about what service she performed (she's trained to detect a number of severe allergens for me), I was wrongly told that is not a disability under the ADA. I said I didn't have a doctors note on hand but confirmed once more that she was in fact a service dog. Still, I was told I had to leave. My trained service dog was displaying zero behavioral issues, and I feel I was unfairly and unlawfully asked to leave because the farm owner could not control her untrained, barking dogs. HORRIBLE experience here. If there were zero stars available or negative, I would've selected that. One star isn't low enough. We went apple picking with my one year old, and after paying HIDDEN extra service fees just to get in, a very nasty person stopped us because we had 2 extra apples; one my daughter was holding and one I picked up from the ground, and she wanted to charge us extra money for those apples. This place is a corporate greed monster disguised as a local farm. I will NEVER go back again. I noticed every year they have gotten worse and worse in their greed, but this HORRIBLE experience of questioning and stopping us for a few apples!?!?!? Disgusting.
