I found out about this place from Garden State Wine Growers Association Website (newjerseywines.com). For Valentine's day I really wanted to do the wine and chocolate pairing with my boyfriend. He decided on the winery in Princeton. It was a foggy and rainy day, which only added to our experience. When we walked in to the main building - the place had barrels in the back, live performance and of course lots of wine choices!! We chose the Valentines tasting special - when we received 4 wine samples, a box of 4 chocolates to go with the wine, and a souvenir cup for $28 total. All in all we had a good time. I purchased a bottle of the "Front Porch Breeze" Blush Wine we sampled. There was also a stand with food you can purchase like assorted cheese boxes, candy etc. We wanted to eat in a restaurant so we did not purchase anything else. When we walked out we noticed a sign for a store right across the main building. The room was stocked up with fresh product. You can just smell the freshness of the fruits and vegetables in the air. We ended up purchasing cherry pie (big one for $18) and my favorite apple cider! I have to say their pie selection was quite large and suited for anyone. Gluten free, sugar free, I counted at least 5 different flavors! They also carried cheeses and other products. Overall it wasn't the best winery I've been to, BUT I am excited to go back in the spring/ summer season! People might think we were silly to visit Terhune Orchards in the winter, but we made the short journey over here to see the area in the offseason. The summer and fall apple picking seasons are certainly the busiest times of the year. The weather is nice, the flowers are blooming, the people are playing outside. Instead, we decided to venture out here during the least busy time of the year because we saw that there was wine tasting with a local musician in the barn on a Saturday afternoon. Situated in the barn, there's ample options for snacks, wine, and some nice tunes. With a less busy crowd, we were also able to mix and match the wine flights. We went with the following wines: Farmhouse White Vidal Blanc (taster) Traminette Chambourcin (red wine) Apple Wine We unintentionally landed on 4 white wines (me not realizing the apple wine is actually a white wine). The Vidal Blanc was our favorite one of the 4, even as it was a taster. The Chambourcin was a solid red wine. Nice and smooth. The other wines were alright. We then got a cheese board (which had so much cheese that we took some home) and a mulled wine. Each of the items were around $18, so to split amongst 2 wasn't that bad. We enjoyed walking around the farm, especially since the fire pits were lit up during the daytime. I see the appeal of walking around here though during the offseason. I certainly do. read more

Terhune orchards is a staple NJ spot for fall activities such as a pumpkin patch, corn maze, wine tastings, and apple picking. A while ago, I'd gone at the end of the season, so I was able to pick apples at the main farm, so I came with that expectation this year. It doesn't seem to be the case if you come earlier in the season, so keep that in mind. This time around, it also seems that the ticketing has changed a bit. There are options to do a wine tasting + getting a wine glass + adding some food options to your ticket which I didn't see in previous years. Apple picking is not included in these tickets and will be a separate charge on site. This year I came somewhere in the middle of apple picking season and it seemed that there weren't too many spots to pick apples. My go-to purchases are always the apple cider, the donuts and traminette white wine. They are fantastic quality and can be purchased year round. I think given how crowded it has gotten over the years, I may consider another orchard for apple picking, but will always swing by the store for the wine and the donuts! read more

This farm was filled with many different activities including wine tasting (from their in house made wines), pick your own flowers, farm animals, and a store with fresh fruits, veggies, and baked goods. Definitely recommend their frozen peach wine and cheese plate. There's lots of fun things to do for both adults and kids! The good: donuts are still delicious , my favorite wine from there is still great and even discovered a new one that I like since we did the wine tasting. The Bad: I've been coming to Terhune for years and stopped by this weekend with my family. I'd have to agree with a few of the recent comments that things have changed ( for the worse). It seems like everything is a cash grab now. You pay an admissions fee, pay to pick apples, there's no more hayrides and there's only a few animals near the barn area. I hope management takes into consideration providing more experiences and activities for the price of admission and also taking into account that forcing people to pay for apple picking even if they are not interested. The porta potties were also dirty. Wish I could give 2.5 but again Yelp doesn't allow half ratings. I don't think I will come back to the farm based on my experience this weekend. read more

I had a hard time picking a star review for Terhune. I would say it's more of a 2.5 when you go during peak days / hours and a 4 when you go during the off season. I'm sticking with 4 because we go during the off season and always have a good time. We've learned to stay away from Terhune during peak Fall season. From what I remember Terhune didn't have admission fees until recently. I was going to meet up with some friends here at the end of October but we all decided that the admission fees were too much and we would spend way too much money there. So, instead, I headed to Terhune this past Saturday (November 16th) when there were no admission fees. It was a beautiful day and the farm was so quiet and lovely. They had live music at the wine tent and food was being served in the barn cafe. The kids LOVE playing at Terhune. They have a little "race track" where they can ride tricycle bikes around a gravel path. They have little play houses and other structures the kids can climb on. They have animals you can feed. And many photo ops. When we went the corn maze was free and the kids did it multiple times. Their apple cider donuts are glorious and they also have mini donut holes on the weekends. Their hot mulled cider is delicious and a perfect compliment to a cold fall day. The fruit and produce they sell always looks impeccable and it's hard to not buy everything in the store! Terhune is definitely a lovely farm to visit during the off season. read more

First time here. At least the parking situation was organized when entering. We bought tickets for one of the festivals. Honestly, it's just an entrance fee and allows you to do the activities. When we needed to use the restrooms and asked where they were, we were turned off go see that the only options were a porta potty. Not the most ideal situation for us. The activities definitely seem more tailored towards children. We visited what I thought would be like an indoor winery, but it was a tent outside with them pouring wine into plastic cups. Not really the winery experience I anticipated, which is fine. Tried a few and they were just okay. We did the hayride which was not very scenic and also an extremely bumpy ride, but it was something to do. The corn maze was different though, so that was cool. We also fed some animals, but you have to buy the feed yourself separately. We visited the market store and that was really fun. We really liked the apple cider donuts and we bought some pies which were yummy. Also bought a pumpkin. It was a fun daytime activity, with activities tailored mostly to families with children. I don't know if I would take the trip to go all the way there again especially with the bathroom situation. read more

You can feed animals, bring quarters for the machines or ask for change in the store. They have a winery with many different wine selections. They sell food which is always delicious. It wasn't too far of a drive from my sister's place so we were able to form a large group and go together. We went cherry picking. They were sweet and delicious. It was so much fun. Both my daughter and my niece were just 1 year old at the time but they also had a blast. It was a great bonding moment for everybody. The only downside was that we went on the hottest day of the year and it was specially humid in there by all the cherries. Everyone was drenched within seconds. The staff was really nice. I've had this place saved for a while but never went until today. I went on a weekday so there didn't seem to be an admission fee. We were able to browse around-- they had animals, a corn maze, a playground, wine, a market, and a pumpkin patch. The corn maze was fun and there was an interactive part where you have to find the different posts in order to determine what produce you can eat for good luck :) I got the semi-sweet wine flight and my favorites were the peachy and blueberry ones. The apple cider donuts were good but they would be even better if they were fresh and hot. The cafe wasn't open so we got a charcuterie box. Nothing too fancy. I would've liked if the cheese was pre sliced, as it was hard to cut through the block of cheese with a plastic knife. You are sitting outside, so beware of the bees and bugs checking out your food. They have bathrooms but it smelled weird, not sure if that's a normal occurrence. There's also portapotties. I don't think I would pay an admission fee to go here on the weekend, but it's a cute spot for fall festivities, produce, and wine on a weekday. read more

Went apple picking. It used to be that you would pay by the pound. Now they force all members of the party to buy a bag (min $10 for a tiny bag!). It feels like a cash grab and detracts from an otherwise nice experience. They do have a nice orchard, but I don't want to feel like I am taken advantage of. I've visited mostly in the fall for apple picking with my nieces & and nephew, and wine tasting with my mom. But more recently, I visited with a friend for the Just Peachy Festival! Started with food - BBQ Chicken was ok. Fries were on point. And the apple cider was so/so. It's definitely MUCH better in the fall! The wine - They have a variety of wine tastings to choose from, based on your preference: Dry-white, red, semi-sweet, or a variety! I absolutely love the cold soil white (muscat grape base with notes of clove & pear) - so much so I never leave without a bottle to go! We found a lovely table for 2 under a shady tree and proceeded to indulge in the delectable wines! It's time to walk off the wine! We strolled around the farm, past the u-pick flower field and apple orchard. Onto the Barn Door Cafe for some peach, chocolate, and blueberry ice cream :) You can also grab a piece of pie or cool off with an apple cider slushy. Finally, off to the farm store! Picked some super sweet peaches, wine, an apple cider slushy, and a bag of the cinnamon sugar apple cider donuts - YUM!!! That sums up our day at the Just Peachy festival! The thing about Terhune Orchards is that there's something for everyone - an outing everyone will absolutely enjoy! Terhune Orchards is the true description of family fun for everyone. Plenty for the kiddos to enjoy like a petting zoo, hay rides, corn maze, and what I would compare to a "fun house", but what I was shocked and happy to see was that they had a Wine Tasting Room. Pumpkin/Apple picking just got a heck of a lot more fun. In the wine tasting room you can pick up an ordinary glass of wine OR you can try one of their wine slushies both were loved by my group. After a long day of apple/pumpkin picking we stopped by the Farmer's Market to grab a few apple cider donuts to go. Cider donuts here are 10/10 so dang delicious. Pro Tip: Parking is ample, but get here early to get parking close to the entrance. The later you get here the further you'll have to walk to get inside. read more

Visiting a farm on a weekday is truly a privilege. No crowds, no noise, just a few people leisurely milling about, enjoying the peace and quiet of the autumn season, just like yourself. Highly recommend choosing a weekday, instead of a weekend, to have the premises to yourself, to truly enjoy the nature. Granted, there will be no weekend festivities [for which you have to purchase tickets], but you will still have so much to do. We went apple picking in mid-October, when most apples are already gone and many farms no longer do pick your own. However, this farm had quite a lot of apples for October 17th, so we enjoyed plenty. No entrance fee to pick your own apples. You purchase a bag at the entrance. The prices are: $9 for 3.5lb bag [1/4 peck], $13 for 5lb bag [1/2 peck], $26 for 10lb bag [1 peck]. The bags on display look small, and the bag that your receive looks even smaller. You can purchase those same apples at the farm store, for cheaper, but the joy is in the picking. The apple orchard is not that large, so a few hours will be plenty for filling your bag. The farm store is located not far. You can purchase goodies, flowers, and produce. There is also a petting zoo, a playground, a swing, and a pond for family enjoyment. Pony rides and a corn maze are available for purchase. During the weekend, there is also music and food. For those "Fall Festival festivities" you need to purchase tickets, which really does not justify a long drive all the way here. read more

Beautiful farm! Came for the blueberry picking season as we were too late for the strawberries. $3 per person and it gets deducted from the cost of your weighted blueberry pickings when you leave. Rows and rows of blueberry bushes, which started off as pretty tall, but majority of them are on the shorter side Parking is a bit limited so there aren't that many spots. Definitely get the apple cider slushie to cool off before you leave! read more

It used to be our favorite spot for apple picking. My son loves to come here to look at the bunnies . However, today we came and left right away. 25 usd per person just to enter the property and get a pumpkin is way overpriced. Family of 3 - 75 dollars plus extra charge for 3 for apple pickings- seems unreasonably high. Instead we went to alpaca farm 15 min away and our son had so much fun there. Apple picking was disappointing, the good apples were too high to reach while the lower branches had very few apples. There was an incredible amount of smashed and wasted apples on the ground. You are forced to purchase a bag for each person, so my mother who is elderly and didn't pick apples had to buy a bag for $10.00. I think $30.00 for mediocre apples is excessive. Terhune wants to have their cake and eat it too. It makes more sense to buy them at the farm store and pick the ripe red fruit. They sell the best in the store and have the apple pickers get what's left. Very disappointing. Staff are kids who look bored and can't answer questions. read more

Terribly overpriced - $25 admission just to enter the grounds (applies to kids over 3). So our family of 5 would pay $125+ tax just to enter. We arrived less than 2 hours before closing, so the entrance fee seemed very wasteful. The girl at the entrance recommended going to their orchard for apple picking instead (3 min drive), and told us you just pay for the apples you pick. We drove there only to find out that each person has to buy a bag for picking, starting at $10/bag for the smallest. So yes, that's $50 for some apples (we'd never fill 5 bags). Felt like customers are just being taken advantage of. Despite driving over 1 hour to get here, we chose to leave and go elsewhere. Lots of good orchards out there that don't take advantage. Despite a good experience here in the past, we will not return. read more

Fun apple picking with a wide variety to choose from including Red delicious, Empire, Golden delicious and Stayman Winesap. Come early in the season for popular honey crisp. Really a nice place to go to get some super fresh sweet and a large variety of apples. It wasn't exactly cheap but it wasn't extremely expensive. They give you a nice map of the orchard and tell you which apples were ready for picking. I would imagine that weekends are crazy busy but if you like a nice day to go apple picking with someone and you don't want it to be crazy head there on a nice afternoon on a weekday in Sep there were maybe 10 cars in the parking lot and the orchard is quite large so we never really came across anyone else. read more

Terhune Orchards has been my favorite farm since we used to sell their pies in High School as a fundraiser for our crew team. Whether it's cherry picking in June, apple picking in fall, or blueberry picking in July you'll always find a time of year and reason to come here. Throughout November they are having live musical performances in their tasting room over the weekends. Weekends in October were "family fun day." This charging entry beyond parking, is a bit controversial in the posts. The farm store is probably where you want to spend the most, but the quality is exceptional and the prices are still reasonable. Daily they have fresh soups and cider donuts. They have a wide selection of produce. Check their pick your own calendar in advance if you want to do that. If not, just hop by the store, and you will see what's in season there. I really love the free baby apples available for kids at the entry. It's nice to have an offering where everybody gets to walk away with a sweet snack. If you spend money on only one thing here, go for the pies. The Apple crumb and pumpkin are our family favorites. Also, it's good manners to greet the farm dogs at the White House near the farm store. If they are not there, the farm version of the bodega kitty will be happy to be pet. read more

I've never gone apple picking before, but what an experience! It's a little past the Terhune Fall Festival and with free parking. No reservations needed beforehand, it's walk in! Once you go to there, you walk to a white tent where you can choose the kind of apple picking bag you want: small, medium or large bags. They have a table showing how many apples each bag can hold for your reference. You also receive a map of all the different apple orchards and where they are. As you walk into the apple orchards, you'll find rows and rows of Granny Smith apples, empire apples, Fuji apples, stayman winesap apples, golden delicious apples and red delicious! You can go up to the trees, pluck what you would like and put it in the bag you purchased. If you're short like me, they also have apple picking tools scattered throughout the orchards so you can grab it and go! I spent about 1.5 hours there, I even went back to the white tent to buy more bags to put my apples in. Please note: you can only use the bags they provide to pick your apples!! read more

After fees and other BS it came to $103. $15 extra... Once you've paid this amount, you come to find that pony rides are $12. Cut flowers $12. Pumpkins - pay by the pound. Food - overpriced with lengthy lines and all no cash! Definitely NOT the place for you and the family. A relative waste of money and just a negative experience. I went here over the past weekend, my family and I were in search of a fun outdoor activity to do, ideally Apple picking and wine tasting. this was my first time coming here as an adult, so I didn't realize how much there actually is to do. we first stopped and grabbed some Apple cider donuts to pick through while we walked around but then went over to the wine tasting where we tried both the blueberry wine slushie, dry white flight and semi-sweet flight. they dry white flight was definitely the favorite with the Vidal Blanc and Farmhouse White being the favorites. The semi-sweet flight was really sweet, just peachy though was the favorite in the thought process of it'd make a great sangria. We moved on to flower picking or cutting which the flowers were gorgeous, and it was such a fun and peaceful activity. They also had pumpkins you could pick or paint for the younger kids. Tons of great spots for a photo op, and saw everyone from families, to friends hanging out, to couples on a date. We also stopped in and picked up a few more treats at the barn store on our way out. The only thing that was a little bit of a bummer is the apple picking area is at a separate location, free, but you have to leave Terhune and drive to the Apple picking orchard. read more

$14 pp to get in buys the right to purchase ciders, pies and donuts from Terhune's labyrinth of farm stands and wander through a smallish corn maze. Forget that this treatless trick is absurd on its face, the enormity of the crowds who don't seem to mind astound me. Before a family of four steps inside, they're already $56 in the hole and counting. There are plenty of other places to get your head-start on some Fall wanderlust that don't seem to feel picking your pocket is appropriate. And considering I can purchase their cider at any number of supermarkets in the area, why put up with it. As with most things, what the hell do I know. Judging from the crowds, not much. read more
