My son recently finished two weeks of summer camp at Teragi and he loved it. His only complaint was time passed by too quickly. Although it isn't close to home, it was definitely worth the drive. The facility is beautiful, staff is awesome and my son had an amazing time. He looked forward to going every day! Since I was in the area to drop off my son, I stayed for a couple drop-ins myself. The ladies in the women's only class were very welcoming. It was nice to be in a group of ladies that were uplifting. Professor Marianna, Coach D., Coach Greg and the other professors and coaches in adult and kids classes were patient and took their time to make sure students were understanding what was being taught. I especially love that kids classes and adult classes ended with live rolls. What's learned through pressure of live rounds cannot simply be taught. Thank you Teragi to helping us mix up our summer routine.

My 4 yo refused to do sports of any kind, couldn't sit still for more than a few minutes at best, and has a speech delay. From day 1 Teragi was friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and patient with him. We're on month 3 now and he has transformed into a new child - verbal, pays attention, follows directions, and having a BLAST in every class. He asks to attend class everyday. My daughter and I both attend classes now at Teragi also. Instructors and fellow students are easy going, not egotistical, and helpful. The team goes out to learn your name, your kids names, your spouse and other family members. They are creating a great space and environment in Fullerton and the surrounding areas. I see the more seasoned classmates helping out my daughter, showing her the ropes. These classmates do this without any direction from their parents or instructors. That is testament of the type of high caliber families at this organization. Teragi also handles after school care for kids, women's only classes, and yoga. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Ask the Community - Teragi Academy

What's the youngest age for kids to join?

Little Champs is for ages 4-5. That's the youngest.

Are you still offering self defense classes?

Hi, we have self-defense curriculum that is incorporated into our martial arts training as we teach Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. However, short term self-defense courses are offered seasonally so check with us periodically. We usually offer self defense…

What program is offered for 5 yr olds? I couldn't find any age related info on the website.

Hi, for 5 year olds, we offer Jiu Jitsu classes and summer camp. They may qualify for the after-school academic and Jiu Jitsu program if they are in Kindergarten.

Check out who he has trained under, trained with, and trained up. There is a reason Lucas is such a popular and well known figure in the Brazilian Jiujitsu community. There is nobody harder working for his students than Lucas. But be warned: as nice and caring as Lucas is, he won't let you slack off. He won't let you cheat yourself. Which is why we love him. This gym is full of all types. We have competitors who have brought home world championship titles in Gi, no Gi, under all rule sets, and at all weight and belt levels. We also have those who, like me, don't focus on competing but are there more as "sport practitioners" who use it as a way to get in shape, learn something new, and push ourselves to be better. We have those there solely for weight loss and confidence building. We have those that take it for self defense, and others who train because it helps their mental health. The kids program is robust and extremely well run with daily classes, parents, come have your child get some confidence and burn off all their energy before bed. I pray I can train as long as physically able to under Lucas and beside my team mates here at Checkmat La Habra.

But like swim, we think of this sport as a life skill, a sport that we want the boys to do for their lifetime. Coach Alex is patient and very thorough in his demonstrations and examples. The other instructors are just as wonderful in their instruction and flexibility in working with the kids. Life lessons of anti-bullying, social responsibility, and being a good citizen are discussed with the kids in here which is a huge bonus. The classes go at the right speed that doesn't intimidate or burn out my sons and encourages them while learning. There are advanced students here who probably compete or are looking to do that. My sons are athletic but not on the aggressive side and this dojo is perfect for them and all types of kids looking to learn and excel in this sport. Because of this, I do see my sons staying for the long run. We are in no rush to get belt stripes or compete - we want our boys to continue at their pace and be excited to go to class. The staff of Izabella and Analise are the best - always welcoming, friendly and helpful. They are the perfect representation of this dojo. If you're looking into martial arts for your kids, I highly recommend you give this place a try! I know they also have adult classes, and it looks like to be a responsible run dojo that adheres to the Gracie guidelines. I also love seeing all the girls in this sport! Thank you Coach Alex and team! Huge thumbs up!

Rounders is the first and only MMA gym I've been to so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt…read morebut this place is great. From the beginning I stopped by just to get more information on the membership and I was offered a free trial class to jump into that same day. They have loaner equipment for anyone just wanting to try things out and the environment is very inviting. In the few months that I've been coming here the coaches have always been attentive with everyone's learning experience and come to every class with drills ready. There's people of all skill levels so you don't feel out of place, no egos or anything, everyone welcomes you with open arms. This is a great place to come to whether you just want to get in shape, learn a martial art/self defense, or even want to pursue fighting. For what they offer the prices are solid too, membership gives you everyday access to all their classes from boxing and muay thai to wrestling, BJJ or even full MMA.

Bottom Line Up Front: I give this gym 5 out of 5 stars --…read moreand that says a lot because I've been training in martial arts since 1995 and am a certified instructor in multiple systems. But let me break it down as to why it gets my seal of approval. What You'll Learn: Rounders offers multiple martial arts: Boxing, Muay Thai (kickboxing), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kali (a Filipino knife-fighting system), and Mixed Martial Arts (which combines striking, wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu). In the past they have also offered wrestling and Judo. So there's something for everyone. Regardless of what class you pick, you'll learn how to protect yourself while getting a great workout. What You'll Gain: Like I mentioned, you'll get a killer workout in a safe and fun environment. According to some studies, you could burn anywhere between 300 to 800 calories in a single 1-hour kickboxing class. It's far more efficient (and fun!) than running on a treadmill. And the added bonus is that you'll learn self-defense along the way. Who You'll Meet: From co-owner Joe Kim to all the other instructors, the coaches here are physically talented, knowledgeable, and easy-going despite being deadly warriors. They create a positive atmosphere so that everyone -- from brand new rookies to combat sports veterans -- has fun while learning. And that trickles down through to the students, who are all supportive and welcoming. The Space: The gym is medium-ish in size compared to other gyms in the area; enough to hold one large group or two smaller sessions at the same time. The equipment is top notch. And the workout space is well maintained. There's also a small section for weight training, too. The Cost: I've visited other gyms with outrageous prices (like $200 a month for only Jiu-Jitsu!). Fortunately, tuition here is reasonably priced -- with options to drop-in, go month-to-month, or commit to 6 months or a full year. (The latter two doesn't mean you have to pay upfront, just that you'll be charged automatically for your chosen time frame and save more over the long term.) And considering those options give you unlimited classes for all of the martial arts classes, Rounders is totally worth it. Conclusion: Rounders MMA Fullerton is an ideal gym to join, whether you're looking to lose weight, learn some self-defense, or just belong to a cool community who will encourage and grow with you.
