I have attended other karate establishments, but I have never found anything matching the quality of instruction that I receive here. Master Quinlan teaches practical, useful karate and self-defense and belts are earned, not given. In the last three years, I have seen my kid's confidence in themselves grow tremendously as well as my own, and as a father I am beginning to feel confidence in my children's ability to protect themselves in dangerous situations, even at their age. One of the things I respect most about Master Quinlan is that he holds his students accountable, holds them to high standards, and yet maintains such a good rapport among them. As a high school teacher, I understand the difficulty of being able to maintain both high standards and good relationships, but he does an exceptional job at both. Another thing that I respect about Master Quinlan from the perspective of a teacher, is that, just as a good school teacher differentiates instruction for students with different needs, so does Master Quinlan. I have never seen him refuse any student that wants to learn, but rather meet students where they are with the goal of simply making them better, one step at a time. They have a great starter special $99 for 9 weeks which includes a complimentary uniform. If your child chooses to continue on, however, it gets a little expensive but is soooooooo worth it! The annual dues are $1095, and around $225 for sparring gear. This is for 3 classes per week (2 regular classes, and 1 sparring session). So the annual fee comes out to $7.30 per class. Be warned, though, because they want a commitment from the child and parents alike, they ask for the full amount up front, or you can pay it in 4 installments if you cannot choke down the entire fee at once. I cannot stress enough how much self confidence and self motivation my daughter has gained studying Taekwondo with Master Han and his Black belt teachers. She looks forward to every class, and I look forward to taking her!

I paid about $100 to be trained, not to be treated like a child…read more Instead of focusing on helping me improve my boxing, the coach seemed more interested in telling me what to do and what I could and couldn't wear. I was wearing a hoodie, and he kept telling me to take it off. I politely said no because I was comfortable wearing it. Instead of respecting my decision or simply explaining why it mattered, he told me to "go sit down." That was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Good coaches know how to communicate with people. If there's a safety concern or a gym policy, explain it with respect. Don't embarrass paying members or act like you're their parent. I came to learn boxing, not to be ordered around over something as simple as a hoodie. The coaching and customer service were disappointing, and the way I was treated made me feel completely unwelcome. There are plenty of boxing gyms that know how to treat their members with respect. I won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this gym based on my experience very unprofessional. I paid to be coached, not to be disrespected. Because of the way I was treated, I won't be coming back. I hope you learn to communicate with your members more professionally and treat paying customers with the respect they deserve.
