My daughter and I have been attending Victorum 2 days a week since January. I can honestly say this place is the best in the AV for a couple reasons. 1. I sat in on atleast 3 other academies in town and noticed that Victorum had by-far the most welcoming staff and students. This might account for the large number of women that train here. Students and staff are have been so helpful throughout or BJJ journey. It's already feeling like family. 2. The professors here actually roll with their students. They are in the trenches with us everyday. And to top it off they are still driving out of town to world class academies on a weekly basis so that they keep their own tool sharp and also so they can always bring us gold nuggets. I finally found a sport that my son enjoys. I don't necessarily believe that it is just jujitsu, he enjoys the instructors and the other students. As a parent who has done extensive research and enrolled our children in some well known gyms, I can confidently claim that my husband and I have both agreed that Victorum is the absolute best and we are beyond ecstatic to have found our "home." They have set the bar so high that it would be impossible to find another gym that can bring what Victorum brings to the table. It was so important for me to find a place that was nothing but positive in every aspect and we have FINALLY found it. If you want a true leader to guide and teach your children, Coach Frank is THE MAN. He leads by example and speaks to your children as if they were his own. There is NO FAVORITISM here. While there are other equally qualified and respectable coaches that assist, Coach Frank works closely with each and every child (unlike some other gym owners we have encountered in the past). He is the epitome of a true and effective leader: encourages, communicates well, is graceful, respectful, honest, passionate, committed, accountable, and is a man of integrity. Most importantly, HE is patient and BELIEVES IN AND INSPIRES YOUR CHILD(REN). He takes his time getting to know your child and relates to them in a way that works best for your child. He is a man who will invest in his students so that everyone (especially) your child can see, believe, and reach their full potential. Coach Frank also actively trains himself- you can tell he would never ask his students to do something he isn't willing to do himself. My kids have had the honor of training with Coach Frank for a while now and even just after a few classes, I can already see their confidence growing. They have shown and demonstrated that they have learned way more in a few classes here than they did at their previous gym. There are so many details that make this gym feel like home. For starters, it is extremely organized and well cared for. Amenities include: free WiFi, a microwave, free well stocked coffee bar and water dispenser that is always full (so you don't ever have to feel guilty if you forget to bring your water bottle), several tables and chairs for you to sit at (which comes in handy when my children have to do homework while their other sibling trains). There are 2 big screen TVs that display Jiu Jitsu videos which are great because while my son is waiting for his class to start, i have seen him watching these videos which I'm sure inspires him. They also play music but not loud enough to prevent you from enjoying conversations. The facility has 2 restrooms: men and women's. The women's restroom is always equipped with things you may need: new ponytails, spray deodorant, etc. This is truly a positive family environment. Everyone is so friendly and respectful that I always forget I've been here more than 2 hours a day and kind of get sad when it's time to go home. Lol. As a parent going through Covid this whole year has been tough having a household with 5 boys and myself and husband working this is really a great atmosphere for the kids to learn discipline and interact and make new friends! This Gym has went above and beyond with my son Kalani being one month in not only has his confidence as grown but also lost a couple of pounds now being members for a month with my 7 year old Kalani we enrolled our 8 year old Damian! Victorum Athletics was referred to us from a close family friend. My husband and I were looking for an activity for our 5 year old son. An activity that would break him from his shell, while learning discipline and respect. The first time we walked into the gym, it just felt right! Coach Frank and his wife Linda were absolutely amazing and gave us that "family-like" feel. At first our son was very shy and didn't even want to tell Coach Frank his name. The gym is amazing! I've been to other guys out here and visited many across the state and country. This is definitely one of the best gyms in the I've ever been to. There is no pressure from the professor and they support a great cause. I moved to Lancaster a few years ago and had no friends or family within a 300 mile radius. I never thought of Lancaster as "home" until this past year and Victorum Athletics is a part of that. Fast forward to today... my little girl left the gym happy and proud of a few skills she's been working on, a handful of valentine's day grams from friends, a Darth Vader sticker from coach Frank and a sad face all because her "me time" is over. As for me, I've finally made a few adult friends (SAHM problems) and am very happy that I finally found a sport my little girl actually loves! Did I mention they have coffee? From the well kept facility, the family-oriented vibes, to the coaches and professors...this place is absolutely amazing. The passion the coaches have for their craft shows. They truly take the time to get to know their students and tailor the program to each individual's skill level. As a USAF Veteran and a Wounded Warrior Project alumni, their active support for Mission 22 also resonates deeply for me. If for a minute you think this review is completely fabricated -- you're right. I struggled to find the right words to describe how awesome this place is without writing a novel and how humbling it is to have met such amazing owners/human beings (Frank and Lynda). My son initially went to Victorum just to try out a new way of staying fit. After a few "tries" he decided Jiu Jitsu was for him. We moved up from San Diego this year, and looked at every BJJ school in the Antelope Valley. Our former school, 4SBJJ, where my three kids, wife, and myself first started training two years ago, was one of the top schools in San Diego for training kids in a family friendly environment. Our philosophy is that martial arts is more than just developing physical skills. It is about developing character, integrity, perseverance, and self-control. What is also important to us are the family values of the coaches and staff, and maintaining a positive environment similar to what we strive to create in our own home. Of all the schools we visited, Victorum Athletics just felt like the right place with people who shared similar values. Having trained here for about nine months now, the school has proven to be a great match. We are happy with the quality of teaching, with emphasis on fundamentals and technique.
