I had trained at a few different mma gyms before finding Rounders, and it is by far the best!…read moreExtremely welcoming whether you're a beginner or advanced. Within my first week here I already felt like family. Great environment, The coaches are amazing (Specifically Joe, Steve, and Miguel) I'm glad to have found a gym that I can call home. Couldn't recommend it enough! Would give 6 stars if possible

Bottom Line Up Front: I give this gym 5 out of 5 stars --…read moreand that says a lot because I've been training in martial arts since 1995 and am a certified instructor in multiple systems. But let me break it down as to why it gets my seal of approval. What You'll Learn: Rounders offers multiple martial arts: Boxing, Muay Thai (kickboxing), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kali (a Filipino knife-fighting system), and Mixed Martial Arts (which combines striking, wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu). In the past they have also offered wrestling and Judo. So there's something for everyone. Regardless of what class you pick, you'll learn how to protect yourself while getting a great workout. What You'll Gain: Like I mentioned, you'll get a killer workout in a safe and fun environment. According to some studies, you could burn anywhere between 300 to 800 calories in a single 1-hour kickboxing class. It's far more efficient (and fun!) than running on a treadmill. And the added bonus is that you'll learn self-defense along the way. Who You'll Meet: From co-owner Joe Kim to all the other instructors, the coaches here are physically talented, knowledgeable, and easy-going despite being deadly warriors. They create a positive atmosphere so that everyone -- from brand new rookies to combat sports veterans -- has fun while learning. And that trickles down through to the students, who are all supportive and welcoming. The Space: The gym is medium-ish in size compared to other gyms in the area; enough to hold one large group or two smaller sessions at the same time. The equipment is top notch. And the workout space is well maintained. There's also a small section for weight training, too. The Cost: I've visited other gyms with outrageous prices (like $200 a month for only Jiu-Jitsu!). Fortunately, tuition here is reasonably priced -- with options to drop-in, go month-to-month, or commit to 6 months or a full year. (The latter two doesn't mean you have to pay upfront, just that you'll be charged automatically for your chosen time frame and save more over the long term.) And considering those options give you unlimited classes for all of the martial arts classes, Rounders is totally worth it. Conclusion: Rounders MMA Fullerton is an ideal gym to join, whether you're looking to lose weight, learn some self-defense, or just belong to a cool community who will encourage and grow with you.

The What: If you want to learn striking, they offer kickboxing. If you want to learn grappling, they have Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). And if you want to be well-rounded, they teach mixed martial arts (MMA). The Who: The reason why you can learn such a wide array of combat sports is because of the owner and head instructor, Professor Danny Saurez. He is a true martial artist, having trained in everything from Judo and wrestling to Wing Chun and Kali. But of course, he is a world-class expert in BJJ, MMA, and kickboxing. As a former professional MMA fighter and a 4th-degree black belt in BJJ, he knows what it takes to win, having a versatile skillset and a strong championship mindset. But that doesn't mean you have to be a fighter to appreciate his teaching. Prof. Danny is one of the few elite-level instructors who is also an expert teacher -- he's physically talented, has real-world experience, and can adapt to each student (whether complete newbie or black belt) so they learn quickly. And the best part? He's funny, easy-going, and encouraging. The Where: The new SoCal Combat Club location in Anaheim is located in an industrial park, which is great because you don't get the random riff-raff who walk in and disturb a class like you would find at a strip mall location. It might be small-ish, but everything is new, clean, and well organized. And there's plenty of parking during the evening classes. Plus, it's close to the 57 and 91 freeways, so getting there is a breeze regardless of where you're coming from. The Why: There are many reasons to train here. You might start because you want to lose weight and get fit -- you will burn hundreds of calories per sessions, regardless of the style you try out. You might train because you want to learn how to defend yourself and your family or compete in amateur BJJ or kickboxing tournaments. But no doubt you'll stay because of the people. Prof. Danny and the SoCal Combat Club are so welcoming, supportive that it'll feel like you're a part of a family.

He doesn't just show you one move and that's it for the day. He chains techniques so you don't just get to that position and not know what to do. Highly recommend Socal Combat Club.

I'd recommend the karate program 2-days a week. You can pick any 2 days and if you don't make it one day or schedule changes, you can always drop in another day. My youngest daughter is shy and doesn't play well with others. But she's thriving and blossoming. She's very disciplined, but likes to draw alone and build alone. She looks forward to karate and seeing her friends and listens very well and participates every class. It's great to see her thrive. My other children are social butterflies and listen well. So karate is helping them become more disciplined and confident. Each week the kids are tasked with various skills. These skills range from basic kicking and punching, but they also incorporate Krav Maga to help with "Stranger Danger". The 4 teachers are incredible and very patient. I wish they would discipline some of the more troubled kids who don't listen, but it's a fine line to walk when the kids parents don't discipline and let their children act a ruckus. But they manage to keep the class moving and participation very high for every child.

But she proved us wrong in the best way. She loves it. The discipline, the challenge, the confidence--it's been amazing to watch her grow. The staff plays a huge part in that. Big shoutout to Mr. Max, Mr. Nathan, and Miss Sabrina--we appreciate you all so much. There was a time when the class size grew quickly, and we were genuinely concerned that too many distractions would slow her progress. Some kids were a handful, and not every parent stepped up. But the team handled it with grace. They adapted fast, pulled together a strong group of leaders, and kept the class focused and motivated. We've seen real growth here, both in our daughter and the dojo itself. Grateful to have found this place. Highly recommend.
