It was getting late and needed a place to grub. We were across the street at the strip mall and noticed Tepeque still opened. Turned out that they had just opened about a year ago. Ventured out and found a nice bright place with friendly staff. We ordered a few items to go. I got a couple chicken soft tacos and albondigas soup. Both were good. The salsa was flaming hot though. I could feel the heat seething out from my ears after a couple bites. I normally like spicy food, but this was way hot for me! I could have put too much, but my son's shrimp burrito confirmed it was just a bit over the top hot! We also got an order of rolled tacos and plain nachos. Nothing fancy, but good 'ol snack food. All in all, friendly service, a bit slow, but overall good. Watch out for the salsa! Keep on Yelp'n!

    Water salsa for the chips

Wow...where do I start, This used to be "LA CITA" I noticed the new name "TEPEQUETE" for a couple of years, I believe the comes from their home town in Michoacan, I pass by it often and dind't dare to try it, untill today 08/06/23 sorry but i wish i had not...i find nothing good to write about this place,,, oooh yes there was, restroom was clean...to beging service is bad one young lady and a couple if kids serving. The chips and salsa are faken terrible salsa is faken water chips were some burned, waitres brought or food and never came back, price is stupid high almost 40.00 bucks for 1 burrito 14.00 1 carne asada plate 16.00 2 can sodas,,can sodas must be like 4.00 each fak that. The meat they used was dry, salty and oily I believe is CECINA taste bad tasted like old beef, I REALLY REGREAT STOPING but thats the only way you get to know how good or bad some of this places are....OH AND I DONT KNOW HOW YELP MARKED THIS PLACE $10 PRICING THE ONLY THING UNDER 10 BUCKS IS THE CAN SODAS...I will never go back and if you still want to try it, knock your self out.

I love coming here for the enchiladas. All the food is great. The flavors make me feel like I'm back home. I recommend the Michoacán enchiladas with secina(thin slide beef cooked like chicharrón)

The tequila options are great if you drink. It is a loud spot though so if you don't like that it's not for you. My favorite server/bartender is Alex and David. I haven't tried much of the other options and when I did I wasn't a fan of the other food and that's coming from a Latina. I do love their chips and salsa and they have great cocktail options. Not terribly inventive Mexican given what's out there in DTLA or even OC but kudos for attempts at menu expansion! I do think the guacamole is really good, the mezcal offerings are awesome, the decor is upscale and Happy Hour pricing is worthwhile. I find this restaurant very loud however. Because of that, I booked outside seating on OpenTable for Cinco de Mayo for drinks at 6:30 for 4 of us. We arrived at 6:25. We were notified that they were running behind, but still were not seated at 7... we were told there was no outdoor seatings coming up in the near future but they could honor our reservation shortly at an indoor table... but unfortunately it was club-decibel live music for the holiday so we went elsewhere. I do feel that managing holiday crowds and reservations is a reasonable expectation for a restaurant of this caliber/ price point. Recommend as a local option only but with a few caveats, not my top choice.

This place was packed and for our table of 6, we had to wait about 45 minutes. Pro tip (call ahead, you'll be happy you did). But we walked around the cute town and came back with a table waiting for us. To start, I had to try the iconic salad. My mom and her friends raved about how yummy the salad was and I have a sneaking suspicion why. That bad boy is packed to the brim with so much cheese. But yes it was totally yummy. My favorite part is they bring you a whole squirt bottle of vinaigrette dressing. Yes please! I totally understand the hype. The rest of our meal was ok. We got the fajitas which were seasoned great and the tortilla soup was nice. Drinks were totally great! I got the jalapeno margarita and white peach sangria (which had a little fizz - totally appreciated) Pleased with our visit to Espiau's! Hostess was sweet and helpful with a large party (12) Server was passive aggressive and just not the kindest gal. When our food came out, it just wasn't good. My chile relleno tasted almost burnt, the sauce it came with was basically just the salsa they serve with chips. Beans tasted SO off and like they are canned. I honestly didn't even try the rice it looked really dry. Tortilla soup was flavorless. I've given this place a chance many times and each time i leave more disappointed than the last. :/
