We had a fantastic dinner experience at Tennstopet! We had a reservation at 4:30pm and were seated at the best table in the beautiful dining room. The personnel were all very friendly and helpful throughout the evening, and also made good recommendations. We had a nice Kava for aperitif, and the shared the herring and strämming; for us Swedes now living in the US this was like heaven! So good. I also had the house snaps, which was equally great. For main course we had the Wallenbergare and today's special, Rapphöna. This was all Swedish meals at its best. We finished with the chocolate terrine with cloudberry liqueur. Highly recommended!

Love trying clearly-classic places like this; you can just feel it entering the establishment. I sat in the bar area for lunch (with no reservation, but they serve the full menu). You should note the coat check (much written about) which doesn't seem optional, is not complimentary though there is nothing indicating such. Perhaps this is customary in the area, but other restaurants I visited in Stockholm/Scandinavia had coat racks by the entry to hang your coat and/or coat checks that were free of charge; this one is a couple USD so hang onto your coat if you'd like. I had a beer and the smoked salmon dish that came with dill creamed potatoes. It was excellent!

As a shitty drunken traveler that prefers to spend frugally, this place is still worth a visit. My partner and I say at the bar and split the meatballs (comes with puréed potato, lingonberries and vinegar cucumbers) and each got a .6L beer. It came with a complimentary bread spread of rye crisps and wheat loaf slices with good butter. Our tab was 320 for full tummies and a light buzz (supplemented by tall cans of Carlsburg in the park beforehand). Good vibes, wonderful meal, a really beautiful environment without being pretentious and they didn't try to rush us out after we finished. There's also a dart board in the back. Absolutely a fucking delightful place. Go there and split something and hang out on the cheap.

Tasty traditional food in a very traditional pub vibe. Little pricey, good service. The portions were large.

The ambiance, food and service is great! Prices are a little too high though, particularly the starters.

It's a small place, with tight seating but it actually isn't that loud considering, which is nice. You order your own food at the register and they bring it out when it's ready. The didn't have many beers but they were all nice and a good price. About the same or less as a stor-stark at many other places in the "downtown" area. The mixed drink of the day was really nice -- both a great color and taste! I had the steak frites and it was very good and very reasonably priced. The portion isn't very big but the quality is. All the dishes seemed nicely garnished as well. I felt like trying the dessert and I wasn't blown away but again the presentation was really nice. I went against my inner voice when I chose so that has something to do with it. Met some locals who were very friendly (and it's always nice when a place has the sort of environment that inspires random conversation with your dining neighbors) and they said they come about once a week, so I don't think I am alone when I say it is the type of place you want to come back to. Check it out! *I almost forgot, this place is a highlight on the Dyson Airblade World Tour. It has the only model of its kind I have ever seen and while it's not as intelligently designed as the standard model it is worth checking out! Beware the storm!

Friday night, and my last night Stockholm. I wanted to end my Swedish venture with an epic Swedish…read moremeal without bankrupting myself into a homeless person in Sweden. Friday 7:30pm: I made a reservation an hour earlier, I didn't really need to, but better safe than sorry. Storstad's lively front bar area was blasting some Euro Electronic dance music, and the beautiful but chatty crowd was further adding more decibels to the already loud volume. Fortunately, the rear finer dining area is significantly quieter, and even romantic, despite the bass bumping in the background. From the phone reservation to the end of the meal, the staff was friendly throughout, and spoke English better than your average college-less American. 105SEK($11.67) Soup of the Day: Goulash. Best gawd damn Goulash I've ever had in my life. Best in Europe. I should've gone for the larger bowl for 175SEK. Goulash is typically blue collar filler food for the masses, but the additional Swedish spices elevated this average dish to something fresh, innovative, and effing delicious. 275SEK(30.55) Artic Char...I never find this fish in America, so I get when I can. Initially this seemed expensive. But in America, you only get one 4-6oz fish fillet...in Sweden you get 3 4-6oz fillets...YES!!! Cooked perfectly with a nice crispy outside, yet still so marvelously moist on the inside. The accompanying "champagne" sauce danced in sync with the natural delicious flavors of the fish. (Note: the wife ordered the 145SEK "vegetarian" variety plate, it was okay). 475SEK($52) French red wine...I can't remember the name of the wine, but it was the cheapest red bottle available...it was good, and a better value than ordering 4 glasses of wine. Again, this was our last night in Sweden, celebrate! While this all seems expensive to the American perspective, note that the prices includes taxes, and Swedes only expect a 5-10% tip for full service restaurants. Swedish workers are typically paid a living wage. So this is really not much different than dining out in America. I'm 90% sure we were the only tourists in here, everyone else was speaking Swedish. How do I live here?

We were seated without reservations and had a great waiter and a great meal! The unique menu offered lots of different types of food and we got pretty adventurous. We all wanted to try the reindeer heart. Although, as Americans we could not stop making jokes about Rudolf. In the end, it tasted like turkey bacon. Who knew?! Also, the mushroom toast was delicious. For entrees, we ordered the meatballs, a fish dish and lamb. They were all wonderful. Lots of locals here and the meal was worth the long walk from the tunnelbana.

We had just arrived that afternoon and were walking around our hotel to look for an early dinner. The dining room is lovely but not too stuffy or formal. We ordered the brown bread for starters, along with some wine and beer. I ordered the Arctic char (parsnip, chili, hazelnuts, browned butter and a soy glaze) and Paul G. went with the meatballs (hand-rolled and with cream sauce, mashed potatoes, lingonberries and pickled cucumber). We had the traditional Swedish meatball dish a few more times during the trip and they all came with the same components, but Bistro Bestick's was my fave. The sauce was heavier, velvety and creamy, and the potatoes were oh so fluffy. The berries were tart and fresh. I loved my fish, too... the hazelnuts, brown butter and soy were such a bright, unexpected combination. I enjoyed every bite. Don't sleep on dessert here! I couldn't even finish my dinner but still wanted to try the chocolate rum cake (salty caramel sauce, roasted peanuts, vanilla ice cream and crispy sesame) and what a delightful flavor explosion! It was beautifully presented and the sesame "cracker" on top was the perfect contrast to all the sweetness. I'd highly recommend BB!
