Swedish meatballs
Patricia S.

Very cute ambiance! We had a late lunch here and tried the Swedish meatballs. The sauce was super yummy and the potatoes were so so smooth! The only downside was the food didnt come out hot, it was lukewarm. Service was good but as an American you have to kind of get up out of your seat to ask for the check since in Europe they are much slower

The awesome, fun staff made our visit here memorable and the food was excellent. We didn't have reservations and since this was a newer restaurant than the other Bistro Bestick which had no openings, we were able to get in at a table by the bar. It actually turned out to be a prime table with a view of the bar, quiet, and being able to interact with the staff. Each person came by checked to see if they could clear away a dish or order us something. The running joke was "too slow" meaning someone already got our order and the next person who stopped by was "too slow." The bread plate (extra charge) was nice to sample some brown breads with creamy butter. I was delighted to try authentic handmade Swedish meatballs ("better than Ikea" I was told) with mashed potatoes, lingonberries and pickled cucumbers. The meatballs were moist, flavorful and the sauce was good. The Arctic char fish was fresh, delicious with lots of zucchini and fresh dill. The cloudberry dessert with ice cream was a work of art. The food and the staff at Bistro Bestick made this one of our favorite Stockholm memories, so thank you!

Wonderful lunch and service on our way to the Ice Bar Best meatballs so far and a very nice shrimp salad to check my daily shrimp box!!!

The server did a great job and she gave us a place outdoor. But we were ok since we walked in. Honestly we were quite disappointed that the home made meatball was salty. The fish loin was ok without the sauce ( I found that it's salty if we ate that with the dressing)

My mom and I ate here after finding it on Google Maps. Like many of the reviewers, it was one of the only highly rated restaurants in the area. We had high hopes, having not been done wrong by Google recommendations in the past. While this place wasn't terrible nor did it make us sick (a big win IMO), the vibes were weird and the flavors didn't mesh. The servers were lovely but I was surprised to find that the whole staff appeared to be from Southeast Asia when this is a Nordic restaurant in Sweden. After doing research later, found out the chef/owner used to work at the restaurant in the City Hall and catered the Nobel dinners. You figure he would make better food. If you do some more Googling, you'll find the previous version of this restaurant had less than ideal reviews - suspicious. We got 2 appetizers and each got an entree. The appetizers were unique but way too unique, with the flavors/textures being weird combinations. They also used dill topping on everything (as you can see). I get that dill is huge in Scandinavia, but this was overkill. My mom said her char was too salty, and my meatballs - while tasty - felt like they were undercooked and mushy. It also felt like we were being rushed and the dishes were rushed like it wasn't made to order. The only redeeming factor is the central location near the train station/our hotel. We urge you to take your business & taste buds elsewhere!

Everything impeccable - food, service, ambience! First went on a Saturday around 8pm and it was packed so the hostess asked if we wanted to wait 30 minutes but there's no place to wait in the restaurant so she recommended another day and to make a reservation. So we made a reservation and it was great! My party of 3 all loved their entree: Swedish meatballs (best in the city!); Arctic char; & cod. So skillfully prepared that it was as delicious as pleasing to the eye. All fish cooked just right and none of the entrees were overly salty. All entrees had a great variety of proteins & veggies and were just the right amount to fill us so we were disappointed we couldn't get the crème brûlée but we'll get it next time!

Best meal you will have! Got the 5 course meal and every single one of them was amazing! This is easily the best meal I've had since being in Europe. There isn't many restaurants where I'm from that offer course meals but I really wish they did after this dining experience. You won't be disappointed. It started with raw scallops then lamb tartare, arctic char, venison and finished with a chocolate dessert. Also tried the meatballs that a friend ordered and they were also really good

While I would recommend this bistro for the food, I definitely can't say the same about the service. I think that, because we sat outside (which DID have lovely ambiance with twinkle lights & plants everywhere), we were legitimately forgotten about by the servers. We waited for nearly thirty minutes to put in an order (including even drinks!) and then had to wait over an hour for our food to come out. We also had to ask our waitress three times to bring the check, and eventually just went inside to get it ourselves. The saving grace of this meal was that the food was delicious (the sauce with pickled veggies on my rooster was so good I wanted a spoon to eat it & Ben's lamb was cooked perfectly). The wine list was also decent with a pretty big "by the glass" section. Unfortunately, I would not go back due to the (lack of) service. Food: A Drinks: B+ Service: D Ambiance: B-

This place was recommended by our hotel front desk as a go to local restaurant and it sure didn't disappoint! The place is hidden away from the main streets however it was packed but we managed to get a table for 2 and to have a quick dinner! As we walked to this place I already was doing my Yelp research and came in ready to order! So when in Sweden you have to try the Swedish Meatballs which is a no brainer. The food came out very quick, look very fresh and appetizing. The hand rolled meatballs came with potato purée, lingonberries, sliced pickled cucumbers and cream sauce. My only complaint here is that the food was a bit salty for me but tasted great overall. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful!

My partner and I had less than 24 hours to explore Stockholm and after much research, Bistro Bestick made it to the top of the list for dinner. We had just finished traveling in Italy and had a layover in Stockholm so we wanted to take advantage of all of its glory. We were super delighted and impressed with the meal that we had at BB. We had scallops, rye bread, meatballs, and a steak dish during our time there. We both loved everything that we had and even ordered a second plate of the rye bread! All of the flavors and textures were so new to us. Our palette was very excited to taste all of the diverse dishes that blended lovely together. Would I go back? Totally! I had never had Swedish food before and definitely want to keep exploring this amazing cuisine.

We got seated at the small bar right away, and ordered the bread, meatballs, flank steak, and chocolate truffle dessert. The food was amazing! The only reason I took away a star is because of the long wait time between finishing our meal and being able to pay. We had run out of water but the waitress nor any other staff who frequently walked by the bar into the kitchen didn't notice that or the fact we were done.

We came in early, so there weren't too many other diners. Service was friendly, but seemed short staffed. There were three people working front of house for indoor/outdoor dining and one of them seemed to be in training. At one point, I heard the service bell from the kitchen informing the wait staff an order was up. There was no one available to retrieve it though. After a while, I saw the chef/cook come out to hand the food to the waitress. Our appetizers and entrees came out within a reasonable time, but it took forever for the dessert to come out. At this time, the restaurant was quite busy. I think the waitress forgotten and I had to ask her about it when I was able to catch her eye. It also took a while to get our check and pay. Onto the food... We were given cute little loaves of rye bread with soft butter. As an appetizer, we went with tuna tartare. It was refreshing with the watermelon and cucumber. As an entree, I ordered the "raw beef on beef thigh"- basically beef tartare. It came in a separate bowl from the rest of my entree. The rest of it consisted of tomatoes two ways. The first being two slices of tomatoes and the second being a tomato stuffed with avocado. I didn't feel as if it was a cohesive dish. The elderberry sorbet for dessert was the highlight of my meal. It also came with sponge cake, strawberry panna cotta, fresh berries, and candied olives. Overall, I had an enjoyable dinner.

On a day trip from Norway to Sweden we had 8 hours to do the most and we were going to make the best of our time. This is an example where the Yelp reviews come in handy especially around the world. Sidebar we (Yelp) need to do a better job by adding more countries as this may prove helpful to those who are traveling. It is essential to have good information when you are spending money. The express train from the airport to Stockholm leaves you within two blocks walking distance and in the direction of all the necessary tourist stops. We made sure to book a reservation the day before for lunch. The restaurant offers daily lunch menus that are affordable with an ample portion. In addition to each of our lunch entrées we ordered the Swedish meatballs they were divine. Each meal was beautifully plated, flavorful and the only restaurant during this trip that served hot food. I don't know if it's a thing but generally in Europe we receive warm food not hot. We received a really good salad and bread that was unexpected to start the meal. Beside the food being really good it is clear that the owners and Chef are proud of their work. We had really good customer service from what appeared to have been the owner or manager. He wanted to ensure we were satisfied with our meal his face beaming with pride. My dining partner had the seared/fried salmon which she was extremely pleased with as it was cooked to perfection in her words. I enjoyed my prime rib meal it was slightly salty but I'm sure not for most people. I really do not like the taste of salt. The decor was modern but modest, very nicely laid out giving a sense of comfort. If you see this review although I may not return as a visit to Sweden is highly unlikely but I suggest you make your reservation now!

A once-in-a-lifetime experience and meal for anyone lucky enough to snag a reservation…read more Reservations open at 10 am on the first of the month for the following month and will go quickly, within a couple of minutes, so for a restaurant 15 years in, is still a hot spot to be. I planned my whole Stockholm trip around coming here, and was lucky enough to snag a solo reservation for dinner the last night of my trip in May 2025. Truly nothing comes close to the overall service & hospitality experience and quality of the food and drinks. I have dietary restrictions (no red meat), that they could accommodate with no problem and even provide a printed menu that represented my exact substitutions, which rarely happens for me. The night I came, Björn Frabtzén received a third Michelin star at Frantzén's sister restaurant in Dubai, becoming the only chef in the world to helm three 3-Michelin star restaurants simultaneously, and my experience here really shows why they are the best of the best. You enter from a lobby and are greeted by a host who will guide you through the experience. I had the opportunity to use the restroom and then got a peak into some of the meats I'd be enjoying for my meal in the entryway itself. You then go up an elevator to the Lounge, where you get your first look at the drink menu and your first bites. Frantzén was one of the first restaurants to really champion this experience of moving from room to room for different courses and it sets an ambiance almost of eating at someone's home. It's casual but decadent and the chefs walk you through all of the ingredients you're about to enjoy while casually chit chatting and enjoying the best canapés of your life. After the starters, you're taken through the prep kitchen and the wine cellar to the actual restaurant, which is a large open kitchen where you get to watch the chefs work while enjoying your meal. I was celebrating my birthday, and despite getting the NA pairing (which was excellent minus one drink towards the end) had so many additional generous free pours of incredible wines and champagne throughout the night. Well worth it, as their sommelier won best sommelier at the Scandinavia Michelin ceremony one month later in June 2025, and some of the glasses they gave me for free were easily $100 a piece. Come hungry, because you'll leave stuffed beyond belief for a 5-6 hour meal (and can always hang out longer if the restaurant hasn't closed up for the night.) This menu is legendary and best to go in without too many spoilers, but I had the best dish of my life - the tear drop peas chanwamushi - sweet, so tender, unreal. Another guest told me they wait all year for pea season to get this version of the dish. After dinner, you move back into the lounge where you're treated to after dinner drinks, teas, light sweets (that they will box up for you if you're too full) and the famous cardamom, brown butter, and Madeira madeleines. These mini-versions of madeleines come in a set of 9, are made fresh to order, and are refilled for however long you want to sit and enjoy the ambiance and chat at the end of the night. I felt like over the course of this part in particular, I made friends with other diners and the staff and had one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences of my life. Frantzén is one of the best in the world (and if Reddit is to be believed, the very best) for a reason.

It was good, probably closer to a 4.5. The location is beautiful. Even their bathrooms are nice…read more However, perhaps it's because I ate at Zen already, but I felt it wasn't as special. I was celebrating my birthday there and there was no recognition of that except on the bill, which we found odd. Service otherwise was great. Lots of attention to detail. They served their famous French toast dish, but I preferred the truffle version instead.
