The greens on this day were in excellent shape and I was lucky to drain a few over 20ft. Most of the greens were easy to read and little slope to them. They have a large banquette room and bar. Whittle Springs was Knoxville's first public golf course and has hosted the annual Amateur Golf Championship since the 1930's. Whittle Springs is a great little gem and is a bargain at $20 for 18 holes (walking) any time of the day. Whittle Springs has a club house with a snack bar and pro shop. Great little practice putting green and chipping area adjacent the club house. Whittle Springs offers soft tee boxes and well kept Bermuda grass fairways. The greens are fast, flat and large; a challenging end to each hole. The front 9 holes are comprised primarily of par 3s and 4s. The par 4s are long and straight and allow the player to work on the long game. The occasional par 3s are short and compressed between the neighboring holes. The back 9 holes are longer and have a handful of part 5s. The first two holes on the back 9 holes are long narrow par 5s that run along a fence line. Overall Whittle Springs is a good course, straight forward and a stress free round.

The final hole on the front 9 has a steep green with a small pond at the base, which presents an interesting end to your first round. The assistant manager was not there at the time, and no one knew the status of the repair. I was told again they'd call me... No call. When I returned the next morning, they still didn't know the status of the bike. The actual bike repair guy was there, so thankfully he was able to finish fixing the bike. Again the assistant store manager had dropped the ball because no one knew the status of the repair. I will not return for a bike repair knowing what I know now. The assistant store manager is irresponsible and needs held accountable. Period.
