They serve both Thai and and Japanese food, both are good but if you are looking for authentic Thai and sushi this is not the place. That is not saying the food is bad, the food is good but they cater to the American palate. So I rolled up in there the last time I was in Chesapeake. I got a 3 sushi roll deal for $9.50. That included a fountain drink. I got a spicy tuna roll, a yummi roll and a California roll. The yummi roll had shrimp tempura in it. Even if I didn't get the lunch special, the prices for food here is more than reasonable. Some of the best prices I've seen for Thai/sushi in the area. Hibachi steak entree was very good. The steak, rice, and vegetables were a super healthy and high protein post work out meal. Tokyo Bowl & Yummy Chicken bowl was good as well and overall the chicken was crispy and seasoned well--not too saucy. Pad Thai noodles were average and needed a little kick, so maybe we will order it spicy next time. We picked up our meal and it was cooked quickly and remained hot until we go home. This is really more like 2.5 stars. I'll start with the good. Portion sizes are really good. Gyoza and Crab Rangoon spot on. Now the meh part. I guess you get what you pay for. The hibachi steak and teryocki steak had no really flavor. You'd expect that the teriyocki would be at least but the flavor just kind of faded away. The mixed veggies were missing seasoning also and the rice... no salt there. So I got Amazing Chicken $6.25 lunch special which is a solid portion and includes a drink. It is aptly named. The vegetables, chicken & rice with yum yum sauce were all fantastic. I've literally had $25+ hibachi out twice in the past month and this is as good. We also got crab rangoons which seemed lighter than normal (cream cheese was creamier & shell wasn't as hardy), but they were quite tasty. This is like a take out Chinese vibe... it's got no atmosphere and the sushi is not good (we got the New York roll)... their other stuff is that good. And that $6.25 value is great. read more

We got take out from Tenko last night and were pleasantly surprised! We weren't expecting a lot at the price, but we went in with an open mind. We got 2 sushi rolls, 2 hibachi dinners, and a kids dinner all for $30, which we were really happy with, but the best part is it was actually really good! I wouldn't say it is the best hibachi I've ever had, and the rice is a tad bit bland, but with the yum yum sauce it's pretty tasty. I was surprised with the sushi because for $4 a roll I didn't expect fantastic quality, and it certainly wasn't out of this world, but it was pretty good. I went to this place after church with a friend and we both got the 3 sushi roll lunch specials(which include a drink(free refills too!) and they are only $10) and we ordered the crab Rangoon which is 8 whole pieces for only $3.25 and a huge salad with ginger dressing for $2.95. I'm a big fan of this restaurant and the owners. However their daughter is rude and short to customers. The past 3 times I've called I've gotten nothing but attitude from her in the tone of her voice and barely a response when I ask a question. Yesterday, I experienced the same thing again, but this time she tried to cut me off before I finished my order and I had to tell her that I wasn't done. She continued to be rude with a deep breath as if I was bothering her. Then when I get to the store to pick up my order it was wrong. Out of respect for her parents I'm writing this review to let them know their daughter isn't helping their business by being rude to their customers. If it happens again, I will take my business next door to one of the other restaurants that appreciate customers and the money we spend on their products. I am addicted to sushi, so when I got a flyer that advertised sushi take out, I knew I had to try it. I placed an order online, drove out to the restaurant and picked it up, and then my little fish-loving taste buds were in heaven! Not only is their sushi really good, but their hibachi items are amazing! I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because the online ordering process is a little weird. They apparently have 3 locations, 2 of which are out of state. Their online transactions are handled by a third party, and when I went to pick up my food, I had to give them my credit card again, which made me nervous of being charged twice. It all worked out, it was just odd. Also, make sure to ask for soy sauce, napkins, utensils, chopsticks, etc- they do not put any of that in the bag. Now the food: I have tried every single sushi roll and I LOVED all of them. I cannot even begin to pick a favorite. For take out sushi, and for the price, it is extremely good. Much much better than the stuff you get from the grocery stores (even Harris Teeter or Fresh Market) On a whim, I ordered a side order of shrimp and a side order of steak with my first order, and they are now staple items every time I go to Tenko. You get small bowls filled with hibachi steak or shrimp, mushrooms, and broccoli, and it is SOOO good! My son loves the Yaki Soba, and my boyfriend enjoys the Hibachi Vegetables. I have also tried the Miso Soup and it is quite good, too. Price-wise, Tenko is quite reasonable. The sushi rolls range from $3.45 to $4.25 and the most expensive hibachi item is only $10.25.
