They have two courses here, glen is the old one and highland is the nicer one. This is a public course so there will be uneducated people who don't know golf etiquettes. I almost got hit with golf balls here so many times because some people don't know how to yell FORE so you can duck and they don't have patience to wait. Last week, a ball nearly missed my shoulder because the two women behind me couldn't wait. I had to wait for the group in front of me to finish so I can hit. They didn't wait for me to finish before they swing. Prices are reasonable. You pay extra for a cart here. read more

Nice course for it being inexpensive and public! The old guy who runs the tee times is extremely rude though. I was yelled at twice in the span of 5 minutes, probably because I'm a girl even though I've golfed my entire life at country clubs and know what I'm doing. The first being that I should be at my tee for my tee time when I still had 7 minutes and was on my way there. The second being because we were waiting on someone to pay in our group so we offered the people behind us to play ahead of us. The beer cart lady was so nice and sweet though! read more

If you look at the pics the course is bone dry. After 9 I came across a maintenance guy. I asked why is it cart path only. He said because the course is still wet. After I said it is so dry the ground is still cracked he said it was the club house call. Don't play here any time soon. read more

We started forgoing the cart charge to instead walk the course, which is only a green fee of $12. In 2.5 hours an average golfer can get in about 13 holes. It's a lot of walking (approx 8,000 steps or 3.5 miles for 13 holes) but I love it. They also allow you to walk your dog while you're golfing, just be sure to pick up after them, keep them quiet, and bring water to keep them hydrated! We also go to the range quite a bit. The bf is trying to teach me... it's been challenging but fun. I've never golfed before so this has been a great experience learning. The other golfers on the course or at the range have also been nothing but positive and polite. I like this community of people a lot. read more

What an amazing day at this fine public golf course. The staff were so accommodating and the course was in amazing shape. Nice challenging golf course but not so frustrating that a high handicapper can't have fun. The highlands course has several high elevated tee boxes along with some cool climbing holes. Grant was the Marshall today and he worked hard to make us all feel at ease and safe. Carry was on the beverage cart and was super attentive. Saw her 4 or 5 times in 18 holes. So cool. read more

DISCLAIMER: I'M A HUGE FAN OF TENISON HIGHLANDS That being said, yesterday my son and I played for Father's Day. It had rained hard that morning, but got better so we went to catch some "cheaper twilight golf." Teed off at 6 PM and paid $44/player. Not cheap, especially for twilight hours! The course was in horrible condition. Waste debris everywhere! The "sand traps" had ZERO SAND and were nothing but mud. So, we look for a ball washer, none. It was hot as hell, water fountains or coolers? Nowhere to be found. Sure, the cart girl drove around, but we didn't feel like paying $3 for water. As I said, we've been playing here for over a decade. But to charge that amount with a course in that condition was sinful. You guys need to adjust your pricing to be more reflective of what you deliver, or, fix the course! read more

Tenison Park Golf Course - This was one of the best traps! - Golf Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Played out here on Tuesday morning and could not be more disappointed. Arrived early for a quick breakfast sandwich only to find microwaveable Jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches in a heating cabinet. I opted for a hotdog. Lady behind the bar was super sweet and helpful. Arrived to the starter at 10:18a (our tee time 10:20a) only to hear him bragging, to who I would assume the 1030a group, about sending everybody out early. Once he sent that group to the tee in front of us, he gladly sent a twosome behind them, pushing us back 20 minutes in total. When I mentioned we were the 10:20 group, he said that group will play fast and asked if we were in a rush. When I asked why he sent a group out in front of us, he said he could go down to the tee and delay them teeing off. We weren't in a rush and didn't feel like we wanted an angry group of golfers playing behind us after we complained about the starter screwing everything else. So we quietly took the 10:40a tee time as the starter made it seem like it was our fault for him sending out two groups in front of us. As for the course. Bunkers and greens in good shape. Could not believe the tee boxes being in such terrible condition. All of them were covered in sand. #8 tee is pretty much unplayable. Felt like we were teeing it up in a bunker. #1 tee markers were placed just at the bottom of a mound in the tee box forcing you to get club head in the air on your backswing quickly. We teed off a yard in front of the markers. Placement of #2 tee makers were on the far left of a massive tee box. With the trees overhanging all the way down the left side of this par 3 and a middle pin, you had to hit a draw into the green. I'll post a picture of it, but not sure you'll be able to see just how dumb this was. You couldn't even take dead aim at the flag because the trees were in play. We decided to tee off on the right side of the tee box. Glad to see a bunch of tree trimming going on, but all crews were working on trees behind tee boxes. Should probably focus some effort on #2 or tell whoever put the tees on that side of the box to not do it anymore. Loved this course layout and so close to my house in Dallas county. But with soooo many good golf courses in the area, I doubt I'll waste my time with Tenison again. What was one of my favorite muni's in Dallas, i now consider one of the worst in DFW. Hope they figure out how to get this course back or maybe just employ people that know what the heck they are doing. read more

The place was flooded which they can't help but still charged me full price and put my 2 in a group with others. I played the Glen which I hear is the less nice of their 2 courses, but it was atrocious. Ground was like concrete anywhere there wasn't mud. The carts have gps and were the best part of the round. The 9th hole does not loop back to the clubhouse, they do have a cart girl with beverages/snacks but took us 13 holes to reach her. Would go back to try the other course, probably won't play the Glen again. Only reason it gets 3 stars and not 2 is the service was nice, and it's pretty cheap. read more

Playing on this course is actually not that bad considering the price. And the driving range is fine just don't go at sundown because the sun will be in your eyes. However, the staff at the driving range are absolute a-holes. I called this morning asking if their driving range was open (since we just had a winter storm) and the guy on the phone told me yes. So I drove over and got there around 7:30 AM. I walked into the driving range and saw there was a grounds crew on the grass and that the ball dispenser was covered. I'm just standing there and then an old guy comes out from behind me and yells at me that they're closed. I said "Oh I called earlier and the guy said it was open" and he berated me more and said "well we're not open until they're done and I open the shop!". I thought then why are the gates open and your times say you're open at 6:30 AM? I probably would have stuck around and waited for the grounds crew to finish but he was such a dick and didn't feel like dealing with him so I just left. read more

Nothing about the customer service here is consistent. It's always dependent on who is working that day and what kind of mood they are in. I've encountered numerous people at the course that have explained they have also shared horrible experiences more than a handful of times. Additionally, the cart boys steal range finders they find at the end of the day and sell them on Facebook marketplace (yes, this is true and I have proof). The worst part about the place is that both of the courses are sub-par at the very best. Need a complete restructure of whoever is running the place. read more

I'm getting tired of this course (the Glen course). The pace of play is atrocious and the fact that I can't book a tee time as a single is ridiculous. I have to walk on and usually they tell me I can't get on unless I tee off right away, so I don't get to warm up. Then I have to wait 5 minutes at every tee box. The conditions were OK for the price in the summer, but in the winter the place looks and plays awful. There is literal garbage all over the place, the ground is rock hard and the tee boxes are borderline unplayable. The last straw today was pitching onto a green, nearly holing it, and then watching my ball roll off the green because the pin was placed on a false front, then putting it on and watching it roll off again back toward me. Probably won't be back for a while. read more

It was surprisingly in great condition! Especially considering it rained the day before. There were only 1 or 2 greens and fairways that could use a little extra work. Overall good course and very open with minimal hazards. We played Tenison Glen as I was unaware Tenison Highlands was the better course. read more

Played the highlands today. Have not played here before. Was a great track with lots of character. Greens were better than most in the area and should be perfect in a week or 2. I look forward to playing this course again. Lots of sand traps. Short game is a must but forgiving off the tee. You will most likely use every club in your bag. read more

The golf course is fine. I played golf this past Thursday, parked in their lot at 12:30 and my 2017 Sierra Denali truck was stolen out of the lot at 1:30. This has happened a lot over the past year yet no cameras or security until 5pm to closing. Onstar went off at 1:30 and they sent an email. No text, no phone call, against their policy to call police or disable vehicle. They basically watched while my truck was stolen. Something needs to be changed with both Tennison and Onstar. Be careful if you play there. Don't leave anything of value in your vehicle. read more

If the place wasn't close to me I'd never go. The chipping green redesign they did a few years back was awful. Limited and ridiculous pin placement, and contours that are so difficult they discourage practice. And heaven help you if the practice sand area is in use - you're likely going to get beaned by a stray shot. The driving range is fine, but the ball machines don't work half the time. And the guy running the counter today needs serious work on his customer service skills. Too long a story to relate here. Bob Smith manages this facility, so somebody needs to give him a do-better talk. He's gotten careless. read more

Nice little track. There are two courses here (Tenison Highlands and Tenison Glen) with the Highlands being the nicer of the two. The rates for the Highlands can get into the $20's (walking; weekday) to a $60 rate (cart; weekend). For a nice weekend, it is good to call ahead earlier in the week for a tee time. The course is not too long and plays 7,000 yards from the back tees and around 6,200 to 6,500 yards from the gold or blue tees. Many of the par 4s or par 5s (especially on the back 9) play from a very elevated tee box, so the yardage is probably a few 100 yards less. This is just a good, all-around municipal course. It is not too fancy; it is not too challenging. But it can be a slow round (5+ hours) on a busy weekend which can be annoying. The clubhouse (and cart girl) sell beer and food. They make a pretty good egg & cheese sandwich too. read more

The staff here is terrible. When I checked in and payed the guy at the front desk said to me "you know if you **** the cart up you will have to pay for it right?" I should have taken this as a sign and left. The glens course is terrible. I had to call the pro shop four times because the maintenance tech kept driving in front of me and turning sprinklers on the greens I was attempting to hit on to. He would then blankly stare at me, go to the next hole when I finally skipped, and repeat. I'm sure this sounds unbelievable but it's true. I have given this place 2 chances because I live right next door and it has been nothing but problems. Do yourself a favor and go play Stevens Park or one of the other courses in Dallas. Especially if you want to be treated as a paying customer. read more

I recently played a round at Tenison Park. It was July 4th, and about 95 degrees. They only had one cart girl for two 18 hole golf courses. She did not get to us until hole 12. When we asked her she was the only cart girl, she said, they didn't think it would be busy. Again this is July 4th, one of the biggest golfing days of the year. They stacked start times on top of each other. At one point there were four groups on one hole, just waiting. Overall it was a terrible round of golf and I would caution anyone to play there. Although it's priced pretty good, not worth the savings. read more

We visited from NYC and played last Saturday. It had rained pretty heavily and was cart path only. The course was in good shapes with greens rolling true albeit everything was a bit muddy. For the price, highlands was a good course. Each hole is its own unique design. The biggest point to emphasize in this review is to say that everyone at the course was incredibly friendly. Several reviewers remarked on people being unfriendly but everyone in the pro shop and rangers were very nice to us. Specifically, they did not charge us to rent a second set of clubs rather letting us rent a second bag free of charge since we had two sets of different clubs in one bag. Pace of play on a mid day Saturday afternoon round was about 4.5 hours. Only reason Course did not get 5 star review is for relative course shape given 60 price. I would definitely go back and play this course again. read more

Played Sunday late morning, it was unbelievably hot, with no breeze. Cart girl made her rounds very frequently which was nice. It's a pretty nice course but I thought it was a little overpriced. Ruined our bachelor party. We had called ahead of time to play in a 5some and they okayed it. We were playing scramble and stuck behind a 4some when the course Marshall pulled up and while we were waiting to tee off told us we're holding up the course and that we can't play in a 5some. THIS IS WHILE WE ARE WAITING ON THE GROUP IN FRONT OF US. We had bought two tee times and the pro shop had okayed it, only to change their mind once on the course. Pace of play is important but if we aren't holding up the course then what's the problem? read more

Disappointed to say my experience here wasn't very positive. Staff was passive aggressive and rude. You CANT bring a cooler here and if you are unaware of this rule just be warned that they will confiscate your cooler and anything that is inside of it to do whatever they do with it after they take it. The course is nice and clean with no debris or sticks anywhere because they're all up the staff's ass. Even before we started the staff in the club house was just rude from the beginning. I enjoy playing here. If you walk, you can play for only $12 on The Glen. The putting and chipping practice area is big and plenty of room for a lot of players to practice at the same time. In the weekday evenings there are always golf lessons going on in the practice areas, so you can listen in and pick up quick tips from the Pro's as they teach classes. read more

I know Tenison Golf Course is listed but "The Range" is different from the course even though it's across the street and they are both public, operated by the city, open 7 days a week, 364 days a year. I first sought out golf lessons because I was asked to play on a golf team at work. I had to tell the CEO if it wasn't at Putt-Putt, I wasn't their gal. So, I started researching places to take lessons to help my career! I signed up for a women's get-golf-ready program and am glad I chose to take lessons at The Range at Tenison. Scott was my instructor. He was patient and his instructions were easy to understand. The program can have up to 6 women but my class only had 3 (and one person never showed up) so my new "team mate" and I were super lucky! They had an offer in the program I signed up for where I got starter clubs and lessons for what I thought was a reasonable price ($325) - 7 clubs, a bag and 4 lessons. Then I signed up for another course to continue and it was only $150 for 4 lessons. Now I can pretend to look like a golf pro at Top Golf and might one day be asked to play on a work team again! :) - LOL, seriously, this class was one of the best classes I've ever taken for myself. Regarding The Range: Pros: - Price is competitive on the golf balls (30 balls for $4, 60 balls for $7, 90 balls for $9) with tokens - They also sell debit cards with a discount. - The staff is friendly and helpful - The range is nice and it has 42 bays - They have great hitting mats I've ever hit off of (they do not have real grass, you might also see this as a con) Cons: - The bathrooms are across the street in the Club House - Hitting mats only, no grass to hit off (I don't mind but this might be a con for some) read more

Don't play The Glens. I just finished playing the course, and it was in the poorest condition of any course I've ever played in 40 years. The greens are actually areas of dirt, with some clumps of grass spread unevenly throughout. The fairways are only slightly better. When I complained after my round that they should have told us the conditioned, they just made excuses. With the abundance of courses that WANT you to play there, and the dwindling number if golfers, Id say the city needs to step up efforts, or risk losing players to cheaper, better courses. read more
