recently visited and do not agree with the other ratings, however there are some truths to the info others provided. first off it is very unique, swimming in and old quarry is possible on the east coast but not around here, very cool. Yes it costs $6 per person, i dont think they are ripping anyone off. Tenino is a tiny town and im guessing the city budget is pretty slim, to have liability insurance/upkeep/certified lifeguards costs money i am happy to pay, a larger city may open this for free but not at this time. It is spring water and is cold, feels great on a hot day, accept that it is not a heated pool with chlorine and everything else. The "algae" that others noted is actually duckweed, which is generally considered a benefical plant(not algae ) it absorbs nitrogen and other contaminants but grows so fast it would be difficult to eradicate without the use of a lot of chemical additives, it will not hurt a human. the lifeguards are actually pretty laid back and allow more play than most i have encountered at other pools, i did not encounter any attitude or rudeness. Swimming test, if you cant swim dont go here. Just about every staffed swim spot i have been to free or not, requires some type of swim test. this place could be somewhat dangerous for very weak swimmers so i applaud having a good test, if nobody has drowned here, the test is working. I do have to give a thumbs up for the reasonably priced snacks(ice cream bars were $2) and the fact that they play family friendly music on the sound system. Probably my only recommendation is to pump some of the water from the spring to water the grass around the quarry and maybe seed it each spring. some green soft grass would be welcome. Btw the 2 diving boards are awesome, very unique nowadays, even if they dont allow backflips. read more
