Pros: -well maintained course; greens are in nice shape, fairways can be muddy (muddy spots) and I'm told it can be pretty wet/muddy in the winter. This course sees a lot of traffic. -great practice area, once of the best around actually. Huge putting and chipping green -course is challenging, with mostly lateral hazards; not a ton of white stakes.

My husband passed away in 2022, and can no longer book a single, even if they have open tee time, they just refuse to fill them. I live out of town and they tell me to drive in and see if they can accommodate me! Are you kidding? Last week, I golfed this year with my granddaughter and required a handicap flag due to a severely broken femur making walking extremely difficult for me especially on uneven ground. If you have any type of mobility problem, Tumwater valley is NOT ADA ACCESSIBLE with a cart. They purchased these carts and software that beep and then the cart comes to a complete stop if you get to close to where they think you should not be. No signs that indicate "NO CARTS BEYOND THIS POINT " like normal golf courses, which would give you some idea that your cart would quit. Then you have to reverse to get out of it and the direction to go is not always obvious. Very frustrating. I hit my ball on a par 3 and it only went about 50 yards on a 160 yard par 3. My ball landed on the opposite side of the cart path near the woods and I thought I could drive across the fairway to my ball since I was no way close to the green......No way, my cart was programmed not to go across any par 3s. It was extremely difficult for me to walk to my ball. For a City owned course not to be accessible, is I believe against the law. I called the office a couple times because my cart got stopped and was told that it was programmed for the easiest access, but still nowhere enough for a mobility disability. I have been golfing a very long time and I know not to drive on the green, but now, I sometimes I have to get to the back side of a green and the hilly part was very difficult. These carts explain the large number of walkers I saw on the course....more than I have ever seen in my life time of golfing at this course. It appears golfers would rather walk than deal with the annoyance of these carts. I will never play Tumwater valley again. They tried to bring me a different cart, but since there is apparently no way to turn the program off if you have a disability you just cannot get reasonably close to your ball in some instances. I would not encourage going to Tumwater Valley. Find a different course. Their no singles policy is also ridiculous. They can always book a twosome of threesome with a single like other courses.

The golf course Anderson Island is really well designed and beautifully maintained nine hole course. Everyone's friendly. Deer watched us golf --ha ha! After a pretty good game we walked over to the Lakeshore Restaurant. Great food and drinks on the deck overlooking Lake Josephine--beautiful. Our friends kids took the peddle boats out on the lake. That morning we took kayaks up to a boat launch at the north end of the island and paddled out to Eagle Island State Park. It is a wildlife refuge. We came ashore for a short hike. We spotted a nest with lovely yellow eggs... stayed clear of it of course. There were dozens of seals with their young on the beach and in the water around us. Pro shop staff, shuttle drivers, starter... all I need is a caddy next time! The snack bar was super cool, available pull carts were a nice touch and I've never had taylormade tour stripes on any complimentary range! A-Mazing! Luckily we had some beautiful weather in a long stretch of previous rainy days... the blue skies really added to the Incredible views... This course is so charming with the left over concrete slabs from the mining operation, the train that passes by and the lone tree. Now onto the golf... I had one of the best swinging days of my life and still shot a 100... I've never played a walking-only, links style course and I think I'm hooked. This course will absolutely test you.... elevated tee shots, precarious undulations and impossible to read greens... at times I would look at the green and not have any idea what I was looking at... definitely booking a caddy next time because our group could not get any putts to drop all day. Even though it was tough, it really made a lasting impression on my first time in Seattle.. can't wait to come back.

There is a small parking lot with a 2-hour parking limit. If you don't want to drive, you can easily walk from the DASH bus stop at the Farmer's Market. The bridge nearby offers a great view of the harbor. The landscaping is very nice! The walkways are easy to manage and the whole area is nicely maintained. I'm very glad there are drinking fountains near the bathrooms. There are quite a few places to sit. There are benches and picnic tables available. On hot days, all the spaces are taken. It doesn't really matter since the lawn is a fantastic place to picnic during nice days. The trees offer shade during hot days. Kids are always out playing in all weather conditions. The playground includes equipment for toddlers to 4-year-olds and equipment for 5 to 12-year-olds. The only slides available are for the younger children. There are swings for both younger and older kids. The most popular pieces of equipment are the tall cargo netted merry-go-rounds. There are two available: One is a two level merry-go-round for older kids and the other one is a slower one level merry-go-round for younger kids. Percival Landing Playground is a fantastic playground for younger kids. Small kids (older babies to pre-school) can easily maneuver the smaller equipment themselves. Kids who are five and over enjoy playing on the climbing-bar/small jungle gym. This playground might be a bit small for older kids who like climbing equipment or larger slides. Most of the older kids pile on the large merry-go-round and have a great time. The playground is semi-accessible in a wheelchair. If the wheelchair is sturdy and can do a bit of off-roading, you might be okay. I would not suggest tooling around in a transfer chair. I've seen both transfer chairs and 2-wheel walkers get stuck in the chips. The bathrooms are very nice and are handicap accessible. The overall space inside the bathroom is a tad small. It can get crowded if you have multiple children or need assistance in the restroom. I enjoy this playground and will be back often.
