Possibly r favorite course, which surprised us! Flew into Portland to visit family & decided to make the 2 hr drive up to Chambers Bay. Had seen it on tv during the Open & knew it's high ranking in US courses. It lived up to what we saw in the open. Loved the layout and strategy involved while playing. Could miss the greens and still end up with a good shot if you knew where to miss. Unfortunately the main driving range was closed so was shuttled to the alternate range farther from first tee. Overall the course was in good condition except for one part of the first green. Lots of neat shots with great views of the sound. Being required to walk added to the experience. Pace of play was good until around hole twelve, then got better again. Rarely had severe side hill lies which is unusual for hilly mountain courses. Overall great hilly experience. From customer service perspective, staff was friendly. Shuttle driver very personable. Pro shop & restaurant were nothing special, but view is amazing. Would love to see restaurant serve some fresh local catch & make it worthwhile to grab a bite there. Recommend to others & would return next time I'm in the area.

Just my favorite place to walk, with incredible views! I will miss being able to come here in the winter, as it gets way too cold for me.

If you're into golfing this one is for you! And if you're into walking hyperlapse this one is also for you. Went here for the latter since golfing is not our forte. It was a fine morning for a stroll and this bay gives you one of the best view while doing your lapse. You got the horizon, the ocean, green scenery and complete amenities like a park. There is no excuse not to do your daily routine outdoor exercise and I am so jealous of that. If i am living in Tacoma this would probably my place to jog or walk with friends or by myself. It's a bit challenging at first as there is a descend if you start the opposite way. Perfect for those who wants to improve their cardio. Absolutely recommended if you're in Tacoma. Plus it's too picturesque here not to visit. Mahalo for reading & happy juandering fellow yeeps!

Pro shop had a ton of good nice gear, course was in great shape. Pace of play is right around 4.5 hours.

Ample parking very beautiful I love Chambers! My friends and I had a great walk. It was a nice day warm out and the scenery was so beautiful. It was clean the rest on was clean.

It's a bit disturbing that I haven't written a review for Chamber's Bay up until now. I personally feel that this is one of the best parks in the University Place and Tacoma area. Right up there with Point Defiance. The views of the Olympic Mountains, neighboring islands and Puget Sound are truly views worth seeking out. There is a walking and bike path that makes an amazingly long loop around the park. I feel that this paved trail is one of the best for the area as well as it's smooth and well maintained throughout the entire loop. Right in the middle of this very large park is a golf course which plenty of avid golfers admire! If you are strolling through be sure and watch out for flying golf balls as the trail nears the course. There are other wonderful things with this park such as remnants of an old gravel and sand mining operation which left behind large concrete structures. Pillars and supports that have now taken on an artistic quality and perhaps an unintentional and exotic take on Brutalist Architecture. But those odd, monolithic wonders isn't the only thing to be offered. There is a fantastic bridge/viewing platform that ends in a point for great viewing. It goes over railroad tracks hence the bridge function and at the end you can go down some stairs to a rocky beach with Puget Sound lapping at the shore. Pretty much all the amenities for a good park are here. There is playground equipment on one side of the park and a large leashed dog park in which we took our dogs there once. There is even a nearby restaurant up on the hill. It's mainly oriented to the golf crowd but it's open to the public. Really can't praise the views for this park enough and although I took pictures on one of my visits here they don't do justice by actually going here and seeing for yourself. I don't come to this park too terribly much because it's a little bit of a drive with all the traffic congestion in-between but each visit is always... ALWAYS memorable!

One of my favorite areas in town to go for a solo run, walk with the family or take my kids to the park nearby. The golf course is surrounded by a 3 mile paved loop trail with beautiful views all around. The restrooms are really nice as far as public restrooms go. The parking lot is a good size as well and there's a couple different ones. This is a well populated area too if you're looking for somewhere to feel safe while walking/running solo. I come here year round and love it!

My oh my! Gorgeous on a sunny day! My first time here -- there is a park that connects to the overall golf course with an exceptional paved trail. I walked over 5 miles with my buddy and his dog. The views are spectacular and the greenery as well. They have these "stone hedge" statues in the middle of the golf course which is remarkable to see and they also have a bridge leading to the water. People have locks that they placed there as well. It's a great area for kids, dogs, families and those wanting to play golf. I highly recommend coming here!

Gorgeous course and full of history. Sadly it was closed for tournament prep when we went, so we were restricted to enjoying the history display in the clubhouse and walking the trail overlooking. Trail had public restrooms and would be an excellent area for spectators to watch games in action.

Chambers Bay, Home of the 2015 US Open. Up until this year, this course was a solid 3 Stars for me. Love the fescue grass, but man, the greens, the greens were horrendous. They really were bad. Good thing the Links style stands out here, the elevation changes will make you gasp, and the scenery can be breathtaking. I have played 25+ rounds here, and not once, let me repeat, not once were all 18 holes open for any of those rounds. There was always a hole somewhere that had temp green because they were repairing it. I will always maintain that Dustin Johnson lost the US Open because of the green on 18 and Speith lucked into it. But thats golf too. A lot of luck involved. Anyways, no more bad greens. After a lengthy closure to replace all greens, we are full go for 2019 and beyond. Super impressed with the new greens which to me was the final piece they needed to make this course complete. All smooth, no bumpy, griny, excuses anymore for your bad putts. Now all putts are pure and you know it went in or out because of only you. The range is also top notch with huge greens, and plenty of chipping, pitching, bunker opportunities. My only gripe here is the fees are just a tad spendy. I am not sure I would be super happy if I was an out of state player paying those fees, even the local fees are a bit too much. Pro Tip: If you don't like hot, make sure to book morning rounds as those afternoon rounds climbing hills can drain you.

Is there a better place in Washington to go for a walk??? If there is, I haven't found it yet. Dog friendly with its own fenced off area so pets can go off leash, kids playground, golf coarse, and walking trails with a view of the water and golfers. Next door is the Chambers Bay Distillery too!

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing across the board due to a complete lack of oversight and management. During bowling, there was no enforcement of basic lane courtesy or policies. Other bowlers repeatedly ignored turn-taking etiquette, which significantly slowed our play. Because we were practicing proper courtesy while others were not, we lost time -- and since bowling is charged by the hour rather than by the game, we effectively paid for time we couldn't use. No staff intervention, guidance, or monitoring was present. The mini-golf experience was similar. There was no supervision at all. People were going out of turn, grown adults were touching and interfering with the decor, and multiple individuals were in the water features, which felt unsafe and completely unmanaged. It was chaotic and disrespectful, with no staff stepping in to maintain order. To make matters worse, within hours of eating at the on-site restaurant, my 15-year-old son became violently ill with repeated vomiting and diarrhea for over 20 hours straight, resulting in a nearly five-hour visit to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital ER the next night for dehydration and uncontrolled vomiting. I also became ill, though less severely. The common food item we shared was ground beef (patty melt and nachos). Both of us ate the nachos and we were the only two that got sick. When I called the next day to notify the restaurant, the response was immediately defensive, with no concern expressed and no offer of a refund -- I had to ask. I later learned the manager I spoke with oversees both the restaurant and entertainment operations, which unfortunately aligned with our overall experience. I understand that businesses get busy. What's unacceptable is the absence of basic supervision, customer care, and accountability across every part of the visit. This was not a one-off issue -- it reflected systemic poor management.

They have two conference rooms that can be used as get ready rooms, a full kitchen and plenty of parking.
