The course itself is really beautiful. It differs from a lot of courses in that it runs through the Forrest for the most part with no homes or roads around so it is truly beautiful and also peaceful to play on. They have three 9 hole courses which can be played in various orders. I deducted two stars because the starter was allowing people to start at random. We showed up two minutes before our tee time and the starter had allowed another group to go ahead of us, even though they were supposed to have started 15 min behind us. Essentially the entire course ended up being backed up and adding an extra hour to our 18 holes. If they can figure out the start times and scheduling this course would easily be 5 stars. read more

Two hours and fifty minutes to play nine holes (Red Course). Two of us left at the turn because we weren't interested in a 5.5-6 hour round. Seems everyone golfing (other than our foursome) was a beginner golfer walking the course with no understanding of playing ready golf. No marshal on the course to keep pace of play up. I won't play here again and can't recommend it to anyone looking for a 4-4.5 hour round of golf. I give it a second star because the course was in decent shape and they have a grass driving range (small bucket is $4). read more

I played this course yesterday for the second time. I booked GolfNow prepaid. The check in was smooth and teed off on time. I love this course. Very challenging and made me use the entire clubs some more than other the green condition is very true roll. Elevation change narrow fairways especially front 9 water par 3 well designed bunkers around the greens The course is walkable but I recommend bug repellent. I got one mosquito bite. I usually book over the website, golfnow.com however I Made a booking over the phone 7 days prior to save a couple of dollars of website fee. They told me there was no book time reserved under my name. Two people I spoke in this place are so annoying and not helpful at all. It was very nice sunny day of Saturday on Oct in the middle of rainy season here is in Washington. They ruined my Saturday as well as 3 of my co workers. We could not played that day at all. All other places were packed. I never going back to this course!!! read more

This course is in great shape! Even with the dry weather we have. Long, very long course. (Cart recommended if playing 18). Lack of food options. Greens were difficult, but played true, tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Super friendly pro shop staff, and first hole marshall. Carts were in good shape. Rates were very reasonable, especially given the condition, and design of the course. Lots of trees providing good shade, but out not bounds areas were also navigable to find lost ball ( I only lost one through my round ) first time playing here and the course was not daunting. I would put this course in the easy-moderate category. It's challenges were well mapped out, and the tee boxes have overview "charts" of the shape of the course which is inviting if you've never played it. A few nice elevation changes, but not so early that you can't build up some course confidence first. Probably one of the best "value" courses around. Only cons were that the ninth did not circle back by the club house for refreshments as there was no cart service that I could see on a Saturday, and vending machines for water/water fountains were broken. Consider bringing your own water. Also- lots of ants and mosquitos. I'd wear pants if i played here again, and ants on the green can be quite annoying. read more

Zero stars for Eagle's Pride. The skinny guy JB in the pro-shop is the worst. Rude, condescending and not helpful. Hard to believe the facility manager allows this to happen. The course is 3 stars, bunkers are not good, tee ground is beat up, greens are slow, soft and bumpy. Pace of play is slow, nearly 5 hours to play 18 holes. The restaurant is not good, a lot of money for small portions, the food was marginal. Our group will not return. read more

Twice in 6 weeks I have arrived to golf and they have no power carts due to tournaments. Yet, when you call to make your tee time they don't yell you that. I've played golf for 37 years and I play 2-3 times per week and this have never happened to me until Eagles Pride twice in the last 6 weeks. This course is very long with lots of hills and it was plus 85 degrees, so walking would be very tough. To top that off, the guy that always runs the counter should never ever be allowed to be public facing, zero customer skills!! read more

I started going out here in the early evenings to walk & play the red and blue courses, mostly for the workout. The holes are long and there are several significant elevation changes so the workout is pretty intense. Its challenging - I don't quite have the length to get to some of the 400 + yard par fours and there are undulating greens where the right pin placement can drive you crazy. The fairways are fairly wide however it is virtually impossible to recover from a poor Tee-shot here because of all the timber and the tall hay grass. Tough to score well. All that being said I love it & I think the course is beautiful. In the evenings I always see wildlife including deer, rabbits and sometimes eagles. I heard it's an actual bonafide estuary now. It's rarely busy so I can whip through as fast as I want. Number six on the red course is one of the more interesting and fun holes you will ever see ... if you can get there in two then you're a better man than I. I see many people have had issues with the pro shop staff - I will just say that it is a military course and us civilians are guests. It's a cheap rate for a quality course. I replace my divots, say yes sir, and pretty much keep my mouth shut. read more

I'm only doing a 1 star for the lack of professionalism from the pro shop. Course is in really good shape. Great job by the grounds crew!! Play a round 2 weeks ago and had a cart fail on hole 12. My partner and I waited over 40 mins for the pro shop to bring us a cart. As we got back to the pro shop, I was asking if we could get a rain check on the cart. (Since we paid more for the cart then the round it self) He told us that they are getting new carts and we aren't going to rain check for the worn down cart. Just unfortunate that we drove over an hour for service like this. read more

My favorite golf course. The greens are long and wide enough for beginners. Very inexpensive. Usually uncrowded so less pressure to have to play fast. Beautiful trees and even an eagle's nest on one of the three courses. Can't ask for much more. read more

I reviewed this course previously. Didnt want to mention the guy in the pro shop, but the second time around, I cant cut him any slack. Probably one of the rudest person I have ever met. Not sure where they got this guy, but they would be better off letting him take care of the greens far away from paying customers. The guy seems always cranky and just really nasty. Called this morning to make tee time. Talked to JB on the phone and got a reservation for 1144. Arrived at Eagles Pride around 1120. Walked in to check in at the desk and JB was very rude to us, did not greet us or provide assistance. He did not have very good customer service at all. He then proceeded to tell us that he did not have our tee time down for 1144 after he was the one to take our reservation over the phone in the first place. He finished off by telling us there was nothing he could do about it. We left. read more

Cart return time is ridiculous. Tried to play a twilight round at 4pm and they refuse to give carts at that time since "carts have to be back by 7pm." It's summer right now and sunset isn't until 830pm. Doesn't make sense for a golf course and to top it off the employees are rude to customers. Don't recommend. read more

Having recently gotten back into golf after a six year hiatus, I welcomed the flyer in my room at Fort Lewis lodging advertising a twilight golf special for $27. 18 holes and a cart for $27?? You're damn right I was there. I actually played the course several times after the club pro laughed at me following my first round of golf there: Pro: So, how'd you do? Me: Horrible. I shot a 137, 70 on the front ni... Pro: You shot a WHAT? Me: 137. 70 on the front nine, 67 on the ba... Pro: You got a 70 on the green course? You've got to be kidding me. No one is THAT bad. *takes score card* Me: Yeah, it su... Pro: HOLY!!! Come here, let me give you some pointers... Following those pointers, I went back out and played the course over and over again. Now, there's something to be said about playing a course several times since you do tend to learn the nuances of the land, the lies of the greens, and what hazards to avoid. The green and red courses were fun, a tad challenging on some holes, but overall, fair and would keep a beginner to moderate golfer well interested. The blue course was easy save a nasty par 3 over water with reeds backstopping the back of the greens. On that hole alone, I lost four balls and paid for it handsomely by burning the mulligans I usually allow myself and a few penalty strokes. Otherwise, the course is great - just make sure that if you're on Seattle hours, you get there relatively early. Since it's a public course, most folks get there around 5:00pm, to include the military, and it gets abysmally slow as folks ignore golf ettiquette, shoot three mulligans per hole, or play a foursome of bad golfers like myself. Apparently, they don't know the "double par" rule - if you double the par on a hole, just pick up your ball and walk to the next one. Horrendous. But the beauty of the course will charm you to keep coming back. read more

Looking for a challenge? Fort Lewis G.C is a fantastically well maintained hilly, treed, bunkered, water hazard filled golf challenge that you just should not miss. Located about 20 minutes south of Tacoma just past Dupont is is well worth the drive. Back in the 90's due to budget cut backs some of the military courses have been opened to the public and this is one of the best courses if not the best I played in my 10 yrs in the service traveling around and playing every course I could. I have played the famed Air force Academy course and think that Fort Lewis is quite a bit more challenging and just a great layout. This course is rarely crowded on the week days and right now they have a $25 18 hole special that includes cart! That is a steal. This is on my "must play" list every year. read more

Came here with a group from my unit for a small Tournament. Got some food before we headed off for our Tee. Pretty good food! The only complaint I have is the flags are different colors and the greens weren't even greens. I think they were exfoliating them or something? The were all super sandy and threw off my putt game hardcore. read more

27 hole course only in the spring. 18 hole winter course but you miss (what I think) is the best hole on the course and have to play 9 holes on a course also used for foot golf. The lady in the pro shop was slow and flustered. The greens were below average. There was no starter on a busy holiday and there is only one person working in the restaurant. The only good thing is the $26 green fee, cart and food voucher deal. You've got to get it together before Spring Eagles Pride. read more

This is a difficult review. The physical layout of the course is very polar. There are a handful of holes that are absolutely ridiculous. I played on a day of terrible weather and the marshal did not understand Golf ettiequte and drove by my group as we were hitting and drove along the fairway after telling us to speed up a few holes prior. We had an event and they raised the prices after telling out event how much it was. Course is maintained relatively well for a military course but I would not recommend playing here consistently. read more

The course is in great shape and an absolute joy to play. But, unfortunately if you have to have any interaction with the two older gentleman that are running the pro shop throw you're bag back in the car and go to any of the 200+ courses in the greater Seattle area. My cart stopped running today and hole on hole 4 and I called in to let them know that I just needed a replacement cart and that I would be walking the next few holes not to inhibit pace of play only to be talked down to condescendingly. By hole 6 green I place a 2nd call and talk to a nice young woman that was working and they said no problem we will have a cart out shortly. I watch as the pro brings out the other cart in tow due to understaffing in these trying COVID times. I am now on hole 10 and watch the pro driving back with 3 carts to just drive back to the cart barn. It was a beautiful day and I was already walking so I placed a third call to let them know that I would be walking a just would like a refund for the cart fee upon arrival at the end of my round. I walk in a see what I assumed was the nice young girl I talked too and explain who I was from earlier today and she walk back to grab the Pro. He gives me a hard time and said he looked for me and that he drove the cart back himself after I watched him tow all three together back to the barn as I sat on 10 tee box. To end this long story of the worst and most unprofessional Interaction with a Golf Pro Manager, just have someone else go in and pay and walk the course if you can! read more

I played this course in the rain recently (shocker) and still had a extremely pleasurable experience. Apart from a couple soggy tee boxes, the course handled the moisture well. The greens were a tad bumpy but surprisingly speedy. The design of the course is second to none. No hole is like the next. Each green has different undulations and there are just as many doglegs to the left as there are to the right. And I can't forget to mention the awesome demanding finishing hole the measures almost 600 yards from the tips. A slow sweeping dogleg left toward the clubhouse is a great finisher. Also, has a great practice facility: multiple practice greens, grass tee and covered tee for the driving range. read more

Played the course on Wednesday. The guy in the pro shop was the worst! I made a tee time a couple days ago with a lady in the pro shop. I asked her what tee times were available. She said 10:30 or if I waited until 11:54 then it would be $22 instead of $28 and it would include a sleeve of balls. It was a special they were running. I said the special sounds great. I've never played the course and I'm driving an hour each way to play with a friend. I got to the course and the guy in the pro shop tried telling me it was $28 and that I was too late for the special. I told him how the only reason I booked the later time was because the lady told me about the special. He goes "is an extra $6 going to hurt your bank? Hasn't your stimulus came in yet?" I couldn't believe that he was talking to me like that. I stayed polite with him and he ended up honoring the special. Based off other reviews it looks like I'm not the only person that has posted about him. The course is very fun. The red course had some bumpy greens because it was punched and sanded 2 weeks ago but the blue course had great greens! The course needs to do something about the guy in the pro shop. read more

Probably 3.75 stars. Open to the public, but as far as courses on military bases go, it is one of the better ones I have played. Most military courses are usually fairly benign (straight holes w/elevated greens and little to no hazards). More challenging than many of the other South Sound courses as well. Lots of trees which are relatively close to the fairway. Decent bunkering/hazards create a challenging course that can be frustrating at times. Course condition is allright....some issues with the condition of the tee boxes, fairways and greens, but for the cost, that is to be expected. Pace of play can slow to a crawl during normal busy periods (weekends/afternoons). Large range of skill levels may slow pace of play as well. Just know what you are getting into and enjoy your time out on a decent course at a good price. Great practice area with heated hitting area in the winter (mats). Summer allows for a very large natural grass range. Decent chipping area (2 greens) for long/short/sand shots and two putting greens. Facilities and staff are OK. Usually a good play/cart/food deal to be had. First Tee courses offered during spring / summer and fall. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but when I saw the junk that was written here I had to respond. This is an excellent course and an outstanding value. There is an 18 hole course and an additional nine. All of the nines are well over 3000 yards from white tees. There are a number of outstanding holes, my favorite is number 6, a reachable par five dogleg left with a pond guarding a challenging rolling green. The course is long and there are several places where it is a long way between holes, so walking can be a challenge. The course is usually in good shape, although only 18 holes are open in winter. The greens are in very good shape, many are quite sloped and challenging. Water only comes into play on three holes, but there are numerous bunkers on every hole. Most fairways are lines with large fir trees. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I often play super twilight (after 4), all the golf you can squeeze in for $17 walking. There is a driving range with grass tees. Despite being right off of I-5 and inexpensive the course is rarely busy. read more

I'm reviewing the golf course solely on their catering. I recently had my wedding in their banquet hall. While they did a pretty decent job at executing my wedding, their lack of communication and "laid back" tendencies made it very stressful for my family & I during our planning period. I often had to call several times in a day to reach someone or to get an answer and callbacks, for the most part, took a long time. The day of my wedding, they didn't put out salad dressing and their answer was something along the lines that it wasn't stated we wanted dressing. Well, you can't have salad without dressing! When we went to set up the day before the wedding, their banquet hall was filled with old furniture, which should have been moved out before we went to set up. Half of the tablecloths & napkins were soiled and didn't even look clean. If they are that stained, don't use them! The only reason I'm not giving a worse review is because of Mari. She ended up taking over as the main contact person. Every issue that arose, she took care of it. Granted, she took over 2 weeks before my wedding and I wish she had taken over sooner. While their catering team does well in the final execution, they need to communicate better and plan better. Simply based on the stress and frustrations I had to deal with, I would only recommend them if someone needed an affordable venue to use. read more
