    Shoyu Ramen
    Mindy O.

Nice new and inviting ambiance with half booth seating. It was more spacious inside than it looked from outside. The lanterns and the Japanese writing on the wall were a cliche decor but alright. The service was OK/good. It's a neighborhood ramen option to get a Japanese food fix in a pinch. They have udon, bowls, curry and other goodies. They only have one sushi roll on the menu. Shoyu ramen was not real shoyu soup, but rather tonkotsu-based shoyu flavored soup. The flavor was bland, and as a shoyu ramen fan, it was disappointing. BBQ Pork Bowl was good but a bit too salty and had a distinctive Chinese five spice flavor which I didn't care for. Pork Katsu Plate came with a heap of rice. Katsu was nice and crispy but thin and a little stiff. I am not used to eating Japanese food with long grain fluffy kind of rice. It's usually short grain sticky rice. Messing with the rice is no good... We will probably stay away from the rice dishes next time.

I am a huge Ramen fan. I love these dishes, especially in the winter time and I really liked coming here because I had to have the fried chicken Ramen. I could've eaten 50 pounds of the fried chicken. It's done so well and the flavor is really good, but I chose to get the spicy miso base and Man was it delicious. I swear to God I could've eaten the stuff by the bucket. It is really comfortable seating in the parking is ample as a shared parking lot with a major grocery store so I have to give them credit. I love this place. I found it to be perfect but if you come in, be sure to ask about the slushy lol

This spot has been on my list of places to visit since I saw that it opened recently. One rainy day, I finally found myself here. We were promptly greeted and seated after walking in the door. The server was super friendly. We ordered pan fried dumplings, chicken katsu curry, the salmon bowl, and I ordered the fried chicken ramen from their specials menu. The pan fried dumplings were just perfect! They were tender but with juuust enough of a crisp on one side. My dad loved the curry, and my son was happy with his salmon bowl, although he did hand off his broccoli. My fried chicken ramen had a spicy broth that was just the perfect amount of heat. I added seaweed pieces and bok choy. I wasn't expecting for the chicken to come on the side, but I'm glad they thought ahead for the diner, so the chicken wouldn't get soggy while waiting to be eaten! The chicken comes as big pieces of karaage (GREAT Japanese fried chicken)! I would definitely visit this restaurant over and over again, to try out the rest of them menu, and you should, too!

Decided to try out Tengu tonight for takeout. My first impression is the restaurant is adorable, you can tell the owner put in a lot of work to make it look cool, and it does. Staff were happy and very polite with us. Checking out the menu they have a great lunch time special and the best menu ever. Every item has a clear photo. Great for indecisive people like me that look up Yelp to see photos of the food. We ordered the spicy miso and the Tengu Tonkatsu. The spicy miso was my favorite out of the two, but both were average in my opinion. Taking into consideration that I took this to go I would definitely come back, dine in and order something with thick noodles instead. Every other aspect of this restaurant was excellent.

Yuzu Cheesecake and Sesame Balls for desert!

Another great meal at our local Ramen joint. I like their smaller dishes, getting to mix and match. My kids love the udon noodles. My wife likes the Ramen. Service was wonderful. Our waitress took our order and repeated it for clarity. All items came out quick. Ambiance is on par with all Noodle shops. Today we noticed the desserts. The four of us shared the Yazu cheese cake and sesame balls. The Yazu wasn't too sweet or tart and the sesame balls were warm, both going well with the ice cream.

Met a friend here for lunch on a Tuesday. It was moderately busy and service was quick. The dining is casual and relaxed. Upon entry, I was warmly greeted by someone. He was pleasant with a welcoming smile. I'm sorry I didn't get his name, but he was also our server. For some reason, I was just having a hard time choosing a ramen and making a decision. Our server was extremely helpful and I ended up going with the chashu ramen. It was perfect for the weather (cold and rainy). This ramen had a rich hearty broth with layers of flavor. The noodles had a good bite, cooked well. We also had vegetable spring roll appetizer to start. They were nice with a crispy wrap and paired with a sweet chili dip. Overall food and experience was positive. I would definitely recommend, and I'm definitely returning to try the other dishes.

Fried Chicken Curry and Spicy Miso Ramen

TENGU RAMEN, ESCONDIDO. Walked in with my boys 8:10pm on a Sunday, received a warm greeting and instructed to seat ourselves. We found a cozy half booth and enjoyed the comfy spot as we took in the simple and pleasant decor. The place is clean, open and airy, not noisy. There were a few other patrons who appeared to be enjoying their meals. We were handed menus and perused the options. We ordered 2 waters, 1 sprite, the Spicy Miso Ramen (server said only served with pork and couldn't choose alternate protein) and the Fried Chicken Curry entree. Both were delicious, perfect temperature, spice level was excellent for myself and my kids who all enjoy a little kick but not too spicy, beautiful presentation. We asked for some side plates and extra utensils which they kindly provided. Napkins and chopsticks are provided on the table. We couldn't stop eating and I suspected they used MSG (to which I am allergic). I didn't have a reaction so they must not use it! That's great news. Our total including 18% tip was just under $40 and the three of us were full. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

    Roach in the chili oil
    Chelle Y.

I ordered Tengu Ramen in Escondido on 7/17/26 and found a dead roach in my chili oil. I called the restaunt to tell them and immediately the woman on the phone tried to tell me it was "chili flakes". She then handed the phone to another female and without asking ANY questions that person also told me it was chili flakes. I told her I know the difference between chili flakes and an insect. She tried to gaslight me. That pretty much tells me everything I need to know about this restaurant. You tell me if that's chili flakes.

My family and I visited there for dinner. I ordered fried chicken spicy miso ramen, loved their thick noodle and soup. Kara-age(Japanese fried chicken) came on the side, all of us praised the flavor. My picky Japanese kids cleaned their plates at lightning speed. We are happy to find tasty Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood. Thank you for the great service.

My son is a regular here and they know his usual order. That's great customer service, if you asked me. I ordered the beef ramen and it's pretty good. Prices for appetizers are decent , I'll try other dishes next time I stop in.

Came later in the evening and it was still a packed house! yes it's a ramen house but we ate appetizers for dindin!! Yummy! it's kinda too hot for soup for me right now -mid june maybe on a rainy day if we're lucky to have one/haha :) it feels kinda a small space for dining but the space became cozier as we enjoyed our meal. Friendly servers and staff. :) Great for families. lots of to go orders were being made but we still received our dinner in timely manner.

    Spicy Fried Chicken

Just left the restaurant less than an hour ago, and already wanted to come share how amazing it was! My husband and I got the fried chicken to start, and it was so good! Lightly battered and flavored perfectly, it went really well with the spicy dipping sauce it came with. I got the garlic bomb ramen, and it's officially my favorite ramen of North County! It's a spicy miso base, with a ton of freshly minced garlic.. amazing! You could smell the garlic as soon as the bowl is placed in front of you! The ramen was so flavorful and the chashu was tender. I also got the taro milk tea (not pictured), but they ran out of boba (it was a Saturday evening). That also hit the spot! My husband got the katsu curry rice plate, and he said it was amazing and we're definitely coming back for more. I'm definitely excited to try their lunch specials from 11-2 M-F, so I'll keep you posted on the other dishes we try! Service was quick, and the place was clean and had plenty of seating. Prices were also reasonable. Give this spot a try if you're ever craving ramen or Japanese in North County!

Generous toppings of crisp vegetables, tender slices of pork, and a marinated soft-boiled egg elevated every bite with layers of flavor and texture. Service was quick and friendly, and the modern, casual atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy every slurp. For a first timer at Ramen Mik this was an excellent choice with its rich, creamy broth surrounded by fresh garlic, stir fried vegetables, green onion and ginger. The noodles were fresh and had an excellent bite to them. It was a very tasty bowl of ramen and I recommend trying the BST. Overall great first time experience at Ramen Mik as service was great, plenty of seating and parking making it very accessible. It was Sunday night and we were driving back to Escondido from Anaheim. GPS says they close at 9:30 PM. We roll in at exactly 9:05 PM. Place still had customers inside, open tables, and two hostesses literally started walking us to a table. The male host said, "Last call is in 10 minutes." Cool. I jokingly ask, "For alcohol?" because I wanted TWO damn sushi rolls, not a 12-course feast. He says with a smile, "No. Last call for food and everything else." Okay... easy day. We already knew exactly what we wanted. Simple order. In and out. No biggy. Then came the look. You know the look. The "damn it, I want to go home, why did customers show up during business hours?" look from management and the sushi chefs. Next thing you know, manager says we cannot be served. Wait... what happened to "last call in 10 minutes?" Suddenly now it is, "You missed last call at 9:00 PM." It was 9:06 PM. So your establishment closes at 9:30 PM... but actually closes at 9:00 PM... but also has a last call in 10 minutes... but also refuses service? Got it. Crystal clear. Listen, if y'all want to leave at 9:00, then change the damn hours to 9:00. Do not advertise 9:30 and have people driving 70 miles just to get hit with attitude and false hope. So we walked out and went somewhere else. Being turned away wasn't the problem. The problem was being treated like customers showing up during YOUR posted business hours was somehow our fault. Change your damn hours to 9:00 pm then. Do better!
