As a travel healthcare worker, I was looking for a new place for dental services while in Boston. After seeing (and falling for) the ads on social media, I decided to seek dental care at Tend. I was drawn to the multiple locations in different cities, which would be helpful for keeping up with my dental care while traveling. I arrived for my appointment but wasn't seen until almost 15 minutes after my scheduled time. I realize providers can run behind, so it wasn't a big deal, but it's worth noting. The facility is clean and aesthetically pleasing, and the front desk staff is helpful and knowledgeable. However, the cleaning I received was not the best I've ever had--decent, but not as thorough as previous experiences. I have a permanent retainer, and past hygienists have used superfloss to clean around the brackets, but that wasn't done here. If those areas aren't flossed, it's not the most thorough cleaning. I didn't feel like I was being sold anything unnecessary which was a plus. Additionally, my overall experience was very different from what I had expected based on the ads. I wasn't given the opportunity to brush before my appointment, didn't receive a hygiene/swag bag, the screen wasn't personalized and the ceiling television wasn't used during my appointment, despite answering a questionnaire about my preferences beforehand. It felt like a bait-and-switch experience. The x-rays took longer than I was used to and were the least comfortable I've ever had, though my hygienist did answer my questions, and the dentist was personable. They provided explanations for any concerns which was helpful. The location is convenient, and they offer appointments outside of the standard 9-to-5 workday, which is super helpful. However, this was a very basic experience, not the excellent care I was led to expect. read more

Worst experience in the Tend Dental, Post Office branch. No professionalism, no ethics and no accountability by Dr. Andrew Fraser and whole Tend team. I started my treatment few months back with Dr. Andrew Fraser after he convinced me that I can get my desired ortho results with their express Invisalign treatment. But after even 4 months when the desired results didn't show after being fully compliant, the doctor just left the room never to come back and I was being told that Dr Andrew will not be my dentist anymore and if I want further treatment I should shell out more money or I can close the treatment, which is highly unprofessional and uncalled for. They are not even refunding my money now which was promised before I signed closing papers because I didn't get the desired and promised ortho results after even 6 months. I am not exaggerating or manipulating any facts here. Very bad attitude by doctor there and the whole Tend team trying to cover inefficiency of a doctor and the treatment planning. Do not choose Tend for your Ortho needs. Waste of money and time. read more

I originally liked the aesthetics and the idea of being able to choose your own options before the appointment. And I had an ok time the first few visits, as someone with a lot of medical/dental anxiety and pain, however right out of the gate I was annoyed-- whatever settings you chose pre appointment, they ignored and would still ask you. Isn't the point to just have the settings you want without having to talk about it?? Anyway, they told me I needed some onlays, and that was where things went bad. They were not able to get the Novocain right, so after being shot repeatedly I was still in excruciating pain and could feel everything. I assumed I was just resistant to Novocain, but have since had work done at another dentist and realized it was just their incompetence. Then, once the work was complete, my invisilign retainer no longer fit. They didn't do invisilign at that time, so rather than offer to pay for it to get refit at another location, they made me an awkward huge and very hard/uncomfortable mouth guard. Well, the amount of torque it took to get the mouth guard on and off ended up compromising one of the onlays, so then I had to get that one done again-- again in excruciating pain the entire time. By the time that was done, they offered invisilign and so I demanded that they redo the bottom retainer. They agreed and offered me a free whitening treatment as well, which I took. Well, the whitening treatment resulted in 4 days of the worst pain of my life, and damaged my enamel so completely that now I am unable to have my teeth cleaned without that also being excruciating!!! So like two cleanings later with my pain and anxiety through the charts, a new dentist I've never seen before comes in, barely introducing himself, starts shoving his fingers in my mouth and tells me that if my teeth really hurt that bad then I need gum surgery immediately, starts describing the gruesome process, and starts going into detail about a bunch of other surgeries I am going to need. At this point I've had enough. I'm shaking and crying and he doesn't even acknowledge this, he just tosses me a referral and leaves. I got 3 steps out the door before I had a full blown panic attack. My anxiety issues are all over my chart, this establishment specifically caused an immense amount of medical trauma, and this guy just walks in, manhandles my mouth, and continues to retraumarize me -- that's it. I'm never coming back. The kicker is, when I finally work up the nerve to go to another dentist, they inform me that the gum grafts and other surgeries the guy terrified me with are completely unnecessary--HOWEVER all the onlays they did only 2 years ago are hosed and I have to get them redone. At my first visit I felt very welcomed by reception and at ease! I was given a toothbrush upon arrival to freshen up and also a soothsonic toothbrush to take home! Brooke, my hygienist was an angel and was very kind, gentle and attentive! My teeth have never looked better after a cleaning and X-rays. My dentist was thorough and sweet. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a medical office. I called probably 5 times today trying to speak to someone and you are put into a que for a customer support rep. This is for a dental problem, noone has picked up, I waited 10 minutes and nothing! Doctors offices should have someone available to address concerns. This is the same hold music when you are trying to pay your comcast bill. Another example of a watered down customer experience because it is tech focused not patient focused. Cancelled my appt on me because the provider called out. When I called to ask a question about"todays appointment" is when they told me. Apparently since I had opted to get reminders via text/email they don't call you with important different level information like that. They send a LOT of emails so I assume anything from them is spam at this point-not a great way to operate since I had already started on my way over. On the phone when I gently expressed that this is not a good system for customer service or managing appointments, I was promptly told I'll just have to reschedule online and hung up on. Also would not give me the upfront cost of my cleaning. I wouldn't even give it 1 star. This place is terrible. I got Invisalign with them and somehow putting new buttons on my teeth this woman named molly/Melly who knows because she is a liar got acid on my face. Then decided to smear on numbing gel after I had to point out that my cheek was on fire because she didn't even realize she 1 got acid on my face let alone 2 saw it was even there. Hard to miss...ITS a blue purplish color. That acid was on my face for over a minute and the woman didn't even care, she let me leave with numbing gel on my face because I was in so much. I then cried and went to urgent care who had to flush my face out, call poison control, and wrap my face because she gave me a second-degree burn. Let alone made it worse because she put numbing gel on an open burn. My dad called to ask what specific acid it was and the woman molly/Melly (she said her name quickly to me, so I didn't report her) lied to my dad over the phone and said there were two people in the room, but it wasn't her who did it. IT WAS HER. There was no one else in the room. The ortho didn't care either. I understand people make mistakes but there was no protocol after she burned me with acid, there was no phone call checking in, there was no paying my urgent care bills and prescription that I needed to apply for two weeks. Tend has given me both the WORST clinical experience and the WORST customer experience EVER IN MY LIFE. Was only seeking a dental treatment, got injury because of the doctor's negligence, and now having a permanent scar on my face. After the injury, the whole Tend team were acting unprofessionally and irresponsibly: 1. The doctor was aware of the chemical burn but chose to act like nothing happened. No first aid, no aftercare advice. Nothing. 2. After I tried to seek assistance, they constantly asked me to wait and then just disappeared. The whole process has been hurting me so much that I feel obliged to leave an honest review. On January 21st Friday at 2 PM, I visited Tend Post Office Square in Boston and did the filling treatment with my teeth. I was given anesthesia to my lower mouth and thus had lost feeling on my jaw. During the procedure, something dropped on my face while my lower mouth was completely numb. I had no clue what had happened until the assistant/hygienist found etching gel on my jaw. The procedure was not stopped however, the assistant wiped the chemical and the dentist continued working with my teeth without any further treatment/ first aid. When the procedure ended, *neither the dentist nor the assistant/hygienist said anything about aftercare of the acid burn on my facial skin and acted as if nothing had happened.* Nevertheless, I found a noticeable burn on the skin of my jaw through the mirror and asked the assistant, he assured me that the redness would go away "in a few hours" and asked me not to worry about it. I had not a single idea that the "gel" contains 37% phosphoric acid until I did my own research later that day. After a few hours, the redness did not disappear and became more severe. At 6:57 PM January 21, I called the office hoping to seek advice on any immediate treatment/care on the wound but had no luck to reach out to the *real* office even if the Post Square office closes at 8 PM. A staff picked up my phone, and said they would contact me later. They did not. January 22, no calls from them and my wound was getting worse. I had to seek care at a dermatologist myself and was told there is a chance of scarring. January 24, I still have not heard anything from them so I emailed their customers service. No replies. After a week, they emailed me and asked for more pictures and a full visit summary of my dermatologist visit, did not propose any kind of solution. I emailed them what were requested right away. Then they disappeared. Now more than two months has passed, I emailed again to follow up with my case. They said they will send me a very small amount of gift card (in the amount of my previous dermatologist visit) to use at Tend. And that's it, no further apologies, no reimbursement. What makes me more angry is, in their most recent email, they were trying to make a statement saying I have confirmed things I have never confirmed verbally, only trying to avoid responsibility. I absolutely find their attitude and tone awfully offensive and unacceptable. I was disappointed with my treatment experience at Tend. And I am even more disappointed with how things have been handled after I was hurt. I do not feel valued or respected as a patient and a customer. They made a mistake and caused a lot of physical and mental pain to me. But all they have been doing is to avoid responsibility by pretending they have not caused me pain at all. This pain will never go away, it stays as a mark on my face. People make mistakes, but it is WRONG to just walk away and pretend nothing happened. Tend needs some education for sure. It is near impossible to get in touch with Tend if there is an issue. My clean was subpar at best. My appointment for filling and inlay was made with the wrong dentist. I told the dentist multiple times that my inlay was not comfortable and now I have to schedule ANOTHER appointment to have it fixed. It's just inefficient. And the "bells and whistles" barely work. The AV capabilites have always had a problem in every room I've been in - unable to watch a show, the headphones don't work, the headphone won't connect with the TV. The issues are endless. Would not recommend. In true "TEND" fashion, I was just charged $575 without warning for something was supposed to be $175 which I paid at my last visit. Originally I appreciated how easy it was to get an appointment at Tend. As a healthcare worker myself, it can be hard to fit in personal appointments in the week. As I have continued here I realized how inconsiderate they can be of time, and have cancelled my appointments multiple times. I also had to change providers a few times because of their turnover- each provider had different ideas about how my care should be and changed my plan multiple times. Their cleanings were okay but I definitely had better. Most recently I was 16 minutes late (there is a 15 minute max) due to an accident on the highway. I called corporate who said they would call the desk for me. My message did not get sent and they said I was too late to be seen. I understand the limit is in for a reason, but I should have been told on the phone they would not take me. They have also changed my appointments and made me late so many times that I could not deal with their inflexibility. I will now be finding a new provider. read more

I went to Tend for a couple years but don't plan to go here any longer. I had a dental procedure done at Tend in April 2023. Before the procedure, I received an estimate from Tend that the majority of the cost for the procedure would be covered by my dental insurance. However, my dental insurance denied my claim and I was advised to send a claim to my health insurance through Tend customer service. Working with Tend customer service has been a terrible experience. I've called and emailed them several times over the past 10 months to try and get updates on whether or not my claim has been successfully sent to my health insurance. Every time, they tell me that they'll check with their billing department and I'll hear back from them. I rarely hear back from them and when I do, the responses are not helpful. And each time I reach out again, I'm sent to a different support agent and have to re-explain my situation all over again. I've asked before to escalate the situation, but nothing happens. I never imagined asking a dental office to send a claim to insurance would get this complicated. To top it off, I visited a different dentist after the procedure and explained what I had gotten done, and they said that the procedure wasn't done correctly. So, I had to get additional work done by this other dentist to fully resolve my issue. Tend is fine if you're looking for a simple cleaning and you don't have to deal with their customer service. If you do, be prepared to deal with a drawn-out and terrible experience. read more

At first I was impressed by how quickly I could get an appointment, and after moving to Boston I was in need of a new dentist. Don't fall for their "trendy" gimmicks. I have had jaw issues and wanted the dentist's advice on what the best solution would be for it, she gave me a pack of tongue pressers to do "exercises" with and sent me on my way. They also have cancelled on me day of and told me just to book another appointment on the app, without even being able to speak with someone. I was told I had two cavities my last visit. I had not had a cavity in over 10 years and they sent me multiple bills that I had paid for day of. My boyfriend was scheduled for an appointment 6 months out, but never made him aware that they had scheduled it. He missed the appointment because he was unaware that there was one, and charged him $100. Definitely won't be returning. read more

I just had my first dental exam at Tend in Post Office Square, and it was a great experience. I had gone to a dentist in Cambridge pre-pandemic but fell behind in the last 2 years. However, I really enjoyed my time at Tend. The front office staff, Shaun, Mandy, and Dr. Kendal made my experience great. When I first walked in, the front office staff checks me in and give me information in my insurance and how much of it was covered. Then they hand me a toothbrush and a toothpaste and give me the option to freshen up before seeing the dentist at their perfectly beautiful sink and vanity set up. The exam rooms were bright beautiful and roomy. Each exam room is a separate room. There's a giant screen with my name on it welcoming me. The rest of the exam was a typical one, except no one made me feel like I was a failure for any parts of my teeth. Dr. Kendal wanted to give me a filling, and they had the front office staff check my insurance and was clear with me how much it would cost before booking it. Pros All the little touches really made going to the dentist a good experience They communicate the insurance coverage very clearly The Netflix show really made the cleaning a good experience The toothpaste they gave me includes flouride but does not have SLS (hard to find) Cons It took me a few calls to confirm my insurance information. There's no way to call the office directly and they use a centralized customer service line. Tip is to have them call you back (sometimes it takes hours before I get a call back) Tips and Tricks They have a TV screen on the ceiling for you to watch a Netflix show while you're getting your cleaning. This is by far the easiest and most transparent dentist I've ever gone to. Add in the TV on the ceiling with Bluetooth headphones and the cute sunglasses for eye protection, and this place is great! They also don't shame you or talk down to you like other dentists. they talk to you like an adult. read more

They won't update my health insurance in the system even though I've provided like 4x now and it's been 6 months so I keep getting emails from their team that my insurance claims aren't going through. Unfortunately downgrading my review. I had gone to Tend for several cleanings, and they were ok. Easy to book. No hassles. I recommended a co-worker to Tend and they had a different experience. A routine crown took 6 months to get right. A few months later I discovered I needed a crown. The whole thing was a nightmare. It took much longer to get the final crown than promised and then ultimately I had to go to a different dentist to get the bite fixed. Communications were poor--I've decided I won't go back. In business, this is called churn. Great idea, but I don't think it's working. read more

Find another dental practice as there are many other options with similar options and services, the gimmicks are not worth the hassle. I have had appointments canceled last minute, as noted by others and been refused treatment for a simple procedure due to a temporary elevated blood pressure reading. When I stated I would not come back they deleted my X-rays from the app, without consultation, so that I no longer had access to them or my care plan. read more

The staff were incredibly sweet and funny, just overall genuine people (which is not how it is at many dentists office where it often feels very careless and rushed-- definitely not the case here. I really enjoyed my visit to Tend! Everyone is kind and check-in was easy. There is a tv screen in the ceiling that you get to watch while they're cleaning your teeth which makes it a bit more fun! I just wish there was better information regarding parking on their website! There is no information on where to park, or if they validate your parking at the parking garage across the street (they don't). The cheapest parking I could find on SpotHero for the hour appointment is $23 which just seems a bit too expensive to go to the dentist for an hour! This location is most likely perfect if you live in the area but it is really hard to get to without proper parking information. read more

Beware: dentist tried to get my to agree to unnecessary invasive and expensive procedures. While I liked the app and office vibe, the service was terrible. The hygienist struggled to take X-rays and I had to clench on the painful inserts for over 20 min while she tried multiple times. Most concerning was my dentist who recommended thousands of dollars of procedures (including a root canal) which I discovered were unnecessary after getting two second opinions. DO NOT GO HERE TLDR; the staff was unprofessional and told me I had multiple issues and cavities. After getting a second opinion, I had none of these things and they had lied to get money. I've gone to the dentist every 6 months my entire life and have thankfully had no issues (no cavities,etc). I went to tend bc I saw the cool ads on Instagram and needed to find a new dentist as I had recently moved to Boston. After spending over an hour there, they told me that I needed anathesia to clean my teeth and that I had 4 cavities. I was not only annoyed that I had sat there for an hour and they wouldn't even clean my teeth but also extremely skeptical of what they were suggesting. The hygienist (Nelson) and dentist spoke back and forth to eachother in "dental jargon" saying things about how my bone was deteriorating and my teeth were going to fall out, I had decay, I had TMJ etc. and when I expressed my surprise and concern about what they were saying they were extremely rude. Obviously I was panicking that I had suddenly developed all these problems and they just shrugged and started to show me how to make all my subsequent appts. Thankfully I was going home the following weekend and was able to get an appointment at my former dentist. He told me I had 0 cavities (like literally said he didn't have any clue where they could have even been) and that everything looked great. Tend is absolutely a scam. This Tend location canceled my appointment less than three hours before I was due to be there by text message. It seems customary to at least receive a phone call. This was after I received a confirmation email the morning of the appointment. I was asked to call a generic number to reschedule only to find out all of their customer care is handled through a call center. I was told patients don't have access to a local number. You should know that if you cancel your appointment on the same day as a patient, you will be charged $100. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in a while (7/8 years) due to my fears and anxiety surrounding it. I needed to get some pretty extensive work done and the team at Tend was nothing short of phenomenal. Dr. Manar Abdelrahim is one of the most incredible dentists and people I have met. She was so kind to me regarding my anxiety and actually cured my fear of the dentist. Tend gives you a compressive list of all the work you need done, will make the schedule for you, and is transparent with all the fees/payments for the work. I send everyone here now. I went in for my first clean up, which was very thorough, and mentioned that I'd have the little cement(?) hooks that the Invisalign hold onto in 4 four of my teeth for the past maybe 6 years or so and hadn't been able to get them removed. Such a terrific experience! It's been a hot minute since I visited the dentist and the entire practice was very welcoming and extremely nice. Their office in Post Office Square was super easy to find (right past the Boloco if you know the area) and street level, no need to worry about what floor and what building. The dental hygienists really wanted to see you be comfortable and happy (Mandi is terrific and helpful! and so was Aaron!) and the doctor just wanted to make sure they were doing the right thing for you. They even took the time to pull up an example on screen of what they were referring to. During the cleaning you can watch your fave Netflix show on a ceiling mounted TV and are given beats noise cancelling headphones and warby parker sunglasses as goggles. Teeth cleaning isn't fun or painless, but Mandi did her absolute best to make sure it was as close to painless as possible. It's weird, but for the first time I do not dread going back to the dentist. Just want to say thank you to everyone there! read more
