I've been going to Brookline Dental for 6 years, but they've changed for the worse in the last two years. 1. The dentists are all in a rush and don't listen to patient concerns. I'd been complaining about a pain in my tooth the last 4 visits which they ignored and blamed on my brushing, but when I pressed the issue they discovered I had a broken filling. The dentist who finally looked at it said my concerns were never put in my chart. 2. It feels like you're constantly trying to be upsold unnecessary things like teeth whitening and other cosmetic stuff. In my last two appointments all of a sudden they wanted to recommend additional cleanings, and even though I denied they've started sending me texts every three months to schedule a cleaning. 3. In my last appointment they quoted me for a huge bill, and when I investigated further it was because they said they were going to make me a retainer which was never discussed and I never asked for. 4. To top it off they've made the unfortunate decision to incorporate an AI assistant. I think some of the dentists there do a fine job but overall it's changed completely since I started going there and will unfortunately not be going back. read more

Extremely disappointed with how my visit ended. The hygienist was great and the dentist was fine, but the entire experience was ruined afterward. I specifically booked here because they supposedly take my insurance, only to be told after my appointment that the dentist I saw was out of network. Apparently, unless you explicitly tell them you want an in-network dentist, they'll randomly assign you to one who is out of network. That is absolutely ridiculous. Who in their right mind would choose to pay more if they didn't have to? It was illogical, misleading, and honestly felt like a trap in their system. The front desk tried to claim they "called me to double check" because I booked online, but I never received a call. Either they didn't call, or they're not verifying numbers correctly so they definitely are not organized. I walked in expecting a normal dental visit covered by my insurance. I walked out with an unexpected bill. Update: They said they would call me back to let me know the updated bill with the insurance, but never did. It is a shame because their office workers all seem nice, and their presence really shapes the initial and final dentist experience. read more

My son was a patient of Dr. Mary Ghattas, and our experience was full of repeated cancellations, disrespect, and a disturbing lack of professionalism. At first, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt -- but it became clear over time that I was not being treated with the same respect as other parents. And I believe that had a lot to do with how I look and who I am. From the very beginning, Dr. Ghattas would look me up and down, often with a smirk. At first, I brushed it off. But as the appointments went on, her behavior made it clear -- she didn't respect me. Whether it was my size, my ethnicity, or simply because I spoke up, I don't know. But what I do know is this: she treated me like I didn't deserve basic courtesy. The turning point came when she scheduled my son for dental surgery and then canceled the appointment without ever notifying me. I woke up early, paid $60 roundtrip in Uber costs, and only found out during my travel that the procedure had been canceled -- without a single phone call, message, or apology. This wasn't a cleaning. It was surgery. When I brought this up to her calmly during a follow-up visit, she cut me off and spoke to me in a sharp, condescending tone. When I explained how I wasted money and time because no one told me the surgery was canceled, she didn't apologize -- instead, she shifted blame onto me and questioned whether I had even taken my son to a previous appointment (which I had). She literally said, "Well, I don't even know if you sent him where I told you to." That was the moment I said, "If you need answers, look in his mouth. The answers are right there." That's when everything changed. She was visibly embarrassed -- and from that day forward, she began canceling every appointment we made. Three times in a row, she called on the day of or the day before and canceled. No explanation. No reschedule. Just cancellations, again and again. So I did what she had done to me: I scheduled one final appointment and waited until ten minutes before the time to call and cancel. I calmly told the receptionist that we would not be returning and that I need a provider who respects me as my son's guardian -- not one who punishes me for standing up for myself. There was no apology. No supervisor follow-up, even though one was promised. Just silence. And that silence speaks volumes. Let me be clear: I did nothing wrong. I advocated for my child. I handled paperwork, guardianship, appointments, and care on my own. I did it all without yelling, without being rude, and without ever skipping a step. What I received in return was humiliation, gaslighting, and targeted retaliation. If you are a parent, a guardian, or someone who expects to be treated with dignity -- please think twice before trusting this practice. I will never let anyone put their hands in my child's mouth again if they can't even speak to me with basic respect. read more

For routine dental care I have no complaints. The practice offers convenient hours, including Saturdays. Booking appointments has always been hassle-free, and the front desk staff are friendly and efficient. However, my experience with Dr. Hur, the periodontist, was disappointing. His care felt impersonal and rushed. He was not readily available to answer questions that I had about the surgery or post-care instructions. Much was delegated to his assistants, who seemed less knowledgeable or still training. At a follow up he prescribed me on a second course of antibiotics without explaining whether it was a precaution or if he suspected an infection. This lack of communication left me uncertain about the state of my healing. The suture removal was also hasty and incomplete. Even two weeks after the removal, I was still pulling out bits of suture from my gums that had worked it's way out. But the most concerning aspect was the lack of attention to basic patient care--I left the office with visible blood stains on my face that had not been cleaned off. In my opinion, this is unacceptable and reflects poorly on attention to detail. While my routine dental care here has been positive, my experience with Dr. Hur leaves me hesitant to recommend him for periodontal procedures. read more

They answered any questions I had regarding insurance and made scheduling my future appointments very easy. Dr. G was very helpful and patient in my consultation. DO NOT TRUST. Told dentist I made appointment because I had good dental insurance. Hygienist asked me if I could read X-rays. Really? Then told me I had THREE cavities. Other things seemed shady, i.e. hygienist made me feel quite ashamed about the state of my mouth (I hadn't been able to see a dentist for a while because COVID). Then, the first question that the dentist asked me was if I wanted braces?!? I decided to go to see another dentist for my next cleaning and guess what: not ONE cavity. I found Brookline Dental Specialists recently and booked a cleaning with Dr. Katrina Torres. She was very friendly and seems highly knowledgeable about dentistry. The hygienist was unavailable that morning so Dr. Torres performed the exam and cleaning herself. She was very gentle and thorough. The office was clean and surprisingly large! If you have kids, some of the rooms are set up specifically for them with kid friendly colors and chairs. Really cute. Would highly recommend. read more

I can't thank Dr G. and the rest of the Brookline Dental staff for the work that they've done. I was always hesitant to go through ortho because of the complexity of the work that I needed done and the nightmare stories I've heard about how long it takes for results. I realized now that those stories were simply told because those people hadn't gone to Dr G. If you're looking for an honest, professional, straight to the point and quite honestly a miracle worker, Dr G and her team is who you want to see. From the first time I visited the office I never felt like I was misinformed or worried about whatever needed to be done. And there was a lot to be done! I always knew I needed a lot of work and a lot of movement and shifting needed to take place, but after looking at the before and after pictures I realized just how much of a miracle worker Dr G actually is. From explaining pricing, to setting realistic expectations, I always felt i was in good hands. My follow ups did not feel like follow ups instead it felt like catch ups with friends. I just took my 3.5 year old to see Dr. Gabrilowitz and it was such a great visit. She was so good at building rapport with my son by giving him small choices to make and giving him control of the dental suction; she patiently waited for his answers and I could tell that he felt like a big boy! This was his second visit and she cleaned the food out of his teeth, polished them and applied some kind of vitamin lacquer. I have been a patient here for about 2 years now. I initially went because I was looking for a dentist that accepted my insurance (my current dentist did not). Beginning this year, I have now switched over to them (Dr. Fattahi) completely after getting a better dental insurance! I love the office staff. They are very professional. I have had 2 different hygienist since I have started (I go for semi annual cleanings). I have recommended the office to my little nephew (now 5yr) for his first cleaning 2 years and he loved. My personal experience at this dental office has been great and so has my entire family's. Both of my sons age 3 and 6 started here. The hygienists are absolutely amazing w kids and really remove the fear of going to the dentist. Last visit my oldest had a cavity and the dentist Dr. M. filled it so fast and I was so impressed my son did not cry. My youngest even got to wear sunglasses while they did cleaning and had exam. Although this place is geared towards kids and orthocare my husband and I both now go here as well. Fast, prompt and very courteous staff all around. Great office with a good vibe. I recently changed my dentist because of the negative experiences I have had at Brookline Dental Specialists. At first this seemed like a great office and a convenient location. The first dentist I saw here was fine and the hygienists are great. Negatives: The office is geared towards children. Everything is brightly colored and adult patients like myself may feel out of place. Then when it's time for the cleaning, they take you to a room that is shared. Two dentist chairs - one room. You get to listen to all the disgusting details of someone else's dental history and care while you discuss your own in the presence of another patient. Very strange and uncomfortable. Once it came time to have some fillings done, the sales pitch on the most expensive option is VERY strong. They're company line is "we just want what will look best in your mouth". My opinion is that I will pay for what I can afford and I don't need the extra pressure when making my choice. Now for the worst experiences. My dentist that I was seeing left and no one mentioned anything. I figured it out when I arrived for a cleaning and some stranger sat down and poked around in my mouth. He didn't introduce himself nor did anyone explain that he would be taking the place of my previous dentist. He continued to pressure me for white fillings over silver just like everyone else in the office. The times that I had fillings there were terrible and not just because the procedure is unpleasant to start with. After having a very difficult filling done (there were tears involved and I was in the chair for over an hour), I go to pay at the end and the receptionist asks me "how was it?". I tell her it was awful and she looked taken aback. Seriously? Why would you even ask when you can hear what's going on down the hallway and when you know I've been in the chair for an abnormally long time? Another time I go in to have fillings done and the assistant wasn't even sure of which teeth they would be working on and he did not speak English very well which just exacerbated the problem. After the procedure, I had to go back the next week to have my fillings shaved down because they were too high. As if I didn't have enough fun the first time... Just poor service all around and a heavy sales pitch for the most expensive options. Save your time and money for a place that actually understands that people skills are necessary when working with patients. I think this place only sees their patients as dollar signs. read more

Pros: Hyginiests and dental assistants Cons: If you are a parent looking for ortho treatment for your children in the area and work full time and actually don't like for your children to miss school, then DO NOT go here. Scheduling is impossible. The ortho doctor has very very limited hours and usually only available in the morning when children are in school. She goes on vacation all the time (nothing wrong with vacation once in a while) but there are no other ortho doctors to cover so again, scheduling is very cumbersome. When you try to complain, then you get big attitudes from staff and basically, you will have to miss work and school every other six weeks to accomodate the doctor. The billing process is frustrating and it takes several calls before you can actually get it done properly. If you are an adult, cleaning is great but dentist visits are frustrating. Dentists change constantly, so it is hard to establish a relationship. The visit with a regular dentist is about 30 seconds. If you are looking for great hyginiests, then this is a great place but if you are looking for dentists and convinience, this is not the place. read more

I honestly can't say enough good about this place. Right off the bat the front desk receptionists are as friendly as they come. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember and in terms of their dental hygienists, they are so friendly and make you feel so comfortable. I remember as a kid I was always excited to go and talk to them when I had to get my teeth cleaned. When I got a bit older and needed braces, their orthodontic team was again excellent, both in terms of their work and their client care. Any concern my parents or I had they immediately addressed and never just waved it off. I still come here for all of my dental needs and I highly recommend this practice for both children and adults. read more

I love this practice!! I originally found this dental practice for my son who was 9 or 10 at the time. When I found out they were a FULL SERVICE practice I switched to them myself (I am 50). I recommended this practice to my mother who had had several VERY bad and painful experiences with other dentists. She hadn't been to a dentist in years and needed work badly and was very scared. Dr. Fattahi is amazing. He fixed my mother's teeth and she said it didn't hurt at all. She is no longer afraid to go back to the dentist. I just got back from a visit where he fixed a small chipped tooth of mine. Honestly I feel he is more like a tooth "artist" than a dentist. He did an amazing job. I love the hygenists too, very friendly and the front desk is wonderful as well. They greet you by name and are extremely helpful and friendly. read more

15 yrs since my last dental visit, I hate going and if not for my wife giving me grief I wouldn't have. Went to Brookline dental specials as they were 15 min. From work. I had some pain at my gum line and asked them to tell me what they could do. After first visit they had eased my fears, it wasn't serious. Just some plaque buildup pushing on my gums. The scheduled a deep cleaning and scaling? The whole procedure was fine. The entire time I was monitored and talked to about what they were doing. The cared how I felt during the process. They even took short breaks to keep me comfortable. Sine then the pain is gone and I have been back for two more cleanings. I'm out in less than an hour every time. I am 43 and feel very comfortable in their waiting room. They have both children and adult reading material. I recommend, "the children's guide to the Industrial Revolution." I learnt a lot. Everyone there, from the front desk to the hygienists to the dentist are great. If you hate the dentists then this place is for you. When I tell them, NO, I haven't been flossing, there is no guilt, just a friendly reminder that it's on me and my teeth will last longer if I do floss. I get text messages to remind me of my appointments. Very accommodating to get me in and out over my lunch time. Plenty of metered parking and convenient. read more

I was very happy with both visits, but with the filling visit in particular. i've always disliked going to the dentist, particularly when involving any sort of needle / drilling / etc. Dr. Fattahi and his staff made me feel incredibly comfortable and were very understanding about my anxiousness regarding the appointment. He thoroughly answered all my questions and perfectly explained all available options. I chose brookline dental because they are close to where my apartment will be next year, and I couldn't be happier. I've always hated the dentist, and had pretty extreme anxiety before my appointment. The receptionist was so friendly, as were the ladies I spoke to on the phone prior to my appointment. She inquired in a non-judgmental way about my past experiences to find the root (canal) of my problem.
