I cannot recommend Dr. Gupta and his staff enough. They made my re-introduction to the dentist easy, (quite) painless, and very kind. I was so scared of going to the dentist after a horrific experience ~5 years ago. However, I knew I needed to go in, and after receiving a promotional consultation flier and reading the wonderful reviews, I decided to go for it. I am so happy I did! Not only was every step of the process clearly explained to me, but the entire staff (including Dr. Gupta, his reception staff, and the dental assistants and hygienists), were extraordinarily kind and accommodating. I was very scared and anxious about the work I needed done on my teeth, but those fears were quickly alleviated by the level of care I received. I was also explained in-depth the cost and offered a couple of different payment options before my treatment, which was very helpful. The clean, modern office was very impressive. Dr. Gupta's aptitude for painless anesthesiology and his quick, precise work made a procedure which I feared for years extremely easy to get through. He also took photos of the before/after work, which was personally very interesting to see. He has excellent "bedside" manner, never making me feel rushed with and taking the time to fully answer all questions I had. I will never go to another dentist again! Extremely predatory scheduling tactics. They will do everything to keep you paying for more visits. Was mislead about when my next appointment was and was screwed out of my 6 month exam because the office staff mislead me about when my next appointment was and what my insurance was covering. They had me go in for an "emergency" that was not even an emergency, and waited until I was already finished with the appointment to tell me that taking a piece of food out of my tooth would count as my visit- leaving out the fact that I was scheduled for a regular checkup the following week. This is not the first time situations like this have happened and the woman who is the office manager has been extremely rude while smirking over these issues. After 5 years at a dentist office I really loved, I feel taken advantage of and screwed out of my regular checkup. Would not recommend this office. I want to be clear - The dental hygienist staff are amazing - they are not part of this bad review. And until this date, I had no negative interactions with this dentist office outside of the office manager making snotty comments such as "only people with money can afford to have teeth." read more

Over 5 years later, not one other dentist has supported the 6 fillings recommended by this practice at that time. They did acknowledge that the decision to drill and fill is somewhat subjective. However, once tooth structure is removed, then it is gone forever. Therefore, they take a more conservative approach. All that said, Dr. Gupta is excellent and if you need an implant I highly recommend him. read more

This night guard is the best thing that ever happened to my mouth. Go here literally for the option to get this 3D printed (? I think it's how they did it?) nightguard that is also kind of like a retainer and literally shifted my jaw back so I have zero pain when I wake up now. Omgggggg. Also, my kids are very happy, which is great because kids can be sort of tricky at the dentist, and they're doing a great job tracking when to see the orthodontist - we also really like the orthodontist we were referred to. Oh! Turns out you can change your Netflix TV show if you'd like (although if you laugh at "Nailed It" during your cleaning it is a bit hard for the hygienist to do their job). read more

This review is for Dr. Gupta and not for his staff. The staff are lovely and professional. The dental hygienists are also quite good - I speak as someone who visited Atlantic Dental for regular cleanings for 4 years while living in JP, while away from my trusted dentist in New York. (Grace Su - look her up if you need a dentist in NYC. She is on the NYU dentistry faculty and also has her private practice). So, first things first, if you go in to Atlantic JUST for the cleanings, no problems. My complaint is regarding 1) a trend of aggressive treatment suggestions in general and 2) an incident of non-humility over a mis-diagnosis. Re: Aggressive treatment opinions Case 1: I was told by Dr. Gupta that several erosions needed to be filled in as cavities. I ignored this advice, having been informed by Dr. Su that the best practice for these erosions in current practice is to leave them alone, since filling them in might aggravate them in the long run. He made his counter-opinion known. Okay, no problem. (The tone of "I know better than you," however, was a bit of a customer-service problem). Case 2: Dr. Gupta informed me that I needed to arrange a time to get my wisdom teeth extracted. I'm one of the lucky few whose wisdom teeth have grown in without issue, so I declined. He made his counter-opinion known. No problem, we can have different opinions - though again the tone of "I know better than you" was a bit of a problem. The general thing here is an awareness one: just know that Dr. Gupta has slightly more aggressive treatment opinions than some other doctors I've encountered. I was willing to put up with it for my own purposes of just getting regular cleanings at a nearby location, but I knew exactly what I wanted and also had another trusted dentist to bounce opinions around with. Re: the non-humility over a misdiagnosis: Dr. Gupta told me that I had a filling fall out in my back right wisdom tooth. I said that this was impossible, as I've never had work done on my wisdom teeth. (I'm very obsessive and careful about my dental care after a botched filling procedure led to a root canal ten years ago). Dr. Gupta proceeded to tell me that it was absolutely certain that I had had work done, pointing to an Xray as evidence. I said, no, I know my dental history, and I've never had work done on my wisdom teeth. This went back and forth several times, each time with me saying that this work was not in my dental history. "Look, people forget," he eventually said. This was the last straw for me. What I see as problematic in this exchange is a lack of humility - his attitude was that he and his X-ray evidence was infallible. In this case, I have my records and I'm right. He was wrong. But he was absolutely unwilling to admit that he was wrong and was prescribing treatment based on his judgment. I also felt patronized, in that the dentist basically insulted my intelligence, called my memory unreliable and bullied my experience with his "Xray evidence." I'm aware that people are complex and multi-layered, and our personality traits don't come to the surface all at once or in every encounter. There's good likelihood that Dr. Gupta will provide good enough service for a given dentistry need. But a lack of humility is a dangerous quality, I think, in a medical professional, particularly when concerning patient experience. read more

I was a patient at Atlantic Dental Partners for about 8 months in 2014-2015. I got a partial-arch nightguard that ended up displacing my front teeth and causing TMJ symptoms to go from mild to life-altering. Dr. Gupta did not believe that could have happened because I didn't wear it more than directed, and some subsequent dentists didn't believe it either, all thinking my jaw had shifted somehow. Finally years later I dug up before/after dental photos and that is the current working hypothesis with my current dentist and TMJ specialist. I have trouble eating and pain speaking, and this has caused medical issues that have significantly impacted my life; I currently am on hold to get corrective orthodontia while pain management gets under control. Can I blame ADP for a rare side effect of a treatment? I guess not, which is why I haven't left a review before. I'm leaving one now because Dr. Gupta just 'liked' me on a dating app. Does he not remember a face he stared at for several visits as I kept going back and back due to pain from procedures and a broken night guard? Or did he choose to try to connect anyway? Either way, bad professionalism. read more

Went in for for two dental extractions. Was done quickly and well. The level of patient care was terrible. They sat me down and told me to sign a consent form. No talking to about the procedure or post op instructions. I had to ask the hygienist and dr. Gupta to explain the BASICS of the intensive procedure. They put minimal effort into explaining anything. I was told to "keep gauze in for 10 min" and given a paper of instructions. 2 hours later I'm still bleeding. 2 hours later I receive post op instructions via email saying to not rinse and to lease gauze on for 45 min. These are things that I needed to know before I left! Have totally made recovery more painful and messy then it needed to be. All I needed was some actual care and thinking about patient experience. Feeling super disappointed probably not going back or seeing Dr. Gupta again. Their Thursday dentist, who I usually see, is great though. read more

The hygienist was very careful and thorough. I liked how they show you pictures of your teeth so I could see what was going on. The dentist was also gentle and patient. Have been seeing Dr Gupta for years ever since I lived in the JP/West Roxbury area and I am now leaving a long overdue review after years of exceptional dental work and service. Mr. Gupta is by far a one-of-a-kind Accredited Dentist in Boston who is truly looking after the best interest of his patients. A recent example is my visit today that was originally scheduled as a root canal but with his finesse and expertise was reduced to a cavity filling thanks to Dr. Gupta's expert hands and in turn saving me hundreds of dollars and eliminating my cavity! Need I say more? Well a few more things, his entire staff is fantastic, professional and very friendly and the office provides a nice way to communicate and add the calendar invite seamlessly through the email when you schedule your routine visits. Also, the recent upgrades with wireless HD headphones and movies in the throttle (should you need more work like me lol) is pretty cool! I'd like to start this review by explaining that I am and have always been terrified of going to the dentist. It's been a hindering anxiety of mine for a really long time. Between that and a not so great insurance policy I had growing up, I did not go to the dentist as often as I should have. Whoops. Flash forward to me having a really awful toothache at 23 and going to Atlantic Dental Partners for an emergency procedure. It was a wisdom tooth removal, so obviously it wasn't pleasant, but it was quick and basically painless. Dr. Gupta was great. And I swallowed my pride and made an appointment for a cleaning and audit of my dental health. Dr. Gupta, is gentle and reasonable. There was absolutely no judgement. I had a straight forward cleaning and x-ray screening. He pointed out the issues I needed to fix and we made a reasonable plan to get my teeth back in shape (by reasonable I mean: spaced out into phases with fantastic payment plans). I got a night guard. I got my teeth drilled. I kept going *back* for my appointments which is unheard of for me. They even have night time appointments for folks that have work during the day! I got texts to remind me of my appointments that I'd always forget to put in my google calendar! Now I feel way more confident about my teeth with much more will power to actively take care of them. I cannot recommend this place enough. Seriously. I tell everybody about it. They think it's weird. I spent a lot of time at Atlantic Dental in JP this week. Two appointments, two treatments. As a new customer who wasn't looking forward to any dental procedures, I was pleasantly surprised. This was the best experiences I ever had at a dentist. The staff is wonderful. I was put at ease the moment I walked in where I was warmly greeted at Reception. Staff was professional but also very friendly and engaging. I even got help figuring out payment with my complicated insurance. I was seen on time for my both of my appointments. Everything was explained in clear language, no doctor-speak. Dr. Gupta was easygoing and focused.Everything was explained with the help of the photos the took of my teeth. The offices are neat, clean and comfortable. I loved the offer to watch Netflix during one of my procedures, who does that? I lucked up finding this place and don't anticipate going anywhere else. If you are looking for a dentist, have anxiety about dental procedures, I highly recommend Atlantic. I have had my fair share of dentist some great and some horrible and Dr. Gupta and his staff have been one of the best I've had in a long time. I have had a lot of problems with my teeth but have felt in the past that some dentist just don't really care and are just trying to make the money for the procedures but I have really felt like everyone at this office cares about my time and my dental work. If negative stars could be given, this dentistry would have the lowest rating possible. If I could give you a couple words of advice, DO NOT GO HERE, would be it. Unless you agree with a severely aggressive method of dentistry which includes rushed and extremely poor work, you should not even consider walking in the front door. I went to get some advice on how to fix a small gap in my front teeth and came away with SIX fillings (which were filled in less than 2 hours) and a $2,000 bill to be paid up front for Invisalign. The fillings from this dentistry were described by a member of the Board of Dentistry as: "Three out of six fillings needing to be replaced due to the resin-filled (composite, tooth colored) restorations were placed with open margins causing pain when chewing and hypersensitivity." "The fillings were placed on a small amount of tooth surface which prevented them from bonding properly, giving evidence that these teeth did not need to be restored in the first place." "Additionally, it was evident from the before and after x-rays that the restorations are much larger than the original decay present in the enamel layer of these teeth six months ago." If this dentists clear lack of skill, expertise and lack of any feeling of moral obligation to his patients doesn't convince you to stay away, a two thousand dollar bill for work he did not complete will read more

Came in here on a whim after deciding Chelmsford was just to far to travel to go to the dentist since moving to JP. I feel incredibly lucky to have found this friendly dentist office in my neighborhood that was able to accommodate my hours and schedule me in for a cleaning AND a crown AND fix chipped teeth all before the year was up! The office is really clean and very advanced in technology, I was able to see 3D photos of my teeth. I was even able to see the doctor work a program that digitally sized my tooth and a machine cut my crown in about 5 minutes. I was super nervous but the dentist and his lovely assistant were super sweet and even managed to make my hyperventilating self giggle. All my nerves were in vain as my teeth came out of the office 10x more lovely than they came in and without 1 ounce of pain. ALSO my first appointment was just a cleaning and probably the BEST cleaning ever as the hygienist scraped off bonding from my braces I had when I was in middle school.... 11 years ago. I liked the Doctors at Chelmsford but I will not be back to them. Atlantic Dental has me as long as I am living In New England. read more

I've gone here for a few years now. i only recently had to do major dental work which went well. I have dental insurance so the rates seemed reasonable and they did offer payment plans. i don't think they try to pressure you into unnecessary dental work. I've been to other places like Gentle Dental and they always try and tell you that you need 10 fillings asap. This isn't the case for Atlantic Dental - they only advise work when actually needed. I will be coming back again to see Mr. Gupta! read more

Dr. Gupta and his staff are AMAZING! They are the most welcoming and friendly staff. They have always been extremely thorough and handled me with care during each visit. I'm always reassured from various staff members that I'll be ok and I don't have to worry!! I have been extremely nervous about the idea of getting an implant but after having my consult, cleanings and even fillings etc done here, I realized there was nothing to be nervous about while in Dr. Gupta's chair. He's as gentle as he could possibly be even while doing such extensive procedures!! His efficiency was unmeasurable... I don't think I've ever done such procedures with any other dentist but then leave so quickly and with barley any pain. After my implant surgery, I have yet to be in any pain or discomfort since then (only had to take medication once the day of!). Beyond incredible!! Today I received my tooth and no one can figure out which is the implant compared to my actual teeth!! I'm so pleased with their work and I will literally refer everyone here!! Today was my first visit at ADP and I had a wonderful experience. I have not seen a dentist for some time and was scared to go. This place is very clean and the girls at the front desk were very friendly. I got a good cleaning from the hygienist. They have a lot of new technology and TVs on the ceiling so you can watch a show when you are getting cleaning. How awesome is that? After the cleaning the dentist took his time to go over his findings with me. They were not pushy and didn't not force me to do any unnecessary treatment. At the end they gave me a few options to pay for my treatment. I am very excited to have found this place. read more

Service is decent but "over-professional". They waist most of your time for state-of-the art pictures of your mouth/teeth from every possible angle. Then the final part of your cleaning appointment is spent talking to the "dentist-master", the owner of the clinic. He suggests you many different procedures to do, though your teeth are healthy. The experience was very irritating and slightly painful. After that, as most dentists do, they start sending you a bunch of e-mails, and dozens of phone calls to remind you of non-existing appointments. The last phone call I received (the one that made me decide I would not come back) was about my "overdue appointment" for a deep cleaning, which I never requested. I like more easy going and spontaneous people, than over-professional real naggers. read more

My name is Emilio G and I have to admit that I have never been treated with so much respect, caring and professionalism at a dental office before. I was walking around JP on Dec 28th, 2012 and just happened to go in as a walk-in patient. I just walk-in to inquire about their services and left 3 hours later with an awesome cleaning, a few fillings and complete x-rays, along with mouth graphic ( pictures I think they call it ). They were all just friendly, plain and simple. At the front desk there is a young lady name Christine who definitely knows how to explain things, after that I was brought to the back by the hygienist (Brittney I think her name was) and my God she is the best I've seen. Finally Dr. Gupta, the guy is good, no question about it, in an overall their entire staff was extremely knowledgeable on what they were doing and super sympathetic with my fear to needles. I will continue to go here and will recommend to everybody, specially my friends at work. Guys thank you again for an awesome service. I will see you in January or February on my next appointment. I spent over a year with Dr. Gupta who was completely incompetent. The work, not including my insurance which he exhausted every year over the two years that I went there for crowns and prosthodontic work exceeded four thousand dollars. The partial denture broke in my mouth three months after it was completed and I swallowed part of it which caused me severe stomach discomfort and left me right back at square one with having to start my dental work over again.. When I returned to Dr. Gupta to show him what occurred with my dental work, he was not apologetic in the least and asked me what I wanted him to do. I responded that I wanted him to redo the work . This was obviously not the response that he expected as when I returned for two additional appointments he scheduled for me for new impressions and was tied up another two months, he informed me that he was in over his head and that I needed to see a specialist. He wasted two years of my time, left me with an unhealthy mouth and then tried to pressure me into giving him $20,000 plus for implants after the shoddy work he did on my mouth. This is the most incompetent, unethical dentist that I have ever been to . I am so sorry that I subjected myself to this type of maltreatment just because the location was convenient. read more
