Two campground employees noticed our struggle and stopped to help. They had the tools to loosen the lug nuts and then stayed to help us finish changing the tire. Couldn't have done it without their help!

Like the name Railside RV Ranch says it is right off the railroad so you will hear trains, however, I have not encountered any campgrounds that are right on Route 66 but do not align with the railroad. It's definitely part of the history of old Route 66. A lot of history in this town and fun things to do and just a 45 minute drive to the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, we couldn't have a fire due to fire restrictions. However, we were able to bring our own gas-powered fire pit. I'm glad my husband checked the website a few days prior to our reservation, otherwise we wouldn't have known. It would be nice to get informed by email if you have a reservation about fire restrictions, because if we didn't bring our blackstone to make our food, I would have been very upset. Before arriving, I did some research on the black bear shack that our friends told us about, but sadly found out they are not at this campground anymore. The road coming in is extremely bumpy and rough. When leaving the campground, I recommend going left instead of right. Our cars needed a very good car wash after! The campground is very beautiful. The weather was perfect; in the 50s at night and high 70s in the afternoon. I would definitely camp here again.

They threw a burning log out of their pit at one point & just watched it burn out. There are large active wildfires near flagstaff, it would be nice if camp hosts would intervene for safety. The most frustrating inconsiderate campers ruin peace and enjoyment for everyone. I just watched one of the sites pack up and leave minutes ago because of the noise. There is another site on the other side of the campground with loud music and bass playing. It 11:49 at night. To my understanding quiet hours begin at 10? Idk I don't recommend if you enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors, however if you are looking to tailgate, you've come to the right place.

The turn of events last min was they where charging for every one to try the chilis which means they where making money off your own food. As a competitor you could even taste your own food and vote which I thought was odd.Then it gets really suspicious because let's say your a family of 10 well it's not competition if your family votes for you and your friends. I was looking to a fair competition for it to be like 3 to 5 judges and it being legit a contest where no one knows anyone. But tasting all the chilis they were very all different but I still felt mine still stood out and told myself it's a hands down piece of cake. Then the winner got called it was a 8 year old little girl which weirdly they where surrounding her already like they knew it was her and with a huge family behind her like come on now seriously. One, isnt there a 18 or older not being a poor sport. It obviously wasn't a taste completion it was a popularity contest which if that's the case and I would have known this I would have not entered. Two I heard some people that worked there or workers knew people who cooked their chili's. Thirdly why supply free food for the KOA to make $5 a plate off you and also disappointed there wasn't any left! It's like I didn't even get a bowl of my own food what a waste. Its like they didn't even name 2nd or 3 rd they could of easily given a $20 gift card or even a free night stay come on you make money off us this is what we all get. This pisses me off enough not want to come back. This was a pretty pricey little spot $254 for two night total with tax but they do got their amenities I guess still pricey though. I think next time we go to Yogi in Zion just because there amenities where better & it was cheaper. You do it once that's kinda how I felt

There is no grass within walking distance for a dog, Do NOT use the dog boarding. Upon arriving to pick up my dog, he had no access to the outdoors and his water bowl was completely empty. She said that she had just cleaned and shut his outside access "10 minutes ago". We were several hours early to pick him up, so what if we had waited?! I wish I could review this separately, but don't see it listed on here, so at least I can try and let others know on here.

I would recommend…read morepurchasing tickets online and you also have to purchase a general admission ticket - total was ~$125/person with fees and taxes. Although it was expensive, it was worth it in our opinion. You get to meet a couple animals behind the scene - they are very adorable and you get to interact with them. Our tour guide and bus driver, Damian, was very knowledgeable about the animals. We went on a Sunday morning and our bus only had 20 people or so. The tour was about 1.5 hours and you get a complimentary drink either before or after the tour. The walk through portion is small and it took us about 1.5-2 hours to go through everything, but you could definitely spend more time. There are shows throughout the day. FYI- There are no re-entries once you leave Bearizona. You can go through the drive thru as many times as you want, and this portion allows dogs. However, the walk thru portion does not, so I would either plan to leave your dogs at home, in your car if it is climate controlled, or take turns with family watching the dogs.

Despite the long time away, this is a spot I have recommended so many times over the years to those traveling through AZ, particularly with kids. It was cool to see how the place has updated over time. We arrived shortly after opening and started with the drive thru area. Either they no longer to the guided tour through the radio or the staff forgot to mention it, but we had a fun time regardless looking for the animals in each section. The arctic wolves were the coolest part, they were all howling together, it was almost spooky. The bears themselves were less active than previous visit but it was also warmer weather, being summer. The walk through area seems greatly increased since my last visit! Several enclosures to view, a grassy area with scheduled animal talks/demos, and multiple food/drink options have been added - or at least I was less aware of them before. I grabbed coffee at a truck, they also had various alcoholic drinks for parents and snacks for kids. There's also a beer garden area, several booths with carnival-like food tempting the kids with sugary snacks, and a restaurant in the main lodge building - note that you can dine in the canyon OR they have covered outside patio seating with a view to the big cats enclosure. While we did not eat here, we did interact with several staff who were friendly and helpful about giving directions or answering questions about the animals. There are also several photo opp spots throughout, which is a nice touch. TLDR: Make time to stop here if you're driving through AZ, especially if you have kids - but even adults will enjoy a visit here.

DO NOT STAY HERE -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more I would strongly encourage anyone considering staying at this location to think twice. Our experience was extremely frustrating from the moment we arrived. Only 40 minutes before our scheduled check-in, we received a message from the host stating that we were being moved from Caboose #1 to Caboose #2. We had booked Caboose #1 two weeks in advance, had our confirmation documents, and knew that the unit we reserved was available when we booked. When we arrived at the front office at the official 3 PM check-in time, we expected the situation to be handled professionally. Instead, the host was extremely unwilling to take responsibility and immediately blamed Airbnb for the "double booking." We explained that this was not an Airbnb issue -- we had reserved a specific caboose and were being informed last minute that it was no longer available. We requested a refund because we were not receiving the accommodation we paid for. The host repeatedly stated that she "didn't know how to do refunds" and acted as though getting approval from a manager was a major obstacle. She then told us she could refund us, but if we wanted to stay we would need to pay for another cabin. We explained that this was not acceptable -- the mistake was made on their end, and it was their responsibility to make it right. Instead of acknowledging the inconvenience, the host repeatedly told me I was being "rude" and that I needed to be kinder because she was "being honest" and "trying her best." Being told the truth 40 minutes before arrival does not make the situation acceptable. If we had been informed even a week earlier, we would have canceled and found another place to stay. She also claimed Caboose #1 and Caboose #2 were identical, which was simply not true. They have different scenery, different views, and the photos shown online clearly represented a different experience than what we received. After a lot of back and forth, she finally processed our refund and gave us a key to Caboose #2 for us to see if we still wanted to stay. Unfortunately, the condition of Caboose #2 confirmed our concerns: * The smell was awful * The AC did not cool the back of the caboose * The toilet barely flushed unless you held the handle down * The windows did not work * The patio was locked and unusable * The pool was closed We immediately returned the key and decided to stay elsewhere. Only then did the host finally apologize and offer for us to look at another "cozy cabin," which we declined. She then gave us a paper with a name and number and offered 50% off Caboose #1 "next time," but after this experience, we have no interest in returning. Overall, the biggest issue was not just the accommodation -- it was the complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and willingness to fix the situation. We felt dismissed, blamed, and treated as though we were the problem for expecting the reservation we paid for. We have also filed a report with Airbnb. Please reconsider staying here. A last-minute change, poor communication, and lack of customer service made this an extremely disappointing experience.

For the price, I expected the accommodations to be much more comfortable and better maintained. The campground itself also felt boring, especially for families with children. There was not much to do, the on-site store was overpriced, and some of the basic amenities were disappointing. The Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable, the sites felt too close together, and the nearby highway noise took away from the outdoor camping feel. Cleanliness and management also seemed to be an issue. Bathrooms and facilities should be checked and cleaned regularly, especially with the number of employees around. Instead, it felt like things were being overlooked. For a KOA, I expected better organization, better communication, and better attention to guests. The staff who were friendly deserve credit, but management needs serious improvement. At this price point, guests should not be uncomfortable, bored, dealing with poor maintenance, or feeling like basic issues are being ignored. Overall, there are a few good things here, but not enough for me to recommend it or want to stay again.

Maybe that's a good thing, since the peacefulness is one of the attractions. You really get a good sense of place when visiting. The Kaibab National forest covers 1.6 million acres, from canyons to prairies and mountain peaks. There are three sections: the North Kaibab Ranger District (north of Grand Canyon National Park), the Tusayan Ranger District (south of Grand Canyon National Park), and the Williams Ranger District. There are several visitor centers that have information about the area and things to do. Some of the national forest is scarred by forest fire, but new plant life is colonizing those areas again.
