We were here for the Christmas Eve dinner with our friends. It was such a quiet evening. We reserved a table of 4 by the window with a booster seat. My friend has a membership with them which all our drinks could be auto upgraded to super size. And most of the dishes could be discounted 10% off, except the sets. We got 2 dishes of Iron Pan Beef with noodles, Iron Pan Chicken with rice, a set of salted chicken with a drink (I picked the Oolong milk tea cold drink no ice less sugar) and a set of wine chicken. My friend also ordered an extra drink (sesame hot drink). After we ordered our food, the manager gave us a Santa balloon to my baby. So cute. And my little loved it so much. The drinks came fast, and it is really a super size. Good for 2 ppl to drink it together. My cold drink no ice and less sugar was fantastic, that's what I liked the temperature and sugar level. Perfect! The food came after the drinks. We got our pictures and then started eating them. Size of each dish was just right to our family, and they were all tasty. We really enjoyed the night, the meals, the service, and it was not loud not crowded the whole night. I only knew it was a place to drink tea, but I didn't know it was restaurant before. What do you do when you're a fan of the franchise, like the drinks and the food, but you get the crappiest service ever? What's the fine balance between? Listen, I give a lot of grace to servers because I know they probably have some kind of sad story, they've worked very hard all day, they have a hard job, and they've probably dealt with a bunch of bad customers. But when a smiling, friendly, courteous customer comes your way and you treat them like crap, it's a deal-breaker. The crappy service honestly did not make the decent meal worth it. For that price, I could get treated badly anywhere. We'll post pics anyway, but I sure hope things look up the next time I come back to try and give it another chance. I love taiwanese food especially popcorn chicken. When I saw that it was Wednesday's special, I literally jumped and didn't even check the price before ordering lol For the special, there were 10(?) free drink options so we picked the 913 oolong tea but I must say it was very sweet. For the sizzling plate, you get to choose two types of noodles or rice, so we got rice. The tenderloin was so soft and juicy like butter melting in your mouth! Popcorn chicken daily combo - $16.50 Beef tenderloin - $23.50 Service was really quick and it wasn't too busy. The restaurant itself is spacious, but not as big as Times Avenue. It aimed at a more mature audience than bubble tea's. So we arrived this evening, ordered its famous Chinese tea in the glass pot, filled it with herbs and dried dragon eyes and floral. I must say it was really enjoyable, really sweet with natural flavor, and so extremely fragrant. And I got to sit down and chat for an hour. It tasted as if someone had bathed some sesame seeds for the briefest amount of time possible and then they decided to pour milk into said bath water to give the impression that what they were handing me, was in fact, a sesame milk tea. The main problem with what they tried to execute is that I actually have working tastebuds.... I know, I know. I should have brought this to the attention of one of the staff members but to be frank, none of them came to check up on us during the meal. I decided I'd just take it home and try to salvage it. Tea places have being cropping up in the neighborhood at an amazing pace, and for a nice snack, Tea Ren certainly ranks among the top. Agreeing with some of the other reviews, the higher price point is likely need to pay for the lease and overhead, but for about $20 or so plus tip, you can. Get a shareable and a few teas. The chicken leg business set with noodles - the chicken leg had a nice crispy grilled skin. The noodles were nice and chewy. For the "combo" they give you a tea egg and some veggies. For the noodles, felt like they skimped on the veggies. 2. The fried chicken nuggets with rice - average Taiwanese meal. Meh. 3. The sesame almond milk tea with pearls - should have just named it sesame in cloudy water (with little to no almond taste). The drink was bland at best. There are 2 options for the rice bowls which are braised chicken in coconut sauce with rice and braised beef in oyster sauce. I really enjoyed the coconut sauce of the braised chicken rice bowl. For the braised beef rice bowl, I love how soft the beef were. Ten Ren's Tea newest location in Richmond Hill. Menu is similar to any other location so if you been to one of them, you know what to expect. A lot smaller than the location at Hwy 7 and Bayview. Tables are really packed together and you can hear everyone conversations doesn't matter where you sit. Noise level is deafening with the pop music, blender, water running, dishwashing from the open kitchen. And the place wasn't busy at all when I dropped by during soft opening. Very mediocre and not worth the price you're paying for. TenRens is a great place to sit down and study or chat. Be prepared to pay a lot though! I got the spicy beef noodle, the flavouring was pretty good and tasted like regular beef noodles but, there are better places with more of an original flavour. Some of the beef had big blocks of fat attached but that was ok since many people have different preferences. With any food purchase, you also get the option of buying a drink for $3 off. I got the strawberry banana signature with tapioca and I asked for HALF sugar. Although the lady taking our orders was extremely nice, the other lady that brought over our drink seemed careless and did not seem to care about my sugar option - my friend and I got the same drink so they probably just blended it in mass. The drink also seems to have an apple juice base as the sweetness overpowered a lot of the strawberry. Overall, the tapioca was chewy and perfect but they only have tapioca at 12PM (which I find pretty odd). This is a good place to visit if you need a spacious space to catch up with friends at. We came here as a group of three and ordered a regular milk tea, taro milk tea, and ginger logan tea. You have the option of customizing the sugar and ice level of your drink though it's not explicitly advertised. I noticed for my bubble tea the bubbles were a bit hard to chew in comparison to some of the other bubble tea places that I have tried. Their brewed teas were fairly good though and you get a little teapot to store your drink. It took a while to place our orders but the drinks were prepared fairly quickly. I do enjoy the tea here; however I find the service to be disappointing. On one occasion my friend and I went and though there were few people there, we were not given much attention and had to wait a long time to be served - even then we had to call the server ourselves! It's great for sharing among 2-4 people, however, once you get to the end it's just plain ice (hence, I prefer bingsu.) - Their fruit teas are delicious and fragant but overpriced for its small portion. - Takoyakis were very hot and burned my mouth despite letting it sit for quite a few minutes. That was a shame because I imagined it would have tasted good. Would not get again because of this and its high price for only 6 balls. - For the bbt and slush, it's definitely on the pricer side, but their tapioca is almost always nice and chewy. Ten Ren is one of the earliest Taiwanese restaurants that was introduced into Canada. In recent years their specialty is adding the tea aroma into their dishes. My visit tonight was very disappointing. We ordered a Sausage Minced Pork Rice (茶香香腸肉燥飯）, a Minced Pork Dry Noodle （茶香擔仔麵), a boiled vegetable with Minced Pork （肉燥燙青菜）and a Deep Fried Squid Balls （炸花枝丸）plus two large iced teas. First of all, the tables weren't full and they had two servers on the floor and two bartenders / baristas making drinks. The server came promptly to take our orders. When I ordered in Mandarin, the server replied in English asking details on my order. First of all, it is a manner and etiquette that you reply in the language I speak to you in, unless you don't understand the language. Which you can kindly tell me. However she did not do so. Secondly, our food took at least over 20 min to arrive at the table. This is not because the kitchen couldn't put out food fast enough, it is because the server choose to ignore to put food onto our table simply because that table wasn't the table she took orders. It wasn't until I asked that why the food was out for at least 10 min and no one took it to our table then she apologized and took it to us. Thirdly, when the food arrived, not only was the food lukewarm, but the specialty was no specialty at all! The tea aroma was not there in any of the tea dishes we ordered. The noodle content was only 1/3 of the bowl and it charged me $9.99! Our total bill came out to be a little over $51 tax included. Ten Ren is a brand that brings childhood memories and this unpleasant experience totally ruined my childhood memories! I believe this is the last time that I will go there. This ten ren's is very clean and the service is super friendly. They sit you as soon as they can and they come over as soon as you wave your hand in the air. That's enough to ask for. They have so many different drinks, although they are super pricey! My favourite are the horoscope drinks, they're all so good and worth the money. I also love the mango flavoured drinks, not sure if they use real mango or not but it sure tastes like it. The food here is not as worth it, there is not a lot of flavour but it's pretty expensive for what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend going here for food. read more

Had a Mint Chocolate milk tea with egg pudding and a mixed fruit with green tea ice cream waffle here and both were not bad. Although I wouldn't suggest ever to mix egg pudding with the mint chocolate drink as the flavours did not compliment each other well hahaha! This Ten Ren's is very clean but the service is a bit slow. I went for lunch and the shop was not busy but we had to wave down the waiter multiple times in order to get our orders taken. Asides from that, it is a very cozy environment filled with various types of drinks and snacks. They have a good variety of tea flavours which you can get in either hot or cold as well as slushy based drinks. My personal favourites are the drinks which come with ice cream in it (you can find that under their horoscope section). Finished the drink but left the egg pudding to show my displeasure...hehe Also got the green tea ice cream + shaved ice with red bean and condensed milk for $6.99. I love this Ten Ren's, it has great food and drinks. The drinks are a little more pricey than your average bubble tea place, so I only ever come here for meals so I can get the drink + meal combo. Compared to other ten ren's, its quieter and less spacious. Anyway, my favourite drink has to be the black sugar/mango/strawberry slush series! The mango one is the most flavourful, and I love how you can choose two add ons for this drink (I usually go with pudding and grass jelly) The food is great too, love the braised beef soup noodles and their takoyakis! However, for the mango shaved ice though, the mangos they topped the ice with weren't very sweet. Came to this location for the first time yesterday and came again today. Yesterday my friends and I ordered a mango slush with tapioca, two taro slushes, one with tapioca. All of the drinks came very fast and were delicious! They actually use real taro here! They have my favourite tapioca here because they have a great texture firm but a little gooey, and they taste great too. Today I came with my boyfriend and we ate in. We ordered two Monday special mango slush with tapioca, he ordered the minced pork with rice and I ordered the green tea egg roll with cheese. I was a little surprised because I thought the egg roll would be you know, an egg roll. Instead it was a rolled up pastry with egg, cheese and a sweet red sauce inside. My boyfriend also thought his pork dish was quite good, just a little fatty. The service was slower than it was yesterday and not as friendly, but it was okay. Ten Ren's is a cool place for lunch. The interior is nice and well decorated. They have daily deals with specials. None of their items are spectacular, but they are decent. The meals are definitely prepared in advance, with some of the dishes coming out lukewarm. I have also seen them use the microwave. The drinks are mostly good, which justifies the higher than average price. There are also 2 good alternatives for bubble tea across the street. I like the Sausage Minced Pork Rice. I frequent many Ten Ren locations in LA (I was here in town visiting family) and this one missed the mark on so many points. The minced pork on rice barely had any pork on it and there wasnt enough sauce to use over the rice. My hot milk tea was also very watered down and there was no tea flavor. So I have been here like at least a trillion times ( because my brother refuses to go anywhere else since there isn't wifi ..) and all I gotta say is "it's a no for me." I have ordered a variety of different things from their menu and honestly speaking .. everything tastes pretty much the same. Also, their service is pretty slow, the prices are stupidly expensive for what you get and oh god their desserts. I ordered a cupcake once and it was not soft and fluffy. One good thing about Ten Rens is their drinks. That's about it.
