Ten Belles is a super cute coffee shop in the 10th arrondissement not far from Canal St. Martin. While small, the space is well used so there is plenty of seating behind the coffee bar, off to the side of the coffee bar, above on a small first floor, and a couple tables outside. I opted for a table upstairs. I'm fairly short, so the low ceilings didn't bother me, but perhaps if you're a tall person, you might want to opt for a seat on the ground floor. Some people were working remote here, while others were enjoying a coffee with a friend. Ten Belles also has an assortment of pastries and sandwiches for those who want something to eat making this a great option for those who want to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Cute little American/Australian coffee shop catering largely to an Anglophone crowd. You can get your flat white or Americano here, drinks that are hard to come by in traditional Parisian cafes. There are also a handful of pastries on offer if you're feeling peckish. I had an Americano and a sausage roll; both were great. The sausage roll was flaky and came with a tart HP-esque dipping sauce, and the staff were kind enough to warm it up for me. Docking a star, however, because the cafe doesn't have decaf. What sort of coffee shop doesn't have decaf?! The inside is bright and airy, albeit small, and a few tables spill out onto the sidewalk where it's perfect to people-watch on clear days. They clearly take their coffee seriously here, making it a great stop for a cuppa - if you take your coffee avec caffeine. read more

It attracts a notable Anglophone crowd, and it offers plenty of choices of cakes and coffees for an afternoon break. I really enjoyed my slice of lemon cake (tart and generous with the icing) and chai latte (well-spiced and rich). This is my favorite cup of coffee in the world. I loved getting the cafe creme here every weekend when I lived in Paris. This is where I learned to appreciate coffee without sugar. I have been in and around this shop before as I frequent the area for food and recreation. The only "hazard" if you are a native English speaker is the high number of English speakers who frequent the place. I say "hazard" only if you're in there to work or read, as the quiet hum of French that you could normally tune out (because you'd actually have to pay attention to eavesdrop) you'll hear the roar of your native language dropping bits of everyone's conversation into your novel or studies or work. Also, no wifi here. So - best bet - come here with a few friends for coffee and a small breakfast. That's what the seating and smiley service seems best oriented towards. read more

After reading reviews on how the coffee here should be really good, my cousin & I decided to head on over to 10 Belles. Unfortunately, I forgot that the place is known for their coffee, according to websites like Hip Paris & Timeout (I had a bunch of cafes pinned in my City Maps 2GO). Ugh. I said, "Je voudrais chocolat chaud......" & ordered this dessert thing sitting on the counter. The guy said that this was "coffee cake, without the coffee".. OK....... That cost around €3. My cousin said it was "OK", & "Was it worth €3? ....probably not".. At one point all these girls started coming in, & there were 10 belles in.........10 Belles... This review won't be very helpful, because I didn't order Ten Belles' supposedly super fantastic coffee. Best place for coffee in Paris. The French are so obsessed and meticulous in all things, including their food, but they seriously are neglectful of their coffee. They seem to be happy with their "noisettes", bitter watered down macchiatos that look like and taste like brackish water. My wife and I have enjoyed the coffee here and I really don't have much to add to the bevy of positive reviews on this page. But I wanted to share an anecdote that speaks to the service and friendliness of the owner and staff. On a Sunday night in November 2014, my ipod nano slipped behind the cracks of the seat fixtures and out of reach. Because these benches were nailed to the wall, there was no way the staff could help me recover it. They asked me to leave my name and number, and promised to speak to the owner, Frank, about it. Over the course of December and January, my wife and I spoke to Frank on separate occasions, and it was decided that we would have to come in to identify exactly where the device fell. Unfortunately, my wife was back in Canada December and January, and with work, I couldn't find time to come to the store during the week, when Frank is in. Fast forward to February 2015, 2+ months later, and at this point I've sort of given up on getting my ipod back, but nevertheless my wife comes into the store. The staff told her Frank was upstairs eating lunch. My wife introduced herself for the first time in person and he remembered the situation, and got up in the middle of his lunch and came down to the benches to see what he could do. My wife told him where the ipod fell, and although he could not see it from the top down, he opened up the wooden benches from the inside, got down on all fours, and possibly did some damage to his own wooden planks in order to open up a hole. Using his phone flash light, he was able to see the phone underneath some ventilation, and reached out to get my ipod back. Incredible. Absolutely Frank went the extra mile, and I couldn't be more thankful. I've come to expect very little from French service, but this was above and beyond, on any standard North American or otherwise. surprisingly, paris is not known for gourmet coffee. many are used to classic espresso at cafes. we heard about ten belles through noble coffee back in london. ten belles is a bit off the beaten path...closer to the 18th arr. you'll DEFINITELY pass by it if you don't look for it. it's set up as a window with no clear signs. we got their latte .. which comes in a small cup (not like us americans who want everything large!). coffee was well done, smooth but bold ... almost spicy flavor and a nice foam. very complex. it is definitely not for everyone, but we did appreciate the craft. small space - suggest for take away and walk to the parc buttes nearby (~.8 mi) read more

I just love Ten Belles. The staff is so friendly and their snacks and coffee is delicious. It's located in a wonderful area, so it's the perfect rest stop after a stroll along the canal. Sometimes it's packed (obviously because of their awesomeness and kindness), but if you can find a random time to go and park with a good book, it's a great relax session. Good service, good food, good brownie, baked goods. The coffee was excellent. We could see the brownie being baked downstairs before they served it. The brownies are actually made with Valrhona chocolate (guanaja 70%) It is surprisingly hard in Paris to find a place to sit down, have a coffee, and eat a good cake or Danish with it. Most bakeries don't have table to sit. Most 'cafés' have bad coffee and don't really have much to offer to eat with it. This place fulfills that need exactly, with good products. read more

I really love Ten Belles. I past by this place but it was filled with people and there were no spots left. It is a very popular place in a very popular neighborhood, near Canal st. Martin and I remember that everybody talked about Ten Belles when they just opened (same like it is now with Holy Belly ;)). Since there were not spots left that day, I tried again another day and fortunately now there was a table upstairs were I could have breakfast with my love. I had a delicious and good quality coffee (cappuccino) and a Benny bar, which tasted very good. I also tried a bite of delicious banana bread. The girl at the counter was very friendly and was, I think, not French since she spoke English like it was her mother tongue. The café looks very cute as well, which a big coffee cup light sign on the wall and all the little tables. The pastries all looks good an the counter and I wished I tried more but that would have been too much for me haha. I recommend this place very much if you are in the neighberhood! read more

Despite the immoral information sharing, thank you Google! This place came up on a blog posting when I searched "specialty coffee in Paris." Awesome location just up from the canal. Everyone in the place was speaking English, despite being native French-speakers, which was interesting. The vibe of the place was almost that of a chic, beach-side coffee spot in San Diego. Killer espresso pull--not sure of the roaster, although I would imagine they're Parisian; tasted of robust, ripe cherries with a subtle bitter cocoa finish. Peanut butter brownie was the perfect pre-brunch snack. I'm sure if you spend a bit of time here alone a great short story or poem will become of the visit. Ten Belles, only a few steps from Canal Saint-Martin around the 10th and 11th arrrondissement is perhaps one of the nicest coffee shops in Paris. It's possibly also one of the tiniest. On my final day in Paris on my way to Gare du Nord in the 10th arrondissement, I decided to walk along Canal Saint-Martin and stop at Ten Belles. Now, I was a bit disappointed by the canal, I think the bit North of Ten Belles seems nicer than the bit South of it. However, the walk was definitely worth it, because Ten Belles is a very nice little coffee shop - and I even bumped into the barista of a other Paris coffee shop I talked to on my first day in the city. A let down for the tourist, they do not have wifi - no problem for me, as I had gotten myself a SIM card immediately after I arrived in Paris. On the other hand, good for the tourist perhaps, the place seemed to be popular with expats or foreign students, so you can easily order your coffee in English - as almost everywhere in Paris. Ten Belles serves great coffee and I also enjoyed their homemade iced tea on this pretty and sunny summer Monday. If I would live in Paris, I'm sure Ten Belles would be one of the places I would visit regularly - staff are really friendly and it is just a beautiful little spot. read more

For our first brunch in Paris, my wife and I stopped by Ten Belles after reading rave reviews of its hipster quality. Although the chic design of the simple coffee shop was cool, what won me over was the service. When in France, there can be all sorts of miscommunications for an American who only knows bonjour. The barista thought I'd ordered one thing, but I really had ordered something else and she apologized and gave me what I ordered for free. It meant so much to us, and we'll definitely be going back. Wow, wow, wow! One of the best macchiatos I have ever had in my life. The barista made my drink carefully and thoughtfully and it really showed in the quality of the taste. And I can't leave a message without mentioning how kind and welcoming the staff is. In fact, I accidentally bumped into the barista as he was bringing a cup of coffee to another client. This place was recommended by the owner of the apartment we were renting in Paris. She described it as one of the few "serious coffee places" in Paris. What I didn't really realize is that Europeans are pretty much ok with instant coffee and aren't coffee snobs like a lot of us Americans It's so cozy inside! And the location is great - right near the canal in the Marais neighborhood. The barista was super cute and charming. The atmosphere was relaxing and congenial and the coffee was great. Excellent coffee - I didn't get a chance to get any food because I arrived 45mins before closing on a Sunday, but even so, the staff were friendly and the coffee... Oh the coffee!! Delicious!! Frothed perfectly and rich in flavor! Yum yum yum! Only problem was there wasn't enough!! I slowly sipped at my cappuccino and tried so hard to make it last.. If the cup was a little bigger I think I'd be back here every week, but 4€ for what's considered a "small" in Australia is a little out of my weekly budget...
