When my friend told me that this place was a BYO and minimum spend was 20 pounds a person, I did not expect something this classy. It's right by the waterfront by West India Quay station and has a great outdoors area, perfect for sitting outside but under a covering on a nice summer's evening. I've heard that it's crazy busy on Thursday and Friday nights, but on a Saturday, we didn't even have to book for a party of 4, and were seated right away around 7:30 pm. The shisha is about 15 pounds for 2 people, and you have to have 1 for every 2 people. They also have these ice extensions that I'd never seen before, for an extra 2 pounds. They didn't add much to the experience, but were cool for the novelty.
As for the food, they have a great selection of Lebanese/Indian food. First we got the vegetarian mixed meze, which says that it serves 2, but is more than enough for 3 or 4 people. It's ok, but nothing stellar. But my friend could not stop raving about Farruj Meshwi, which is a grilled baby chicken that comes with the most amazing garlic sauce. I was definitely impressed. As our other main to share between 3 people, we got the mixed biryani, but I was disappointed, as it was more like rice with some sauce stirred into it instead of the oily fried rice type of biryani that I grew to love when I was in India. So you're probably better off sticking to the Lebanese stuff.
Overall, food was decent, but that's not what you're coming for. It's a killer venue with a great BYO policy and it just so happens to be cheap too. It was honestly hard to spend 20 pounds per head... maybe if you order 1 main per person, but there was just so much food as well! I wish London had more BYOs like this... in any case, definitely worth the trek out to Canary Wharf, and a neighborhood gem for those who work or live there! read more
