My convection wall oven needed a new bottom element. My husband purchased a new one and arranged for this company to put it in. What I learned should have been a simple install by removing the 4 bolts holding the back plate on over the fan, and pulling the wires through that fed power to the element, connecting the new one after removing the old one, pushing the wires back through the back wall, and then replacing the plate with its four bolts turned into our having to call someone else to complete the job, which is not yet done, relative to the need for a new control panel.
Elijah, the owner of the company and equipped with a self- professed 10 years of experience, came to do the job. He began the work, I left the room, and when I returned he had removed my oven from the wall and placed it on the floor. I was pretty surprised by this, but he was the guy with experience doing this, not me. For what seemed like a very long, protracted amount of time, he was in my kitchen with my oven on the floor doing lord-knows-what. He did explain that my cook top and oven wiring were run to the same box. Okay, I acknowledged. He did exchange some friendly banter with me and my family. My husband arrived home from work and Eli told him that sometimes it was easier to take the oven out of the wall when my husband asked him about it. Then he lifted the oven and asked my husband to feed the conduit through the hole in the base of the opening. Meanwhile, he struggled to hold the oven, so I helped him hold it. The conduit was not fully fed through, and I mentioned that, but Eli pushed it in anyway and began connecting wires at the box... note, he removed ALL of the wires in the box. Then he puzzled over their reconnection. I left this scenario to my husband, who observed Eli go to our breaker box after connecting the wires. The breaker tripped.
When I came back to the kitchen, Eli was gone. THAT was when I found out that not only did we not have a working oven, but our stove was rendered unusable as well.
He left telling my husband he had to get parts. Any calls my husband or I made to his company were unanswered or routed to voicemail, and there was no return call made. We called two days later from a different number from a completely different phone and his wife answered and volunteered him up for that day between 1600 and 1700 hours. Hmmm. He knew there was a young child and an octogenarian in my home, but left us in a lurch.
We followed up with help of our friend who went to electrician school and ultimately an appliance installer, who found that we now need a control panel. Our control panel worked just fine before Eli arrived. Our oven is from 1995. We are hoping to find that control panel, or we will be forced to buy a new oven.
The four star rating this company has through this site is puzzling and disturbing at best. They made a simply solved problem into a huge problem. If I could rate this experience with a zero, I would. Steer clear. I can say the only good things about this scenario are that we don't pay until the work is complete and that he is gone. read more
