I have been coming to the stampede since I was 18! I love this place the Bartenders are cool..my favorite person is thier DJ KERMIE, when he is not around these others just don't prepare...his sets are amazing and he knows how to get the crowd going when he isn't there it's just not the same! The music is always on point he plays the best songs out there,great with requests and also some flashbacks from the past,he knows when to hype up the crowd at just the right time! He also joins in and not many djs put as much love and passion as he does! Definitely recommend to all my friends this is the place to be on the weekends! read more

Used to go every Thursday with a group of friends and some Saturdays. So much line dancing and fun! Went last week and saw the new look as I hadn't been in a while. "Freestyle hour" that they used to do turned into freestyle NIGHT. Hardly any line dancing songs anymore. I was there for hours and maybe did 5 line dances, and two of them were the same dance. I went with friends who have gone for years as well and the first thing we noticed was how the whole dance floor was jam packed and looked like a high school dance with people grinding all over each other. Now I'm not a prude, but this is so unfortunate because we loved the way it was before. I've seen the responses that it's a country bar until 8pm and changes after, but that means it's only line dancing for 2 hours, and then just a club after that? Really unfortunate. 95% of my friends have already said they won't waste their money there anymore. I'm only giving two stars because one of the bartenders from before the change replaced my drink for me because I noticed some guys lingering by my drink while I was dancing close by. read more

I was here sometime in January. In fact, I stayed in Temecula for a night just to come to this place. Yes, I got a hotel in this town when I could have gone to more exotic locales such as San Diego or Las Vegas specifically to come to this place. You see, I used to be a regular at line dancing clubs in the past and I had fond memories of the Stampede. I had a few spirited line dancing sessions. We did the Crank It Up with Colt Ford, shook it to the Country Girl Shake, and I even deigned to keep the early warm up going with a slow electric slide. Basically, it was setting up to be a great night. All the old classics were there. The two steps were short and the dance floor wasn't very dense - just the way I like it. We were set to do everything but the Hokey Pokey. Then, between dance sessions, as is my custom in nightclubs, I decided to talk to a few women. Yes, I do have conversations with people at nightclubs, some of them women. Scandalous, misogynistic, lascivious, prurient, salacious, OUTRAGEOUS - I know, I know, I'm a horrible, no good, very bad person. Well, not two dance sessions in, the DJ plays "Friends in Low Places" after a very short couple of line dances. "How odd!" I think. That's the song they play at the end of the night, not at the beginning. I should have known it was a trap - no DJ just plays "Friends in Low Places" out of the blue. It's a statement; it's an omen. As I was walking off the dance floor, security came up to swarm me and demanded that I surrender my ID like an angry mob out for blood. I was led out for the crucifixion, paraded like some captive bear by a procession of security personnel. Outside, I was taken to a dark spot with all the members of the security team watching me, where I was interrogated by a short man in dark clothes with a black hat obscuring his face. The boy says to me "We got a complaint. Someone said you harassed them, so we're going to remove you from this here establishment. We want you out!" "Well, what was the nature of this harassment?" "Not telling. Tee-hee. You just have to leave." "I don't consider bland conversations with women to be harassment. But all right, it's your place. Can I get a refund? I was only here for like 20 minutes and you're kicking me out for no reason." "NO REFUNDS. And this isn't your first offense, so double NO." "But I've been out of the country for 3 years. How could there be prior complaints against me?" "Uhh, Uhh..................... Are you sure?" "I think I know where I've been, bre." Now, I know there are many people out there who take a "the bouncer is always right" approach to nightclubs. And I understand you. There are some people who behave inappropriately when drunk at nightclubs. I wasn't drunk. "Well, surely you were..." Cat-calling? No. Sexual conversations? Nope. Making obscene gestures? Too complicated. Leering? Got better things to do. Behaving rudely when rejected? Plenty of fish in the sea - no need to take such unnecessary risks. Overstaying my welcome? Wouldn't dream of it. Touching? I don't even shake hands. And I caught this kid in a lie. Unless someone remembers me from a dark, stormy night three, four, or five years ago (last time I was there) reported me to him, and then he juuust missed me... Yeah, no. He's a liar. Last but not least, I posit this question for your consideration: I'm a medium-sized Mexican male who dresses in yellow or bright green and has frequented hundreds of nightclubs all over the world, dens patronized by all races and social classes, many of which are aggressive to outsiders. If I really devoted my time to harassing women, do you think I'd still be here to tell the tale? I've been coming to stampede for the last 7 years. I think the chhnge in Dj has been nothing but a blesssing. Denny was great but he didn't want to be there and didn't really Dj he hit play. I have a love-hate relationship with this bar. When it's great, it's great. When it's not, it's really not. The DJ is different now, and they play much better music than the older one, for sure. Safety on the Dancefloor is Nonexistent I've been coming to the Stampede over five years. There are lots of reasons to go to the Stampede: the bar, darts, parties, general social stuff. But there is a really big area in there called, the dance floor. As such, most people think of it as a country 'dance' bar. Dance being the key word there. Not only that, they tout having the biggest dance floor anywhere. So, please, honor it. At every other country bar I go to (The Ranch, Montana's In Cahoots, Brandin' Iron, Renegade, and that's just local), you are politely asked to leave the dance floor if you are not actually dancing on it. You are also asked to not dance a different dance right in the middle of another dance being done by the majority. I know non-dancers or novices don't get this, but it really is basic dance etiquette 101. I have to assume the owners/shareholders of the Stampede don't dance. This is a major safety issue. Recently, a man was standing right on the dance floor drinking a beer (no one cares about drinks spilling on the floor and risking those dancing slip and fall either). My dance partner stopped, asked him to socialize on the other side of the rail off the floor and the guy freaked out, screaming there were too many rules there and to 'eff off!" he kept raising his beer at us, now refusing the leave the floor on purpose and every time we circled past him he yelled at us that we were jerks, etc. Where was security for this? Nowhere. Why did we even have to be the ones to ask this jerk to step out of the line of dance? No idea. If we had gone and asked security to do something about it they'd say it's not in their scope. Really? Stampede has been making some changes lately: some new murals, a new DJ. I'm guessing they want more revenue and are trying to step it up a bit. Here's hopeful advice: take a page from every other country dance club's playbook and have security watch both sides of the dance floor at all times, have them politely remind those not dancing to not loiter ON the dance floor and not to drink beverages on the dance floor. I'm tired of getting run into or dodging spills. Being told to eff off by some crazed, clueless jerk, with no one to stand for what is right, was the final straw. So here I am, looking for Yelp help. Seriously, please. Post signs if you're not staffed up enough. Lastly, can you please have the new DJ count off the dances? It is done EVERYWHERE ELSE. I heard it's not in his contract. Well, can you renegotiate that? Do you not notice the confusion and collisions of people not sure when to start a dance? With or without dance veterans out there, the less experienced can really mess things up. They don't mean to, but there is no dance club that does not have the DJ call out the dance. This country bar is pretty cool. It's huge inside with mechanical bull, dance floor, pool tables and numerous side bars. They don't just play country music.. the ages range. Love people watching and some dancers are awesome to watch! I will go back even if cover charge is $10 -to me it seems a bit steep - especially for the younger generation who just want a fun place to hangout! read more

I miss how it used to be. more country than ass shaking. where everyone helped all the newcomers to learn the dances while it was going on. the calling out about people who need to go off the dance floor because they don't know the dance isn't cool because then how do they learn? its said to be a country bar. but these days the dj has taken it to more of an ass shaking club and it's not the same and it's not as fun. I hope it gets taken back to how it was in the past eventually. Stampede is a great place with good, affordable drinks And friendly staff. Kim and Hillary in the back are the best. They always take care of me and make me feel like their favorite customer. For a country bar they sure play a lot of hip hop which can get old, but it definitely appeals to the crowd I suppose. Sometimes I feel like we see the same people doing the same dances every time we come so it's nice to break that up a bit. I will say, every time we come it's a mystery as if their computers will be working. Sometimes I'll be waiting up to 10-15 minutes to get my card back because ALL of the computers are frozen. The bartenders and admissions people are doing their best but in todays day and age theres not much they can do when the computers shut down. The other negative is - ITS SO HOT IN THERE! The fans aren't circulating and the AC clearly is not working or isn't sufficient for this size building. Wife and I came to the festival. What a great experience! We have never been to the stampede, but plan to go back! Blonde chick in the red hat inside by the dancefloor on Saturday was so rad. I wish I could remember her name but she makes a badass cadillac margarita and is funny as heck. The set up of the festival was well done, we did not have to wait long to get a drink, plenty of security and police officers roaming. Vibes were right at the old town music festival. If youre tourist, avoid this bar. The security acted like this was a celebrity centered bar. So quick to kick people off the dance floor if they stood for a second. This was also the weirdest line dance bar experience ever. Everyone was so rehearsed for 4+ hours, it was cult like to be honest. Line dancing to country songs? Sure. Line dancing to EDM? No. When country music wasn't playing, everyone was still forced to line dance to that song. The mechanical bull was also unsafe. When I fell, I fell on metal and hurt my back. Apparently, if you know how to do the dances before 8pm, you're not allowed on the floor before 8pm. None the less, this place is a joke. Great dance floor. DJ was ready to play as the doors opened, dancing can start right away. It started out as most clubs - old and sober, the later it gets the younger and drunker it can get. The security thankfully keeps the drinks off the dance floor for the clueless of dance etiquette! Only heard one repeated line dance in the 6 hours I was there on a Saturday night. Most of the line dance's were no more then 5 years old. Line dancers out number the couples but the way the floor is set up works for all. Surprised the dJ never called a drifter or horseshoe only cowboy cha-cha. Still ample room to dance unimpeded at midnight. Did not try any of the food, looked like bar food. Wish California had more places to dance like stampede. Would definitely go back. If you are NOT a line dancer the floor could be intimating. Stampede has always been a good time but the changes they've made lately like the new DJ have made it way better! It's not the same routine they've had for the past couple years. He plays new fresh music with the old ones mixed in and you can tell he really caters to the people because he plays all requested songs. I've been here a few times and have had the best experience. All of the staff is amazing especially Holly and Maddy who are always helpful, and the kindest people. This venue is getting worse and worse. Every employee seems absolutely miserable. It's full of underage children (18 year olds drinking in the bathroom). If you go to the first bar the drinks are great but she's so busy it takes an hour to get served. Nobody goes to the back bar because the two blonde bartenders, don't seem like they want to help anyone and make awful tasting drinks. The outside smells like cigarettes and is overcrowded because the venue doesn't have AC. So, growing up in Fallbrook, CA... a typical 'good idea' for a group of 18 year-old kids was hanging out in a cul-de-sac while slugging warm Keystone Light and listening to Sublime's 40 Ounces to Freedom on repeat through someone's beat up '92 Ford Festiva. I guess that's just what happens when a lack of inspiration meets country isolation on a Friday night. However, the one nightlife option in the area for an under-21 year old was to rub shoulders with the good ol' boys wearing cowboy boots and rimmed hats at The Stampede. You know how hipster bars in LA (and SD, lately) have mechanical bulls and cowboy nights in an attempt to be ironic and edgy? Well, Stampede has a mechanical bull... and they're neither ironic or edgy... that's just how they roll up there. Rednecks from all over Riverside and Imperial counties drive miles and miles to adorn their finest ranch-hand wear while tackling the elusive beast that awaits as soon as you enter the premises in Temecula. You won't see any tight pants or Kanye West stunner-shade-wearing wannabes here. You just see the real deal Holyfield when it comes to country living, getting hyphey on the weekend. The bar is 18+, which is great for providing those under 21 years of age with something fun to do on a weekend night. Teenagers get a big 'X' put on their hand with a Sharpie, while folks 21+ just get to walk in untouched after showing their ID. I don't think much thought went into separating the legal drinkers from the underage drinkers, as just a little soap and water separates a Shirley Temple from a Jager Blaster. I sure hope they've figured out a better system to stop kids from getting saucy, because it sure didn't impede the progress of myself or any of my friends from getting our crunk on back in the day.... After returning to The Stampede as an adult that doesn't need to take shots of Wild Turkey in the parking lot before heading inside... I couldn't believe this was a place I actually hung out at. They literally mix top-40 music with anthems to inspire massive line-dancing outbreaks. Ever heard 'Make It Rain' mixed into Garth Brooks' 'Friends in Low Places?' Well, I have... and it's just not right. For those under 21, it's a great place to hang in a bar environment and feel like an adult. I arrived at Stampede with a couple of friends after watching a movie that ended at midnight over at the local mall. I'm from out of town, and it was my understanding that this was the only bar in the area, so my friends and I headed to Stampede, thinking it'd be a cool place to chill and have a few beers before heading home. As we approached the bar at 12am or so, we noticed a bunch of people stumbling out of the bar in groups- some of them leaving in taxis. So, at first we were a bit confused as to whether or not it was even still open. A bar that closes at midnight? Weird. We pulled out our ID's to show the bouncer our ID's and received our bracelets for entry. The bouncer (this bald guy with hipster glasses) was incredibly unwelcoming, and make some snark remark about how I expected him to come to me to strap on said bracelet. Whatever. I was blown away by how huge it was. Surely this place must be doing pretty well for themselves! I don't know why I equated "large" to "excellent service," but I did. So my girl friend and I headed over to the ATM inside, because there was a big sign that said "Cash Only." Not really a fan of "cash only" bars, but didn't dwell on it. After that, we made our way over to the bar to order a few beers. Asked if they had anything on tap- none. What? We were shown a card with a pretty small selection of bottled beers and we ordered three: a Blue Moon, Guinness, and some Mexican beer. They came out to be 17 DOLLARS total. Omg. Needless to say, we weren't pleased. I could buy 2 decent cocktails for that price! Anyway, so my friends and I found seats at a table and observed the line dancing and the music for a bit. It was a bit weird because they kept going back and forth between hip hop and country. At 12:30am, they did last call, which was pretty unexpected. Looking back, I don't know if this was because it was 18+. My girl friend and I went back to the bar for one more beer each that we reluctantly paid $11 total for, and headed back to our seats. At around 12:50am, the bouncers started kicking everyone out, us included. We weren't even finished with our drinks! Also, the bouncer from before lingered around our table waiting for us to leave so that he could take our bottles as I desperately tried to finish so that we could at least get our "money's worth." All in all, it was a pretty negative experience. There weren't that many people there when we arrived because it was kind of late, so a lot of my complaints were with the establishment itself- rather than its "clientele." Also, there wasn't a cover when we arrived, since it was late. I've been to the Stampede a total of 4 times in my 10 years in Temecula/Murrieta. Each time I've been, I told myself I wouldn't go back. The place is huge with a ginormous dance floor. They have a mechanical bull. Drinks are subpar and beer selection is non-existent. Cowboys love bad beer I guess. The staff is trained to be emotionless, one-word robots. The real problem I have with this place is the clientele it attracts. Basically, meatheads, jarheads, wannabe cowboys and angry drunks. Everytime I've been, there has been drama, fights and death threats. They like to make money so they don't cut off people that have had too much. The last time I went to the Stampede, nearly 10 years ago, I suspect I was roofied by a sexy female marine in a tight, low-cut top (yes, men can get roofied, too). It was such a strange and traumatic experience that I never went back...until last weekend. I took my beautiful wife dancing from 9pm 'til dawn at the Stampede, and it was a lovely experience. I waltzed her around the dance floor until her head spun (not like the Exorcist...it was much prettier than that), and we ended up making out on the outside patio amidst the fragrant smell of unfiltered Camels until 2 am. Best part of all, my girl didn't have to roofie me to get a sexy piece of Chen, and our night ended with a bang...literally. ;) read more

Food: I thought there was no such thing as bad pizza until i came here... DO NOT order the pizza here. In fact, if you can avoid all the food, you'll be better off. Drinks: Cocktails are weak. They use those liquor bottle spouts that limit the bartenders to pouring not a fraction of an ounce more than a single shot per drink. Also any self-respecting drinker knows that using crushed ice in cocktails will guarantee a watered down drink. Dancing: They kept it fun. But we came early before the crowd and watched the line dancing class... got curious and started practicing the dance they were teaching from outside the dance floor and immediately got reprimanded over the loud speaker for "being too cheap" to pay the $3 to participate. Geez. Overall, it's a "hot spot" in a middle-of-nowhere town. Big fish in a little pond... The staff and management obviously think that they are the sh**. Driving up to the Stampede I was totally excited about going to a country bar. I mean, it sounded fun with booze, cute boys and dancing. I was even rocking a cute cowboy hat. But, noooo, that's about all the fun I had that night. Finally got there. These are my thoughts walking in: What is with this $15 cover charge?! Where are we?! We're in the middle of no where--it kinda feels like hickville!! What, it's an 18+ bar?! Are you f-ing joking me?! That pretty much ruins the whole vibe. Ok, I'll deal with it. Went to go order a drink. Was carded again...are you serious?! Doesn't the big stamp on my hand mean I'm 21+?! Whatever...I just need booze. After finding a table, we all sit down. Looking at the dancefloor (which is humoungous) I decided I'll go dance. I have enough alcohol in my system by this time to feel ok about making a fool out of myself. But, sadly I was a major fail on the dancefloor too. If you're not a pro country line dancer, well than...you better leave the dance floor. No fun here. Went back to the table...as I was hit on by 2 young marines that are clearly looking for some booty. And. They. Just. Wouldn't. Leave. Me. Alone!!! What the heck!! After 30 minutes of me trying to get rid of them...they finally got the point. This place is crawling with marines...yuck. Totally not my scene. At all. There was also two younger couples totally have a makeout scene at the table next to me. Must they have to do that in public?! Finally, we left the bar around 1am. The best part of the night was us driving home at 120 miles per hour. Pure rush of excitement. I think it's sad how that was the best part of my night...but that's how sad this place is. I went back and forth about the review for Stampede so I settled for a three star review. I just love country music and line dancing so as a result Stampede has been recommended to me many times throughout my time in San Diego. I hadn't gone until now just because it's so far away from me, but this last weekend my best friend wanted to go there for her birthday so I was excited I finally had an excuse to go! At first I was very impressed. Compared to Incahoots (my usual country bar in Mission Valley), it is huge! It also has both a mechanical bull and line dancing which is awesome. The dance floor is very roomy which is much appreciated and the drinks were actually reasonable priced compared to a lot of places. I then started to notice how young some of the people looked and remember thinking it was weird that they gave me a wrist band when the bouncer checked my ID. Turns out it's an 18 and up club. I mean, I was 18 when I was a senior in high school. Some of the girls in there looked like they were 12 and wore next to nothing. My boyfriend and I also noticed these young girls dancing nasty with men who had wristbands and were obviously way too old for them. It was just uncomfortable and weird. If it was 21 and up like a normal bar I'd definitely go back! read more

If you're into line dancing and two stepping, this is the premiere place to do it. I've been to 5 or 6 country dancing places in California, and this one trumps them all. I went on a Saturday night and the floor wasn't ever crowded because it's so damn huge. And the two-stepping area is setup as a racetrack around the line dance floor. Whoever set this place up knew what they were doing! There is also a large bar (or 3?). Walked up and thought there was a line, but the bar was so long I walked 15 feet further down and there were at least two bar tenders ready to serve. The crowd age is younger, mostly 20 somethings (which I fit into) so it was nice to not to have to protect my female friends from a bunch of old creepy guys. The only downside is the 30 minutes of rock/pop/nasty grind music they play every 2 hours to appease the non-country dancing drunkees. Quite a few of the dances are not the generic line dances you might see, but I think it's because the boring line dances were replaced with more fun ones. I just couldn't learn them in the one time I was there, though there's plenty of room to go out and attempt it, which was nice. Also, cowboy boots didn't dominate the floor like I typically see, so don't be ashamed if you're rocking your tennis shoes. The cover charge was $10 and cash-only to get in.
