She added that the store is busy now, because "all the women who shopped at Joann's and couldn't pull their heads out of a paper bag are there". I did shop at Joann's, it was five minutes from home. I also shop at Mood Fabrics, International Silk and Woolens, and Britex. Oh, and the other employee. When a customer is contemplating in front of the shears, maybe ask: do you have a specific need? I wanted to buy ribbon various color sizes and types. When I walked towards the back of the store to look at the ribbon, I was flabbergasted!!! my eyes open so wide my mouth dropped open. I had just stepped into ribbon heaven. I came away with maybe 20 different ribbons, maybe 5 yards each and $48 bill. Well worth it. I wanted various types to make ribbon book markers. I walked into Hobby Lobby today with my daughter and friend and initially felt welcomed. My daughter pointed at a Highland cow plushie, and a worker who was standing around the shelf suddenly said, "That's twenty dollars." I hadn't asked how much it was, wasn't looking at the price, and honestly wasn't even having an interaction with her. The comment caught me off guard and made me feel like I was being judged based on whether I could afford it. My daughter ended up choosing a Precious Moments plushie instead. As I was walking toward the checkout behind my friend, the same employee, while she was checking out another customer, said to me, "Are you going to pay for that?" Obviously I was walking toward the cashier because I intended to pay for it. The way it was said felt extremely rude and made me feel like I was being treated as though I was trying to steal something. What really disappointed me was that I came in happy, with my daughter, simply wanting to browse and enjoy some time together. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. There are respectful ways to assist customers or ask questions without making them feel watched, judged, or suspected of something. I understand employees have a job to do, but customer service and the way you speak to people matter. I hope management addresses this because no customer should leave a store feeling embarrassed or unwelcome when they haven't done anything wrong. This was around 4 pm. Thursday, August 27th.
