They are really good at getting everyone through as quick as possible and had over 6 people just cutting yardage. After you get your fabric cut, you go to a second line to pay, but I only waited about 2 minutes. I guess just timed it right. HINT: they have the full price fabric up by the front door. Skip that and head to the piles of fabric towards the side and back of the store. The only thing I couldn't find there was on brand fabrics like Hello Kitty and the Nightmare Before Christmas. As if their prices weren't low enough, they have a bargain area in the back of the store with even lower prices and other specialty materials like vinyl. Plenty of parking as well.

While in the area might as well check the stores. We went here specifically for fabrics. My son is into sewing right now so this place has a wide selection of different types of fabrics. They also have accessories. Are they cheaper - maybe/ maybe not but my son wanted to see fabrics so that's why we are here. He picked up some items and accessories he needs, we also got a roll of pattern paper and a yard of fabric he will use to "practice with" Service is easy - pick a fabric and bring it to the table and they'll cut it for you. Spent $80 on a bunch of stuff. Let's see if my son actually makes something out of it. He did enjoy looking and browsing over their fabrics and accessories.

I was looking all over the Fashion District with not much luck. Even Michael Levine, one of the largest fabric stores didn't carry any. I was just about to give up...until I turned the corner. City Fabric carried over 20+ faux furs! All sorts of colors to cover the entire rainbow, animals prints, and even some psychedelic prints. It's very soft and plush quality faux fur. I can't stop feeling this stuff. Prices are way reasonable. It's $15 per yard (for basic long pile solid color, prints can be more), but the length is about 5 feet long. Compared to $22 a yard at Jo-Ann's for a much smaller piece. Such a bargain. Downside is that you have to buy a minimum of 1 yard per selection. Looks like I'll be making lotta furry things haha. Parking can be a pain, and you'll end up having to spend $5, unless you get lucky with a meter for less. But the selection of fake furs is definitely worth the trip.

If you are a frequent fabric shopper you will recognize designs from well known fabric stores here. I prefer to visit this store versus battling the garment district (If it was closer to my house I would rather go here than Joann's). The warehouse is in an industrial area of LA but provides parking. I have found staff to be very helpful. I would highly recommend this place for all sewists.
