This place is better than the Mexican food in San Diego. Had to travel to midwestern Kansas to find the best Mexican food ever. Note: The waiter did me a big personal favor, altruistically, at what appeared to be the end of his shift. He didn't make that known, but I later learned. Only small town hospitality would accommodate us in such a caring manner. The food was excellent. Great salsa, chips and they even cut up an entire avocado at my request since my diet was temporarily restricted. That is in addition to a big favor that our waiter did for me, an out-of-towner. Thank you for serving my aunt, a native Kansan and long-time Southern California resident, and me. I will go back just to visit this place! Caveat: Please don't be in a rush when you are seated. The quality cuisine is well worth waiting for its superb preparation and presentation beyond anything either of us have yet to experience in bustling San Diego or Los Angeles. The waiters are merely (and courteously, may I add) busy helping customers like you, so please know they aren't being rude or anything like that. Just communicate directly with them. We were in a pretty big hurry, but this isn't a fast-food joint. Next time, I plan accordingly. I suggest you overlook any naysayer with conspicuously missing photos. This isn't Americanized but authentic Mexican cuisine. Clientele who have traveled outside of the Missouri State Fair will recognize and appreciate this high quality food. Great food, great company, fun atmosphere. TIP: A great stop on the way to or from The World's Biggest Ball of Twine. This review is all in my opinion only. Good Mexican food in Beloit! Service is quick and portions are good. We like the quesadillas.

We ordered a Burrito Granda à la carte at lunch today. We realized when we were already on the road again that we had been over charged by about $5. We called and asked how much a burrito grande à la carte was and were told $9.99 which is what we thought we were paying. Then we said we were over charged it looked like for the meal price one. He said call back at 5pm and talk to manager, which we did. He said no, the burrito alone was $13.99! So we feel he didn't want to deal with it and lied to us. With tax, he owes us about $5 we feel. Also, it was a horrible burrito with tough grizzly meat, and a green sauce that didn't taste right. But instead of taking it back and asking for something else, my husband just ate it so not to cause anybody any undo trouble plus it's hard to speak English to any of these people that work there. So we ended up eating a poor quality burrito and was over charged $5 including tax. We do not recommend this place to eat! read more

My grandparents always take me here for lunch after church on Sunday when I visit them. The food is delicious, especially the Pollo Bandido (forgive me if I spelled that incorrectly), and the portions are large enough that we always have leftovers for dinner. The staff are friendly and usually fast even with the Sunday lunch rush, too. Highly recommend. read more

I asked if I get get it sliced. the waiter that was playing with his Rubik's cube said "you have a fork, don't you?". rude people. I never saw another employee. Did I mention the staff was rude? Don't let the outside of this place fool you. Yes, it looks like a gas station or mechanic shop but it is without a doubt the Best Mexican food in the area. Out in the middle of no where Kansas great Mexican food. I had the Carne Mexicania it was delicious! Nice chips and salsa. Looks a little rough "The Hills have Eyes" from the outside, but inside it's very nice with cute colorful tables and chairs. Passed through Beloit for business and stayed at the Backyard Lodge motel across the street. Ignore the ripped sign, they will get a new one soon. The food is excellent. Their food is authentic and tastes amazing! I am a Beloit native but for more than one decade have traveled from city to city, across the United States. I had to make an emergency trip home and wanted to take my daughter out for dinner. We choose Tejavan. I ordered the Chicken Fajiata Taco Salad. It was beyond delicious! I wish I was still on town. Loved the chicken chimichanga & white cheese sauce. The have great fresh guacomole. Salsa also has a wonderful smoky flavour.

I've eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants in my life. I judge Mexican food on the margaritas, chips, salsa and guac. HOME RUN here!! Salsa is fresh, pretty sure it's made using the farm stand produce next door. The chips are thin, crispy and warm. The guac has onions, tomato, jalapeño and garlic.
