We decided to take a chance and try what looked like a very rundown gas station restaurant from the outside. It did not disappoint; inside, it was clean, light, and spacious. It was a favorite lunch spot of locals as they came in; the staff greeted many of them by name and knew their favorite drinks without them having to order. They had a large table in the back for groups, and a landscaping crew came in and they could gather in the back and have lunch together! We ordered from the lunch menu and received portions that were extremely large for lunch. I had to pack my taco up to go. Because I could not even start it, I was stuffed with the stuffed pepper. This place has very little curb appeal, but do not let that cool you off. The salsa here is wonderful. I had the Tacos Al Pastor, which I highly recommend. The portions were just right (in my opinion). The service was friendly and had a small town feel. I very much enjoyed this restaurant. read more

We're driving south from Nebraska and this is the first place I've seen with good reviews. We were about an hour away so I called in to check if they're open. It's Black Friday today so I'm not sure if they're open. A guy answered the phone with a Mexican accent - always a good sign! He said yep, they're open! We almost missed the restaurant as it looked like a gasoline station convenience store. It was by the road so a quick turnaround got us right back to it. We walked in and was greeted by a guy that looked Mexican - again, always a good thing especially when in a Mexican restaurant! It's very quaint inside. Quite a surprise actually... especially since the outside part isn't that inviting. There was a long table full of ladies laughing while drinking margaritas - yeah, at 2:30 pm on a Black Friday - another good sign! Now, let's get down to the flavors. The chips and salsa is hands down amazing. My kids are sticklers for chips at Mexican restaurants and this one they didn't have trouble munchin in. I ordered the kids meal of pizza and fries. While the kids ate the pizza (coz they're hungry), it looked like it was from a frozen pack. The same with the fries that had no flavor at all. I got the beef fajita and while it tasted good, I'm disappointed that it didn't come served on a sizzling plate. I would've liked it really HOT when served. Hubby got the lunch special - which looked like a chicken enchilada. It was a good sized serving and it tasted good as well. I have to admit, it's a strange location for a Mexican restaurant but it seems like people do go here and wouldn't mind the drive. Hands down the VERY BEST Mexican restaurant ever! The menu was the biggest I have ever seen. The staff, especially Louis and the owner, were incredibly friendly. You could tell everyone loved working there. The food was the absolute best. Priced right and the servings were huge and the taste was out of this world. VERY CLEAN AND FUN ATMOSPHERE! I am a companion to my over-the-road trucking husband. We parked 1.2 miles away at a Love's and, as truckers, once we shut down, we can't move our truck. If was so good, the 2nd day, we walked to eat there! And the owner drove us back to the truck stop out of the kindness of his heart. TRUE GENTLEMAN! Fantastic food and fantastic service! So many good options on the menu it took me a minute to decide. Finally landed on the ChoriPollo meal. Had no idea chorizo and chicken could go together so well beneath a cheese sauce. So yummy and looks like it will reheat well. Husband burrito was equally delicious. Large margaritas always a plus. A combo of chicken, steak, pork, shrimp, chorizo, onions & peppers grilled to perfection. Served with guacamole, beans, rice, pico de Gallo & choice of corn or flour tortillas. A wonderful surprise. Some of the best Mexican food in Kanasas. The enchiladas verdes was spicy, but not too spicy. The pork inside was tender, juicy and delicious. A large portion with guacamole, sour cream, cheese, rice and lettuce. I also ordered a side tamale that came smothered in beefy red sauce and cheese. It had a little more corn meal breading than I usually prefer, but the flavor more than made up for it. My girlfriend had the special, which was a grilled, spiced, chicken and shrimp covered in cheese. Served with grilled onions, peppers and tortillas. It was really good. The spice mix on the chicken was flavorful, but not spicy. We liked the salsa enough that we ordered a batch of the salsa to take it home. I eat lunch here on a regular basis and most of the time it is really good. There are a few things I avoid ordering. However, today I was very disappointed. They were pretty busy and I had to wait longer than usual to place my order. I ordered lunch 7, beef. After a longer than usual wait, my lunch was served. What I got was lunch 7 but it was chicken. AND it was overcooked. When they asked if everything was okay, I told them no and explained why. I did not have time at that point to wait for a fresh, hopefully correct order to be brought as I had to get back to work. They did not offer any other resolution, no discount, no apology. Next time they are that busy when I come in, I think I will just leave. read more
