My mother always told me to never judge a book by its cover. So when you're driving down Highway 81 and see an old gas station that's painted yellow with a parking lot full of people, you better make sure you slam on your breaks and make a stop! When you open the doors of Los Primos Mexican Restaurant you're greeted with smiles and authentic vibes. Even while being busy, the service was exceptional and very fast. Most importantly, the food itself could compete with any Mexican restaurant in the Midwest. I'm not kidding when I say this, I would drive out of my way to eat here. We will be back! read more

The food was awesome. We had the shrimp and Mexican rice bowl and it was the best I have ever had. The shrimp were huge and cooked just right. The corn and rice were a perfect compliment. I couldn't decide between that and the pork in green sauce, so the manager brought me some pork. It was great also, with a slight tangy aftertaste that was delightful. There was so much food that we ate til our stomach hurt. read more

We decided to take a chance and try what looked like a very rundown gas station restaurant from the outside. It did not disappoint; inside, it was clean, light, and spacious. It was a favorite lunch spot of locals as they came in; the staff greeted many of them by name and knew their favorite drinks without them having to order. They had a large table in the back for groups, and a landscaping crew came in and they could gather in the back and have lunch together! We ordered from the lunch menu and received portions that were extremely large for lunch. I had to pack my taco up to go. Because I could not even start it, I was stuffed with the stuffed pepper. We will be back; it was a nice change-up, fast and friendly service with good food and lunch specials starting at $8.99. read more

Good service, friendly and helpful. I had Carne Asada and it was delicious. It is standard Tex Mex and comfortable.

Wasn't expecting too much from the outside, but the service was quick, food was delicious, and atmosphere was pretty traditional. As a guy from Southern California I'd give this place two thumbs up! read more

We have had excellent service and very good food everytime we have gone here. Their margaritas are amazing and large, the food portions are more than expected and quality is worth the price. read more

This place has very little curb appeal, but do not let that cool you off. The salsa here is wonderful. I had the Tacos Al Pastor, which I highly recommend. The portions were just right (in my opinion). The service was friendly and had a small town feel. I very much enjoyed this restaurant. read more

This place is really good. Best chimichanga I have had. It was loaded with shredded beef and covered in delicious white cheese sauce. Served with a dollop of guacamole which is nice. Bonus is there is plenty of parking if you are pulling a trailer. read more

We're driving south from Nebraska and this is the first place I've seen with good reviews. We were about an hour away so I called in to check if they're open. It's Black Friday today so I'm not sure if they're open. A guy answered the phone with a Mexican accent - always a good sign! He said yep, they're open! We almost missed the restaurant as it looked like a gasoline station convenience store. It was by the road so a quick turnaround got us right back to it. We walked in and was greeted by a guy that looked Mexican - again, always a good thing especially when in a Mexican restaurant! It's very quaint inside. Quite a surprise actually... especially since the outside part isn't that inviting. There was a long table full of ladies laughing while drinking margaritas - yeah, at 2:30 pm on a Black Friday - another good sign! Now, let's get down to the flavors. The chips and salsa is hands down amazing. My kids are sticklers for chips at Mexican restaurants and this one they didn't have trouble munchin in. I ordered the kids meal of pizza and fries. While the kids ate the pizza (coz they're hungry), it looked like it was from a frozen pack. The same with the fries that had no flavor at all. I got the beef fajita and while it tasted good, I'm disappointed that it didn't come served on a sizzling plate. I would've liked it really HOT when served. Hubby got the lunch special - which looked like a chicken enchilada. It was a good sized serving and it tasted good as well. I have to admit, it's a strange location for a Mexican restaurant but it seems like people do go here and wouldn't mind the drive. It's nice to get authentic Mexican dish on what seemed like an unlikely place for it! read more

Terrible food poisoning from their fajita dish. Maybe it came from the salsa. I'd pass on this spot if you're driving through.

Hands down the VERY BEST Mexican restaurant ever! The menu was the biggest I have ever seen. The staff, especially Louis and the owner, were incredibly friendly. You could tell everyone loved working there. The food was the absolute best. Priced right and the servings were huge and the taste was out of this world. VERY CLEAN AND FUN ATMOSPHERE! I am a companion to my over-the-road trucking husband. We parked 1.2 miles away at a Love's and, as truckers, once we shut down, we can't move our truck. If was so good, the 2nd day, we walked to eat there! And the owner drove us back to the truck stop out of the kindness of his heart. TRUE GENTLEMAN! We will try to get routes through Belleville, KS from now on... and will stop here every time! Best experience and food ever! read more

First time eating Mexican food. It was amazing. Hopefully, they can make the dining area bigger soon.

Fantastic food and fantastic service! So many good options on the menu it took me a minute to decide. Finally landed on the ChoriPollo meal. Had no idea chorizo and chicken could go together so well beneath a cheese sauce. So yummy and looks like it will reheat well. Husband burrito was equally delicious. Large margaritas always a plus. Definitely a good stop to make. We drive from Wisconsin to Kansas a few times a year and will definitely make this a regular stop. Gracias por las opciones de California también. Probaré las carne asada fries el próximo vez. read more

We are traveling west on highway 36 , did a Yelp search & came upon this place. The La Parrillada fajitas were the best we have ever had & we have traveled all over the US & Canada. A combo of chicken, steak, pork, shrimp, chorizo, onions & peppers grilled to perfection. Served with guacamole, beans, rice, pico de Gallo & choice of corn or flour tortillas. The corn tortillas were fresh, hot & amazing! Lots of chips & salsa on the table as well. You won't be disappointed! read more

A wonderful surprise. Some of the best Mexican food in Kanasas. The enchiladas verdes was spicy, but not too spicy. The pork inside was tender, juicy and delicious. A large portion with guacamole, sour cream, cheese, rice and lettuce. I also ordered a side tamale that came smothered in beefy red sauce and cheese. It had a little more corn meal breading than I usually prefer, but the flavor more than made up for it. My girlfriend had the special, which was a grilled, spiced, chicken and shrimp covered in cheese. Served with grilled onions, peppers and tortillas. It was really good. The spice mix on the chicken was flavorful, but not spicy. We liked the salsa enough that we ordered a batch of the salsa to take it home. I'm definitely going to stop in again the next time I come through. read more

I eat lunch here on a regular basis and most of the time it is really good. There are a few things I avoid ordering. However, today I was very disappointed. They were pretty busy and I had to wait longer than usual to place my order. I ordered lunch 7, beef. After a longer than usual wait, my lunch was served. What I got was lunch 7 but it was chicken. AND it was overcooked. When they asked if everything was okay, I told them no and explained why. I did not have time at that point to wait for a fresh, hopefully correct order to be brought as I had to get back to work. They did not offer any other resolution, no discount, no apology. Next time they are that busy when I come in, I think I will just leave. read more
