I love their food!! Some people are quick to leave negative comments but not many will post a positive review so don't let a "negative nancy" discourage you. I am Mexican and can recognize good Authentic Mexican food. Service is great, they are quick and always friendly. ^Only bad thing I'd have to say is the salsa is too mild for my taste but everything else is good!! read more

El Purrto 1008 Burlington Ave Hastings NE We went to this restaurant based on YELP and local reviews. This restaurant really needs to actually live up to its reviews. My Food: Enchiladas, Beans and The Rice missed the mark completely. My Sons Food: Carnitas was tough and unflavorful. The beans were overly lard heavy and the rice was crunchy. Service: Satasfactory "C" Ambiance: Clean but nothing special. There were 4 servers just standing around a table chatting. Granted the place wasn't very busy but at 5pm I would think there would be something to do other than watch us and the table next to us eat. read more

Food. Very disappointed. The restaurant was spotless, and the staff was very friendly, but the food was flavorless and not very well prepared. read more

I always get their Street Tacos! All three soft corn tacos can have different meat choices, I got steak, chicken, & Al pastor! All very good. Comes with refried beans; very creamy & smooth. Service is always prompt & efficient. Will return when in Hastings. I've been to their Concordia KS location as well. Same quality. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Highly recommend. read more

Not my favorite. My margarita choices were frozen out of a machine or on the rocks from a premade bucket of neon green liquid. It was giant and cheap, but it was not good. I do not understand why places do margaritas like this. The chips and salsa were decent. The service was fast and good. I got a skillet with a ribeye and shrimp in a mushroom onion cream sauce. It was decent, but rich. Adequate I suppose. read more

We have tried this place twice. Service was great, lots of food. Flavor is bland. Sitting next to someone who was carrying on a conversation on their speaker phone did not help the atmosphere. read more

Had an amazing night on Saturday! The whole staff was super friendly even if I was a drunken idiot! They took amazing care of us and the food was top notch! I had the quesabirria on the waiter's recommendation and it was some of the best I've ever had! The margaritas are as big as your head! Gracias Amigos! read more

My Mom and I were road-tripping and we stopped for a late lunch. Sadly it was after 3pm so we couldn't do lunch specials anymore; which is totally understandable. Place is decorated very nicely and it had soft Spanish music playing. It was soothing! I got a bacon wrapped shrimp meal that was pretty good. The chorizo kind of overwhelmed the dish and I would have loved more queso to go with my plate, but the rice was delicious! I had to ask for tortillas because our waiter forgot to bring them to me. Big deal. My Mom got a combo special. I'm super sorry I don't remember exactly what it was. She enjoyed it and couldn't finish it. We were simple and did waters, so can't comment on their margarita/beer situation. Bathrooms were clean. Parking lot even clean! You pay up front at the counter and they prefer cash; my kind of place. Good, easy meal. The salsa wasn't very spicy at all, but that's good for me. I'm a baby when it comes to spice. read more

very good place to eat if you are looking for Mexican food. Service is EXTREMELY FAST do NOT order until you are ready because it'll be on your table within MINUTES! read more

I ordered cheese nachos for 7.99. I asked what was on them and the server said "tomatoes and lettuce". I was thinking it would be like normal nachos. I felt as tho it was something just thrown together. The cheese was dripping and just overall did not seem worth 7.99. Did not come with tomatoes or lettuce. I did not change what was on it i just ordered what was on the menu. I am pretty disappointed. My friends food looked good though. If you were to come here I would order anything but the nachos. :( read more

Just passing through Hastings and found this little gem. Excellent Mexican food in a fast and friendly environment. I got two chicken burritos that were absolutely delicious and only $8.50! The chips and salsa were also great. Highly recommend! read more

Favorite sit down restaurant in town! The whole place is just awesome! Also 1000% recommend trying their margaritas!

A very popular and charming Mexican restaurant. Wonderful, friendly staff and what my fiancé and I agree on, is we think it's the best Mexican food we've had in the entirety of Nebraska! If I had to criticize anything, it would be the salsa. While I believe it is made in house, it tastes like canned tomatoes. However, it is Nebraska in December. Don't miss out on this treasure a little off the beaten path! read more

Excellent poblano relleno! Appeared to be freshly prepared with shredded chicken breast, cheese and a red sauce. Tamale stuffed with chicken in red sauce covered with carne molida and a red sauce. No need for sides. My wife had a burrito that was not hot. When it returned from the kitchen it was totally new and was served with lettuce, guacamole and tomato on a separate plate. Salsa was good, but chips not as good as could be. Clean place with nice furnishings. Service was good. read more

Such a great spot in Hastings. I ordered the carnitas and they were so delicious, some of the best I've had in Nebraska. Very prompt, friendly service. Nice selection of Mexican beers. I wished the salsa was a lot spicier. Asked if they had something else for my carnitas and got a nice fiery red sauce. If you are in the mood for something other than a sports bar while in Hastings, NE check them out. Muy delicioso! read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant around here! Always prompt, curtious and food is great! Great prices too.

One of my favorite sit down Mexican restaurants, I love the chicken fajitas, service is usually fast I can go there on my lunch break and still make it back to work on time. And the price is decent too for multiple people read more

They have the take-out set up very well. Food is wonderful and big portion. The mango chicken was tender and flavorful.

Came here on a whim while in Hastings and wanted to try something new. I was a little disappointed as I felt the reviews made this place sound better than it is. The food was OK. Not bad, not great. The service was great, there were a multitude of employees always near by and they all were more than happy to help and frequently checked(maybe too frequently) to see if there was anything you needed. There were three of us and our orders came out extremely fast which led me to believe a lot of their food items must be prepped beforehand and left sitting to just warm up when needed which I'm not a fan of. Overall it was just an OK experience. read more

Meh. Not sure why this place is rated so high. My waiter was grumpy, food looked and tasted like it was microwaved, watery sauce, and bland. Alcoholic drinks are huge, but weak. read more

By far, my favorite Mexican restaurant. We moved away, but every time we come back to Hastings, we eat here!

This is the best place to eat and hangout in Hastings. The service is great and friendly. These are the best margaritas I've ever had in America. The food comes out very quickly and the salsa and warm chips are a delicious distraction while you wait. I love that they play traditional Mexican music also. It almost feels like you're on a vacation in Mexico while you're in those walls. read more

Very good food. It also comes out quicker than most other sit down eateries. The atmosphere is good with nice Hispanic music and they have televisions with sports games on. All in all a great place to eat, with good staff, prices and atmosphere. read more

Almost everything about the El Puerto Mexican Restaurant in Hastings Ne is "mediocre" . It was simply a "fine" experience. The reasons for a four star rating instead of only three stars involves the prices- very reasonable- most meals around $10. Also the portions are huge- most appetites will be satisfied. Finally $2.00 bottles of beer- including Coronas is a great deal . However everything else from the service to the atmosphere to the chips to the food is bland and average. Not blown away and only marginally pleased- probably will look for better when back in town. read more

The food is not that bad. If they could clean up the place and upgrade it a little, then it could really be great Make it more traditional.

I always get the House Special, but add another Chile Rellnos instead of a taco. I love the creamy white cheese they cover them in. Everything taste fresh & delious! Great service, always clean! read more
