My gun was shipped her within the week, this shop notified super quick. The staff walked me through the process and it was actually super easy and fast. They had a $45 transfer fee, but that was affordable. My case and gun came in in perfect condition. Staff are helpful and friendly. Shop is filled with firearms and accessories with affordable prices. I'd like to see package deals such as multiple mags and a bag for an affordable, but they don't. Staff stated that they do have a firearm with attachments, but nothing like a package deal during a holiday. Ample parking.

The selection? Great. They actually have rifles out where you can handle them. Imagine that! Their handgun selection and their used gun selections are very good. They also carry a nice selection of black powder revolvers, something a lot of similar shops have given up on. If you want something they don't have, they'll get it for you. The price will be competitive. Don't ignore this place, or skip it "because all gun shops are alike." They're not. This one stands out among the others in the area. I highly recommend it.

Visited my parents this past weekend for July 4th so I wanted to check out a range I heard about…read morenear College Station. All of the other rifle ranges I've been to in the North Houston area have been absolutely dreadful so I was hoping for a change of pace. The Cawthon Cartridge Club (CCC) is located near Navasota, TX and about 20 miles from Aggieland. The range is on a huge swath of land, I reckon about +800 acres. They have a 200 yard range, numerous uncovered tactical bays with just a few steel targets, several pistol bays and a 5-stand area for shotgun. The entire area (including berms) was covered in a lush green grass that was freshly mowed. The roads were crushed limestone. The owner roves the grounds in a John Deere Gator UTV but other than that there were no Range Safety Officers. I was only interested in shooting long distance so proceeded to the rifle range. Newcomers are restricted to 500 yards and below until they quality with the owner. There were steel hanger targets every 50 yards and at the 500 yard line, there were about 8 different steel targets of varying sizes. The grass was very neatly trimmed and gently sloped downward. Beyond the 500 yard line were targets every 100 yards until 1200. The shooting area was up on a hill with a nice metal shade structure. There were some rickety old benches but I chose to shoot prone. There was a nice breeze blowing into our faces which really helped to beat the brutal heat and humidity. Out beyond the 1200 yard target was a farmer working a field in his tractor. The owner advised us of this beforehand and asked us to hold fire until he was out of sight. This was annoying as the farmer was constantly behind the target area; fortunately I had two people with me, one to spot my targets and the other to keep an eye on the farmer. Hopefully this is not a regular occurrence. I've never shot at a range this nice before. They didn't have as many steel targets as ETTS in Waxahachie but the grounds were much nicer. Membership is $750/yr but they let me pay only for the remainder of 2016. Guests are $25 each and you are normally restricted to two.

There's a metal folding chair and a bench that's too high for it at the 100 so I just went prone instead. So if you're not a member don't expect much. Otherwise, I understand there's some decent long shots to be had there with covered shelters and such. I don't recall the membership dues but it's several hundred dollars.

Will not work with you on ANYTHING and if you plan to pawn or get a loan on something you better make sure it's newer than two or three years old because they act like it's an ancient artifact if the item is within that time frame. Today, Saturday, 1/23/21 at 1:20 pm, I went in to purchase ammo. I was asked if I needed a mask, I declined respectfully and asked for ammo. The employee continued to demand I put on a mask. I told her I had a serious medical condition and can't wear a mask. She laughed and said I do too. I asked if I could just get the ammo and then I would leave. She got my ammo and checked me out, they couldn't split the transaction between cash and card so I had to run to my car to get more cash. When I came back in, she had the owner with short hair and glasses with her. The owner told me "how dare you be defiant and not wear a mask?" I told her I have been in here dozens of times and never been asked to wear a mask. Even once she told a gentlemen working "we can't force him" and yet here she was yelling at me saying I was defiant. The employee asked me to "just put it on to make her [the owner] happy." She told me to "never come back in here without a mask." I was respectful and polite when I declined the mask but yet I was accused of being defiant. I told them God bless and I would never support the business again. I felt disrespected and embarrassed as she yelled at me in front of other customers. I trusted them and was humiliated. There are other stores for ammo, Gun broker or cheaper than dirt are better, but I was choosing to support my community, support a local business. I will never make that mistake again. It's a sad day when a small, local business is driving their own customers to their online competitors.
