My pets have been staying here for years, and I'm always extremely happy with the experience. I've boarded my pets at my other different places (in other cities), and Tehachapi Pet Lodge is a clear winner in how they care for the animals. It starts with good people. This place has all the right people - it is obvious that each person cares about my pets. They are kind to them, patient, and accommodating. When I have special requests or needs (like medications or things to be careful of) they are always mindful of it. Whenever I pick up my pets my pets are happy to see me but also don't look like they were sad to have been there. And my pets never resist going here, which says a lot. The facility is always clean, tidy, and safe for my pets. I appreciate that they let me see where my pet will be, so I can feel more comfortable about my pet's stay. Whenever I call, they are always happy to tell me the truth about how my pet is doing. And they give a very personalized report - so I can tell they are hands-on. (If you've ever done a Petsmart boarding, you know what the opposite of this is like.) One time my pet had a medical need arise (which wasn't a surprise to me because of my pet's medical situation). They notified me immediately and offered to take my pet to their adjacent veterinary office to be seen immediately. I declined, but appreciated their attentiveness and care. They also are a pet supplies store! They have treats, food, care supplies, supplements, leashes, etc. I cannot say enough positive things about Tehachapi Pet Lodge. read more

My Fur baby loves this place. We have boarded him here since he was a puppy, now he is 3. When we walk in to drop off, he recognizes the girls working and is excited to go with them. I do my best to schedule way in advance. This is a small town and only a couple of options. They fill up quick on busy weekends. The reservation process is quick and easy and these ladies here are always friendly. My dog is well taken care of and well fed. We love the pet lodge! read more

4-15-19 to 4-22-19 we boarded our dogs Lily and Scarlett. I booked a month in advance because they fill up quick. It's 26.50 for first dog and 17,50 second dog. This is the only place I have ever boarded my dog so I don't have anything to compare it to. It seems a little much to me. I guess I should do some research. You can pay for extra walks, baths and other extras. But we just figured we were spending enough. I was able to go in the back and see where they were going to be. Every one that works there is very nice. Always have great customer service. When you walk in they great you right away. While we were gone I called to check on dogs and they were nice to fill me in on how they were doing. I feel like they take good care of them. We spent almost 400$ to board for a week. That was painful to pay after a week on vacation. The day after picking up dogs Scarlett my little dog started sneezing and making a noise that's hard to explain. So right to the vet we went for another 60$ bill. We are not sure what it is because she wouldn't do it for the Vet. She has never done before we boarded her. So still watching that. This rating is simply for the booking process alone. My pets have yet to stay here. I just called to book my two dogs and whoever answered the phone was RUDE from the very start. It was like I was the biggest inconvenience to her day. Everything she said had an attitude. read more

Unfortunately, our Rottie does not like being boarded. This Pet Lodge is not cheap but they do provide great care and are very friendly. I really enjoy how they don't mind if you call in from out of town to see how your doggie is doing. They will also call you if they have any concerns about your animal or your animal is ill. One area of improvement for them is, I would really like it if they had webcams in the kennels so you could see your doggie! It is especially helpful when you pick your dog up from boarding that they give you a full report. Recommended! read more

A couple positive things came out of not being able to board here. Had several friends learn about the need of Canine Influenza vaccine (and to get started a months before boarding). And had the chance to check it out in case needing to board in the future. Stopped in over the Memorial Weekend and they were hopping, lots of dogs (some a little more vocal than others), and people booking their boarding. Staff at the store was friendly and very helpful. With having to keep the furriend with me at all times, I decided to look for a muzzle. Even though she rarely barks, this was the first time in areas where she would be around large crowds. They had a great selection, and helped me to understand how they fit (should be able to get a finger in so they are able to open mouth wide enough to drink water). Also picked up a great silicone brush, squeaky ball (because balls make all things better), rope toy, and a step-in harness (great selection of harnesses). If you've never been in here you are missing out...all things dogs, cats, fish, and birds. The Outfitters portion was definitely an exceptional find. read more

This is a cute little pet store! They sell fish and aquarium supplies. They sell cockatiels, budgies, and bird supplies. They sell various rodents from little mice up through guinea pigs and all the accessories and supplies necessary for them. They sell reptiles and their supplies, too! On this visit I saw a ball python and various lizards. They also sell dog and cat food, treats, toys, and clothing. It's amazing how much they fit into such a small place and still make it look attractive and not sloppy! read more

I only recently have discovered the pet lodge and I'm impressed. They are the only place that carries our preferred brand of dog food. They have a really great selection and the staff is very nice and helpful. They really seem to do a good job of reaching out to the community and making their customers feel appreciated as well. read more

I was traveling from Washington State to Yuma Arizona and stayed one of my travel nights inTehachapi. I needed a to board my Maltese mix dog. and the Pet Lodge was the only one available in Tehachapi. I couldn't have been more pleased. The staff was friendly and efficient, the check-in went without incident and I felt like my dog was well taken care of. I would not hesitate to have him stay there again. read more

They definitely have a decent selection of small pets as well as food, toys and various products. Everything is a bit overpriced but if I can't wait for something in the mail I always head to the Pet Lodge. I have been taking my dogs here for years, due to COVID we have had to cancel several vacations. We paid our deposit and were able to cancel our reservations with the Pet Lodge on all but one occasion. The Pet Lodge had no exception attitude when they advised me they would be keeping $200. I asked that my additional deposit be refunded. They advised me they would only be able to provide me store credit. The woman behind the counter was matter of fact and said if I had a problem with it, I could take my business elsewhere. Well that is fine, but you are holding $200 in store credit , so I kind of have to spend it. Will not be returning after my store credit is gone. I will be letting everyone know not to provide them business. read more

Stopped in Tehachapi Pet Lodge and Outfitters to pick up some new fish for my tank. These guys are healthy, happy, and you can tell they were well taken care of. I've seen dead fish floating in tanks at other pet shops, and no one seems to care! That is not a place where I like to purchase my pets from. Thanks for the fish, guys! read more

This place is the best. They were very professional when we had to board our dog. The drop off was stress free; they allowed me multiple tours before hand so i was comfortable with their operation. The report card we got when we picked our dog Maui up and all the stories the employees had about her made me feel like they really took good care of her. They obviously got to know her. They have great deals on doggy baths and "yappy hour" specials. It looks like they have good specials on vaccinations too. They even took our baby fish when we had an unexpected breeding bonanza. It's where I go to look for treats toys and fish supplies, and I won't hesitate to board Maui at Tehachapi Pet Lodge again. read more

The staff at this small pet boutique are always friendly and spoil my Doberman with treats every time I bring him in. Pet food selection is small, but fortunately they carry the brand I use for my pooch. read more

I honestly say I have never been so dissapointed with this place the owners are the rudest people I have ever met!! I over heard them yelling at an employee and felt that they should not have treated this poor girl the way they they did. I won't go back! read more

We love this place! We frequently board our dog Sage here. The staff are friendly, the facility is clean and most importantly, our dog really seems happy to go there. The only reason I did not give this review five stars is that they fill up so quickly you have to book a couple of weeks in advance in order to ensure a kennel. read more

I was disappointed with the Pet Lodge Grooming of my 6 pound dog. I was surprised when I picked him up after his grooming when I was told the fee had increased 100 per cent. I should have been told about the fees when I made the appointment not when I picked him up. I have taken him there for several years and have been pleased until now. The fees should be posted as they are in good "human beauty salons". When we arrived home I removed his vest to find hair matted backward on the shoulder and the vest was damp on the inside. One ear still had gunk inside which I removed. I will have to reconsider when it is time for his next grooming. B. Senseman read more
