Friendly staff, knowledgeable, location is clean. Good place to take your fur-babies. They also have dog grooming, plus plus.

I had had mostly good experiences here. Sure, they would take longer than promised to finish the…read moregrooming, often after their closing time. And it's impossible to reach them by phone (besides leaving a message and getting a call back in a few days... which isn't reasuring when I'm calling to check how much longer the grooming will take). But they usually did what I requested, and I was happy with the result. But the last time I brought in my dog, my dog was very badly injured when I picked her up. They hurt her leg somehow - I'm going to guess they forcefully held her paw for nail cutting, instead of acknowledging her protests. (She's a vocal breed, so unfortunately some groomers are inclined to ignore her vocal cues.) My dog couldn't stop whimpering in pain for 2 months. Even in her sleep, she would wake up whimpering from the pain (for about a month). I took her to the vet right away, thinking maybe her leg was broken. The vet said nothing was broken or dislocated, thankfully. But her whimpering in pain broke my heart. What also bothers me is that when I dropped her off, I told the person she has sensitivity in her front paws so to please be gentle. Obviously that was ignored. One factor (I have to assume) is that the person I dropped my dog off with is not the same person who was there when I picked up my dog. So I wonder if what I said even got communicated to whoever was grooming her or cutting her nails. I called Wizard of Paws, and they denied knowing what I was talking about (that my dog had been injured, was whimpering in pain, etc) - said they had no idea how it may have happened, and that it surely wasn't because of them. Overall, it was mostly fine getting my dog groomed here... until it wasn't.

Man, I'll be honest with you…read more. This place I felt, for a time, was heaven sent. And then I came in to pick my dogs up early and the rocket doctor that was in the back didn't know that the dog she was telling to shut the f**k up was my dogs. (Oh I straight up girl you, you toad) She repeatedly told them to shut up with all the expletives. I get it . Shaving dog assholes and balls all day must be "exhausting". But if you're in that job and you don't wanna do that şhiît then you don't belong in animal care. When we give you our animals, we are giving you an extreme amount of trust and this place is now tainted in my mind. However, I have a little choice, but to go elsewhere. I will continue to take my animals here out of necessity, but know that I know .

My pets have been staying here for years, and I'm always extremely happy with the experience. I've…read moreboarded my pets at my other different places (in other cities), and Tehachapi Pet Lodge is a clear winner in how they care for the animals. It starts with good people. This place has all the right people - it is obvious that each person cares about my pets. They are kind to them, patient, and accommodating. When I have special requests or needs (like medications or things to be careful of) they are always mindful of it. Whenever I pick up my pets my pets are happy to see me but also don't look like they were sad to have been there. And my pets never resist going here, which says a lot. The facility is always clean, tidy, and safe for my pets. I appreciate that they let me see where my pet will be, so I can feel more comfortable about my pet's stay. Whenever I call, they are always happy to tell me the truth about how my pet is doing. And they give a very personalized report - so I can tell they are hands-on. (If you've ever done a Petsmart boarding, you know what the opposite of this is like.) One time my pet had a medical need arise (which wasn't a surprise to me because of my pet's medical situation). They notified me immediately and offered to take my pet to their adjacent veterinary office to be seen immediately. I declined, but appreciated their attentiveness and care. They also are a pet supplies store! They have treats, food, care supplies, supplements, leashes, etc. I cannot say enough positive things about Tehachapi Pet Lodge.

My Fur baby loves this place. We have boarded him here since…read morehe was a puppy, now he is 3. When we walk in to drop off, he recognizes the girls working and is excited to go with them. I do my best to schedule way in advance. This is a small town and only a couple of options. They fill up quick on busy weekends. The reservation process is quick and easy and these ladies here are always friendly. My dog is well taken care of and well fed. We love the pet lodge!
