Kara is very conscientious when it comes to caring for your pets while you're away on vacation. She remembered every detail of how we care for and feed our animals. We were very nervous to leave them but she would send us updates and pictures of them every day! They all looked very happy! She had someone else, named Angela, fill in for her during one visit and Angela also did a great job. All in all we were very impressed with Kara's pet sitting! She did a wonderful job and is great with animals! We definitely recommend her! read more

Pet sitting. Absolutely wonderful service and my cats liked her. Can't ask for more than that. She'd come by once a day to feed and play with my kitties. I love that she sent pictures every day. Also, her rates were reasonable. Highly recommend. read more

Save your money and use Rover. Cheaper and more employee options. It's a great idea in theory but there is one main employee and things are not done to my standards especially for the price and overnights. I always spend hours fixing all the missed items and my animals did not get the attention they deserved. Drop ins always felt rushed and over nights did not mean more time caring for the dogs and cats. I have cameras and there's no way to be in and out so quickly if they had done what was on the list. Tried to speak with Kara about the extra service charges and paid $1200 for one week because I have foster cats. This entails scooping two extra litter boxes. Also the employee has broken two of my vacuums and all these issues were never communicated to me even though I would text every day. Sorry for the negative review and best of luck in your endeavors! read more

Absolutely loves Kara Cares! We had a week long vacation and could not take our 9yr old GS, Keisle. We had just lost her buddy Hippo so we were very concerned to leave her alone with someone just feeding her and leaving. Kenneling would have been even worse for her. Amanda came and stayed with Keisle 7pm to 7am. Amanda was so sweet and patient with our girl and they became quick friends. She sent us pictures and videos and let us know how she was doing every day. Highly recommend them & will use them again! THANK YOU KARA read more

We used Kara Cares and her teammate, Leticia, this past week to cover our two cats while we traveled to Atlanta for a memorial service. We've recently moved to Santa Barbara and our cats are mostly adjusted, but not completely. Leticia came to met the cats and asked all the right questions about each cat before the trip. She and Kara both were very communicative and caring! Leticia sent pictures and videos each day and her service was excellent. It made our cross-country trip less stressful to know that our cats were in good hands. Leticia even left us a special thank you for our return. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will definitely reach out to Kara and her team the next time we travel. They're excellent! read more

We just moved to Bakersfield and I searched (using Yelp) for a dog sitter. Kara Cares had great reviews and seemed to be small and personal. Just like New York (Traveling Leash) I hit the jackpot. I scheduled an appointment for a meet and greet. Kara and Angela (a sitter) came to meet the boys. They got to know our boys and us before any commitment, by either one of us, was made. We felt more than comfortable and we scheduled 2 visits. The first was a one time visit and then a 6, turned to 7, day vacation visit. We were sent pics (requested) every visit and the communication was excellent. Due to flight delays we had to ask for an extra day and it was taken care of. I would highly recommended Kara and her pet sitters. read more

Kara took care of our dog over the holiday weekend and did a great job! She came for a free meet and greet and made sure our pup felt comfortable. We got pictures and updates every day, and came home to a very happy dog! She also pulled our trash down to the curb for us. Thanks, Kara! read more

I hired Kara's team for cat and house sitting while I was away on a trip. My cat sitter Lilly came by for drop in visits and some house sitting tasks. Kara and Lilly came by beforehand to meet the cats. You can tell by the way they interact and their initial questionnaire that they truly care! Lilly showed up on time every day and sent update videos of my cats so I knew they were doing well. Prices are very reasonable for the services provided. I will definitely be trusting them again to help take care of my home and pets while I'm away. read more

Hired the service this week for 4 days of pet drop in visits. Very pleased overall. Simple, flexible and efficient process from start to finish. Initially started via email and then transferred to text messages for more convenient and quicker responses. Kara and the sitter first came by for intro visit to meet the pets and understand the lay of the land. Sitter came by to perform the tasks we discussed while I was away and she was so patient and attentive with my overly detailed instructions. Great communications, treated my pets like they're her own so I definitely appreciate the love and care provided. They truly do care and I highly recommend the service Already booking them for my next trip! read more

We have been living in Bakersfield for 3 years and have had 2 pet sitters before Kara. I was not really happy with the first sitter hence the second sitter. My second sitter was brilliant. We worked together for so many times but her kids are all grown now and are moving to go to universities. So i was devastated when she moved out of Bakersfield. I thought I'd never find a better pet sitter than #2. I was wrong. I met Kara on Yelp! From the moment that I hit the Request Quote button, everything has been great with Kara. She is prompt and precise in replying messages, very personable in person and she does care for animals. Usually my cats will run and hide whenever we come back from our trip. But after Kara cared for them, they actually came towards me with purrs and head butts! I felt so special. My cats are so happy and that makes me happy as well. I had an emergency and needed my keys earlier than we had arranged and Kara managed to accommodate that and I truly appreciate it. If you are in need of a caring, trustworthy pet sitter or house sitter (maybe, you can ask her) in Bakersfield, please contact Kara. I'm actually sad I wouldn't be seeing her or needing her services anymore because we are moving out of state. Thank you Kara! I'm attaching pics of Kitty and Kin so you can forever remember them. read more

I checked Yelp to find dog sitting services and I found Kara's profile. She had amazing reviews and I have to say that I need to add one more amazing review to her Yelp profile. I have two dogs that I needed caring for at my house and Kara answered my request immediately and throughout all of our exchanges she has been amazing. She came to my home to meet my dogs and they instantly loved her!(As mentioned in other reviews....it's true ~ she has a type of magic!) She is professional and kind. Kara sent photos of my puppies and gave me updated throughout! I'm so happy!!! Amazing service!!! read more

We recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary, and really didn't want to take our dog Tessa along. We were a bit iffy leaving her at home for 8 nights, and were getting ready to cave when Kara came along. She assured us Tessa would be in good hands, and she was right! Kara sent pictures and videos to us twice a day, and the bond she established with Tessa grew stronger every day (as was obvious from the pictures). When we got home, Tessa was happy to see us, but we could see in her eyes that she missed Kara's visits. Our house was in better order than when we're here- papers laid out, mail sorted, a note from Kara. We are looking forward to using her service again- real soon! read more

We just had Kara and Aleya watch our five furball's for us for a little less than a week. All of the animals have different ailments that require special food or prescription medication and everything was handled so well. The forms are very informative and helpful for each individual pet to explain the care that they require, Kara came out to meet the animals with a Aleya and they were very thorough and even took notes. Additionally she took out our trash got our mail and kept our house very nice. I highly recommend Kara's team and will absolutely be using them again. read more

Kara is amazing! Not only did she take care of my 3 kitties, she also treated them as if they were her own and looked after my plants as well (which are just as important to me!) Upon my first meeting with Kara, I felt as if we have been long time friends. She is easy to work with and is a warm genuine person. She also kept me updated with texts and pictures. It was great to have peace of mind while away from my furkids and home! I highly recommend Kara Cares and will most definitely be employing her again for my future trips! read more

I have a pet sitting service in Santa Barbara (Petcentric) and before Kara opened her business in Bakersfield, for 15 years she cared for my pets, as well as my clients' pets. When I met Kara all those years ago, I was instantly impressed by her professionalism, kindness, and clear love for animals. But having owned and operated my business for over 21 years, I've learned that not all pet sitting candidates who interview well turn out to be right for the job -- but not Kara, she exceeded my expectations! And despite her now living in Bakersfield she occasionally watches my dog and will be here in a couple of weeks to do it again. Our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Tabby will be grinning from ear-to-ear no doubt and then, I can travel worry-free to Glacier Nat. Park! From my experience, I can tell you, as a pet owner you can count on Kara to be: -dependable & trustworthy (if she says she'll do something, she'll do it) -flexible (sometimes last minute pet sitting needs arise and Kara always does her best to accommodate) -calm & nurturing (pets have emergencies occasionally and Kara handles them calmly without causing the pets (and me!) undue stress. -experienced (15 years of professional pet sitting and also a pet owner herself) -detail-oriented & self motivated (follows instructions well but also takes initiative when she sees something that needs doing) -friendly & pleasant to work with! Trust me when I say, "You can't go wrong hiring Kara." She truly has a heartfelt love of animals and will go out of her way to make sure you and your pets are happy. read more

Kara is absolutely amazing. I literally cannot recommend her enough. Her attention to detail, her willingness to do all the little quirky things, her communication during her visits and the love that she gives out to my cats is above & beyond what I would have even hoped for- I found Kara after moving to Bfield last year in the middle of Covid-times. She took the time to (try to..they are cats after all) meet my cats and was thorough in her questions about their needs, their schedule, their habits and information for the apartment. (Mail, plants, etc) I am grateful for her willingness to adjust when I have last minute changes and honestly, she is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Her interactions with my cats are exactly what I was looking for. Loving, caring, responsible and attentive. I have been having her come visit for quite some time now and the cats have warmed up to her. There is no one I feel more comfortable with and no one I would trust more with the care of my cats. This review is long over due and barely captures all the glowing things I could say! read more

Kara is an amazing dog sitter/dog walker. She is super professional, dependable, and trustworthy. I have 3 dogs and I am so happy to have found Kara - when we travel it is so great knowing our dogs are well cared, provided some outside time, given love and attention. She sends videos so you can see your dogs are doing well. She followed very specific instructions and we have never had an issue. I don't worry about our dogs when traveling and on vacation. Kara also walks our dogs 2-3 days a week and she is always right on time and accommodates my schedule. If you are looking for a dog walker or sitter while on vacation, I would highly recommend Kara! read more

Kara and her team are wonderful pet sitters. Kara, Aleya and Amanda have taken care of my 4 dogs and tortoise. They are professional, on-time, and always take wonderful care of my pets. We are so fortunate to have found Kara! Our dog Buster is 9 years old and has separation anxiety plus other issues. We had to be gone for a week and were dreading having to Kennel him. We found Kara and she was amazing. She is very professional and makes sure she knows all she can about your dog and clearly explains what she provides. She came to our home to meet us and Buster and I knew right then this was going to work out wonderfully. All of us loved her. She sent us texts and pictures daily, took Buster for walks twice a day, fed him, played with him and took great care of our home. This is the first trip that we didn't constantly worry about Buster. We will use Kara every time we need dog care. read more

When we moved into town, we quickly needed to enjoy the close attractions the area has to offer. For that reason, we needed to find a dog sitter to take care of our kids. Better known as our dogs. We searched yelp, and found Kara. We thought it was interesting that she wanted to meet our dogs first, but that only assured us of her attention to her business. She arranged a visit, and our dogs quickly accepted her. That was back in July 2018, fast forward to now, and she has watched over our dogs no less than 4 times. Those four times consisted of her visiting them, feeding them, and playing with them three times a day, for numerous consecutive days. Kara clearly knows what she is doing, and is very responsible and respectful when we trust her with checking up on our dogs at our own home. Her prices are very reasonable. We definitely recommend her to anyone seeking the services of a dog sitter. read more

I had to leave out of town for a few nights and I hired "Kara Cares" to take care of my dog, Bella. Kara came out and met my dog before I left. Once I left town, Kara took great care of my "child". I know Bella loved getting the attention and I appreciate the feeling of not having to worry when I was out of town. I don't like leaving my dog at home when I leave and if I can, I will take her. But on the times when she cannot go, I would definitely have Kara Cares watch her every time. I know that I won't have to worry and she will be in good hands. read more

I have never used a pet sitter before and was reluctant to have someone come to my house while I was away. My cleaning lady used to come by and feed my cat. Recently, I decided to try a pet sitter and came across Kara Cares online. It couldn't have worked out better. It started out with a meet and greet with the owner and the sitter who was to be ours. It was love at first sight for the two of them (cat and sitter), in a manner of speaking. It was arranged that she would come by 3 times a day to feed and care for him and perform routine tasks. While doing so, she also sent updates and photos daily. I couldn't have been more pleased. Kara Cares also requests that you fill out a questionnaire with all the pertinent information about your pet with contacts and emergency information. It was very professional and I knew he was getting the best care. From now on I plan on using Kara Cares whenever I am out of town. Just ask Mr. Grady Lewis (pictured). read more

Kara is the BEST! She fed my kitty while we were out of town. She is reliable, reasonably priced and seems to adore animals! Our family gathers in Southern California for Christmas and usually someone stays back to watch the various dogs who cannot travel. This year for one of our group's elderly dogs we tried a dog sitter. We were nervous particularly since the boys are almost 13 years old, and one has been sick, but Kara and Sam did an excellent job. They made sure the boys were given their medication, got loved on, and sent texts and photos letting us know everything was going well. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dog sitter. read more
