We love Paws and Claws. We have been taking our Labrador Henry here for over a year for daycare. Everyone is very friendly and Henry is so excited when we pull up. Henry is still a puppy so it's nice to drop him off and let them wear him out so when we get home he's ready for his nap. I found Paws and Claws by accident, while I was trying to book at my favorite boarding place. They seem to be relatively new to Bakersfield but have great Yelp reviews. I decided to give them a try since my regular boarding place was fully booked. The staff are super friendly and kind. I stopped by before my scheduled boarding for a tour, the place is clean and well staffed. Everything is managed through the Paw Partner app, (making appointments, uploading vaccines, etc). The day of boarding went smoothly, dropping off the two girls was easy. I explained a little to the staff about their personalities and they were willing to listen. During my time away, they even posted a photo of my girls having fun outside! That was a nice added perk. The cost is a little higher than the competitors, but it was well worth my piece of mind. read more

My two pups had their first ever boarding experience here. They seemed very happy when we came to pick them up after being away for 2 nights. I will definitely use them again for boarding... only bummer I would say is I sent them with 2 benebones to keep busy in the kennel and they came home without them. I always see posts of dogs during their stay and was hoping to see some of mine or emailed pictures but I didn't receive anything. Other than that, I'm happy with the service. I had to go out of town for a family emergency and forgot to make arrangements for my old fur baby Matilda. I called to see if they could board my dogger, last minute and they were 100% accommodating. They made the boarding process simple and we're extremely helpful during a stressful time. The owners were very sweet and even gave me and my husband a tour of the facility. The place was very clean, and there were plenty of areas for the dogs to have playtime. The dogs in their care seemed happy. My dog barely looked back when I handed her over and didn't seem stressed at all when I picked her up. read more

Pretty disgusting you think a refund makes this ok. If this is the owner who posts on here, you even acknowledged your staff is incompetent and that you were "going to fire all of them" because they've already had verbal warnings about not properly taking care of the dogs at the facility. Having my dog returned to me with dried feces and mangled paws, and undoubted mental trauma staying there ya sure your refund totally repairs that. ZERO STARS! Do not take your pet here under any condition! We boarded our dog here because our favorite kennel, Fur & Feathers, had no availability. Our dog was here for 1 week and he was very healthy when we brought him here. We informed them that he does have a collapsed trachea and occasionally coughs when he gets excited, which is not a sickness. Upon picking him up, he came home with bloody diarrhea and SEVERE kennel cough. He was having trouble breathing when we picked him up and we immediately took him to Animal Emergency that evening. He was diagnosed with SEVERE KENNEL COUGH and bloody stool. He was given a shot, prescribed an antibiotic, and was given Panacur and Fortiflora for his stomach. He is also on cough tabs and canine aspirin. It has been 36 hours and he is not better at all. The OWNER is rarely at the kennel, according to the staff of 2 college aged girls. I made 3 phone call attempts, but the owner was never available. Finally, I made a trip back down to the kennel. The girl upfront called the owner for me to speak with. I spoke with the owner over the phone today. I was hoping she would be sympathetic to our situation, but that was the opposite of what happened. She was demeaning, accusing, arrogant, and wouldn't hardly let me talk. I guarantee she will comment on this with an arrogant and disrespectful response, with 100 reasons why she is right and I am wrong. I am sickened by this whole experience. Please do not use this business, unless you also want a $357 vet bill, a very sick pet, and terrible customer service from the owner. Paws & Claws please remember the value of your customers feelings and concerns. You completely shut me down and tried to overpower my voice. It's sickening... we of course will never return. Save yourself a massive headache and go somewhere else. read more

However, Paws and Claws is so amazing and has multiple play areas for the pets and the staff gives them so much attention! I unfortunately was not able to pick up or drop off our dogs, but my boyfriends family said customer service was beyond excellent, store front was immaculate, and our dogs were SO excited when checking in. When they arrived in the morning they had our pets names written on a chalkboard welcoming them for the weekend. We could easily tell they had a great time over the weekend because when we picked them up they were excited and in great spirits. To top the weekend off, we were caught in horrible traffic and they waited after hours for us to be able to pick our boys up. They even posted photos of our dogs for us to see them over the weekend and they looked happy as can be!! Will absolutely be going back and going to give them as much business as possible. read more

We boarded our Boston for the first time, and I can't say enough about the staff here. I showed up with my kids, unannounced, to check the place out. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful and answered all my questions. Charlie (the dog) seems like he had a great time! The staff was kind enough to send photos while we were on our trip. I can't say enough about the staff; the facilities seem to be a work in progress (they're new after all), but I doubt Charlie noticed the lack of finishing touches. We will definitely bring him back if we have to board him, and maybe just to socialize with other dogs! read more

I never boarded our dogs before. We have left Sammy and Belle twice for our vacation. Our biggest issue was care for the dogs. I seen their website and stopped for a tour. I planned a daycare visit before to let them feel comfortable. The dogs are very comfortable on drop off and pick up. The girls have always been very sweet to us. Sammy was diabetic and they gave him shots he needed. Some places will not even take that on but the girls were very comfortable giving his medication. I enjoy the pictures and updates when we are gone. read more

Our Great Dane Tucker visited Paws and Claws resort over the Labor Day weekend. This is a family owned business with immaculate facilities. They were very kind and caring to our boy. They gave him a bath and trimmed his nails. They even provided a report card at the end of his stay which we thought was a nice touch. We will be visiting again! read more

I've taken our dog other places here in town and when we pick him up he's depressed for a few days.
