None of the courts had any major scratches, no cracks and the seem to have been recently re-surfaced. The nets are also in great condition. While I did bring balls to play with, the park has a nicely sized stash of balls by the court for guests to use. Also, if you want to play tennis, but are by yourself this is a really nicely place to stop off at as they have a wall to hit against. When my friend was in the bathroom, I tried it out. While it wasn't great, it served its purpose. General Wayne Park also has a nicely sized playground with swings, slides, monkey bars and more! There is also a nicely sized basketball court! Around the park is a walking trail, which seemed to be very popular. Plenty of people were on the trail taking a jog, a leisurely walk or taking their dog for a walk! Altogether, General Wayne Park is great as it has a fantastic playground and of course three great tennis courts!

I've also brought the toddler over to play around a bit in the morning, and it's been a fun spot to check out. The playground has a small kid area, which I appreciate. The exercise equipment is in two separate spots in the park (that I'm aware of), which makes for a nice workout - run to the one by the baseball fields, do some exercise, then run back around to the one near the memorial and do some exercises and stretches there. It's closer to home than the longer route I usually run, so I like doing this shorter route with some additional workouts if I'm a little more crunched on time in the morning.

I started playing here in the fall when it wasn't high school tennis season, so hopefully when I go out there starting in the spring (more specifically so, tonight). There are a lot of parking spaces along the building and the courts are not too hard to find. The tennis courts are located on Radnor High School's campus off of King of Prussia Road. Drive straight back from the entrance and you will find a row of parking to the right, in front of one of the high school's buildings. The courts are right past the parking area. I'm going out there to play tonight, so I'll update whether or not spring time play is OK for those not going to Radnor High. Edit 4/3/08 8:30 pm: So, I played on the courts tonight and the lights were on *YAY*. I went two weeks ago and the lights weren't on, so this calls for celebration! Spring is here and it's tennis season! Earlier I said that there were five courts. There are actually nine all together. Five are lit and four aren't. As a note: From May 1 to August 29th (2008) there are lessons going on on the first and second courts in the evening. Also, I'm thinking that the Radnor High School Tennis Team practices right after school, so this is a good place to go hit after us non-high schoolers get out of work.

This is a rectangular greenspace in the grid of downtown Phoenixville. It's about two blocks of…read morepark space. When I visited on a warm day in late winter, there was plenty of street parking, along the perimeter of the park (all FREE). These are what the borough describes as the park amenities: -All-Abilities Playground -Small Ball Field -Band Pavilion -Gazebo -Historic Monuments They don't mention the well sized open-air theater, which is impressive. They host concerts & movie nights there in the warm months. This would be an amazing summer venue for children's theater in the day, & adult shows at night. I actually did some research & investigating for this Yelp review so I could share helpful info. I called the park office, was sent to their programming office (610-933-8801 x127 Debbie), left messages & questions everywhere, but did not learn any more than what I could see in the existing calendar online (no calls back). So a local can probably give you a better idea, but I tried. There is an outdated playground (still newish by many standards), & an impressive newer one. According to a proud sign, just inside the gate, the new playground at Reeves is a Biba playground. Biba is a company in Vancouver, Canada. Apparently they offer apps for interactive play. Their website is not the easiest to navigate, & info is not well presented, IMO, so I gave up after 5 minutes screwing with it. I did not see any of the kids there using apps, however, I was interested to see moms interacting with their kids in ways I have not seen at other playgrounds. I am not sure if the moms-kids games were based on the Biba apps, or their own creativity, but it made me so happy to see the interaction. I am normally the mom climbing all over the playstructure to make sure my very active 19-month-old doesn't get hurt or take a fall. So it was cool to see that this playground was made to allow parents easy access all over everything, at their kids' sides, & that these active moms present when I visited, were doing just that. They were teaching the kids a hide-and-seek type game, as well as a tag type game. I also saw the kids pretending they were animals, really cute. My son was too young to get involved, but he enjoyed watching the big kids at play. So if these games were the result of the Biba apps, I totally think they're awesome. If not, I wish more people would catch on to these ideas & play more with their kids. Few other playgrounds have parents this engaged. It's too common to see people lost on their phones, or trying to chat up other parents for an adult social off to the side. As for the play equipment itself, it was really captivating & creative, with unusual ideas for the structure design, & all the moving components. For example, there is a slide of stainless steel rollers (like at the end of a warehouse conveyor belt or something). In my mom brain, as soon as I saw it, I KNEW my kid would NEED to go down that thing. Soon enough, his eyes popped & he made a beeline. So I guided him down over, & over, & over. That thing does accelerate & get insane, but he had so much fun! Biba is following a trend of playground marketing that I find similar to the fancy grocery store experience we've watched take off over the past 10+ years. Why not dress up the grocery store & make it a destination? Honestly, some people now go on dates to grocery stores. So the new playground thing is to make it a mind & body experience; to emphasize exercise benefits, promote more types of movement (different ways to climb, centrifuge pieces to challenge balance, mock rope bridges that challenge strength & balance), & acknowledge that your kid is getting a workout each day, & a better one at a better playground. Do I buy into that? Kind of. Biba (like many new playgrounds) also adds puzzles or sign language & Braille charts to the walls of the nooks. I'd think kids would run right past the mental didactic stuff, if I didn't witness them actually stopping to use it. Cool. A huge plus for me was that this place was completely fenced in, & everyone paid attention to assuring the gate stayed latched. This allowed me to let my son have freedom to run within safe limits. It also deters people who don't belong at a playground from coming inside, keeps litter at bay, & eliminates the risk of dog surprises or anything like that. I probably sound paranoid, but you have to look out for EVERYTHING as a parent, & have a million scenarios running in your head to keep on top of wild kids. A lot of places these days are vying for the "renowned destination playground" title, but of all the impressive ones I've seen (Smith in Fairmount Park, Freedom in Haverford, Smiles in Aston, Kids Dream in Glen Mills, etc.) this one at Reeves is now my favorite. It wasn't too crowded, parents there cared deeply about the outdoor play experience, the equipment was new/fun/clean/safe, my kid dug it, it was fenced in, & parking was right nearby & free. Visit!

We used to walk by the papermill, play in the stream and feed the ducks at the duck pond. Nice place for recreation and an outdoor picnic lunch. I visited today with my Dad and we walked a bit of the trail and read the recently added memorial for victims of violence (law enforcement and military in the line of duty, domestic violence, people killed during crimes, etc.). The memorial is a very relaxing and peaceful area with engraved benches and trees which are good for solitude and reflection.

I am so glad I reached out,…read morebecause they suggested I take them to nearby East Goshen Township Park, and my favor to others turned into such a fun trip for me today! By a little past 3pm this place was already very crowded. Joggers, walkers, strollers and dogs were all over the walking trails. The playground was mobbed. Though it was unseasonably warm for early March, there were only two people on the basketball courts, no one on the tennis courts, and no one on the ballfields. But parking lots were full with playground- and trail-goers. I have to say these trails are pretty fun, and the playground is pretty bomb. So I fully understand why so many people were hanging there! The trail meanders around the perimeter of the park, with pretty Chester County landscape views. It is somewhat curvy and hilly, so if you want straight and flat, look elsewhere. My friends' dogs had a ball. My son, too, had a blast on the playground! He loved the swings and the sand pit. I can't get him into sand at the actual beach, but he loves sand pits. This one is very large and has cool backhoe type ride-on devices for the kids to operate to shovel and dig. There were also two huge sand funnel stations, and a bunch of standard beach toys lying around. The sand was clean of debris, not even a fallen leaf, which was very cool, and impressive for this time of year. There are a number of playstructures, with all kinds of fun apparatuses. Slides, swings, climbing walls, net climbs, puzzles on the walls of the clubhouse niches, merry-go-round, (for lack of a known name) gyrating stand-on devices, and the cup seat that does a 360. Also, a metal web swing, bouncy rides, and the pièce de résistance, a magnificent flying saucer attached to a friggin' zipline!!! IDK how this got approved because it is potentially dangerous, but man, this is the coolest thing ever! The kids were in line constantly to ride it, and you could tell who is there every day practicing because some were masters at making that thing zip back and forth. They had about 45' of line to travel, and a ramp from which to launch. So awesome! My only playground complaint is that it's not fenced in, but otherwise this is an amazing place! Parents were all attentive, courteous, and looking out for one another's kids. One group ordered like 6 pizzas to be delivered to the playground pavilion, where they had a picnic dinner. Very fun!
