Ok so first off. The server Nicole is possibly the nicest server that I have ever had anywhere! She is sweet, Spencer's and knowledgeable of her menu with great recommendations. She is friendly, and talkative without being pushy or overly hovering. I would highly recommend her as a server if you get the ability. The scenery of this place is quirky and homey, with much to be desire on the outside until you see the menu. The menu and available options of Ted's range road diner is spectacular and impressive. With the basics like amazing sounding chicken options. Beef options like Cajun prime rib with delicious Yorkshire pudding. To boar chops and what I had the Bacon wrapped Elk steak with baked potato. Coming from texas, baked potato is a staple and Ted's baked potato is on point. The nice large amount of green onion, sweet smoky bacon, and delicious sour cream that is accenting but not over powering, or overshadowing what delicious potato it is piled on top of. The horseradish sauce! Omg the horseradish sauce is spectacular, sweet, with the right amount of bite! But the sauce is perfect! Everything in Ted's is scratch made and the love and effort of this shines through. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Well worth the 7 years of hype from local family and coming up from texas! To finally eat here was a treat and special.

If you are driving through Medford, Ted's provides a unique dining experience that aligns with the northern culture quite well. The environment fits the "hole in the wall" aesthetic and the dishes are unique. We had the prime rib and the bison. The prime rib was easily one of the most tender pieces of meat I've had while giving off a delicious charred flavour. The bison was also a delicious dish if you enjoy game meat. Will definitely visit again when in the area!

You drive, you look, nothing jumps out as you pull in until you smell the grid cooking and are greeted by amazing staff that truly appreciate your business. Polite, helpful, respectful, and genuinely happy staff. You sit and look over the menu which is nothing special, just your typical laminated page. You order an out of the ordinary appetizer and main course. Now you wait and chat with family and friends outside on the patio. Beer is cold and refreshing. Food arrives, WOW!!! Not expecting that! Fantastic presentation that can compete with a Michelin rated restaurant. You take you first bite and boom! Melts in your mouth deliciousness! Next thing you know the food is gone, conversations still going, staff still awesome full bellies and time to say goodbye. Would we recommend this place? You better believe we would! Fantastic food, absolutely amazing staff! What a perfect place to relax, enjoy great food and be treated like royalty. So best time you are in the area, make sure you stop in and enjoy the best meal you will ever have while in Meaford!

Meat heaven. 1/3rd of the way up the hill to a Canadian military base, you have to try Ted's at suppertime ready with a big appetite and an empty stomach because you'll want to lick your plate clean. They serve every kind of meat you can think of--elk, venison, kangaroo, bison, boar, beef, chicken, alligator. All menus are along the walls, and calling ahead for a reservation is a good idea since Collingwood and Blue Mountain buses tourists into this restaurant. We ordered the boar chop and bison steak (bison is locally farmed). The salt rim on their Caesars are homemade (kind of Cajun-style). Locals recommended we order their prime rib with Yorkshire pudding and potato latkes, but we tried these other dishes instead. Leave room (or grow a 2nd stomach) for their frozen peanut butter Oreo cake. Trust me.

Ted's, as the locals call it, is one of the best kept secrets in the Blue Mountain region. Years ago, I spent much time in Collingwood, and driving to Ted's for dinner was always a treat. However, I'll never forget the first time we drove up to this little Quonset hut in the middle of a cow pasture, in the middle of nowhere. I wish I was joking. I couldn't believe that we'd driven all that way for a place that looked like it was right out of a Wes Anderson film. The curved walls inside are covered with chipboard, and the chipboard is covered with chalkboards scribbled with the menu. The menu is the first part of what makes this place special. Ted's offers items such as venison, quail, caribou, elk, musk ox, and even alligator. The second part, is that the food is prepared perfectly. It's 100% 5-star first class cuisine. The first dinner I had at Ted's was the veggie stir-fry, which was done just right with lots of fresh ingredients. Later, when I began eating fish again, my favourite was the seafood bake. I swear, as I typed that just now, my mouth began to water. The flavours and the presentation are always spot on, and delightfully original. Most of the clientele comes from Thornbury, Meaford, Collingwood, etc.. Occasionally, some cottagers or tourists in-the-know will show up. As a vegetarian, I only know from my companions that the elk chop and prime rib are incredible, but I trust their taste. And the prime rib is always served up with yorkshire pudding in cuts like: Regular Cut, Jimmy Cut, Mikey Cut, & Captain Ron. Don't ask me what they mean. Ted's has been featured in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, Toronto Star, the National Post, and other respected publications (ok, so maybe The Sun isn't respected). According to one article, private helicopters have landed in the field next to Ted's so that their passengers could stop in for a bite. If you don't have a helicopter, and don't like taking hostages to get one, you can get there by car, bike (if you've got the energy), motorcycle, and snowmobile (there's a trail that goes right up to the diner!). The bottom line is that Ted's is a family owned, reasonably priced restaurant where you can enjoy a gourmet experience like no other. I highly recommend going on jam nights. And if you're going during peak tourist season, or for a special holiday, try to make a reservation in advance. We tried to do Mother's Day there once, and couldn't get a seat.

What a perfect hole in the wall restaurant. The food was cooked to perfection, Ted knows how too make all of these foods right! Huge portions! From appetizers to dessert it was all perfect. Such a casual inviting cozy environment. This place is a must try.

Perched up in the corner of a wrap around strip, this restaurant has big windows looking out over a corner of downtown Owen Sound. The speciality here is sandwiches, and the special that day was tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich, yumm, comfort food. I opted for a peameal, lettuce and tomato sandwich which came on thin sliced wonder bread. The bacon was on the thin side, a perfect amount for a sandwich, and had several layers of nice fresh tomato sliced thinly piled up about an inch high which gave me a nice juicy bite. The cook worked behind an open window and shouted out to me, 'Do you want mayo on that?', I said yes and went back to perusing the odd assortment of feel-good cute kitsch adorning the walls and nooks of the spacious dining room with a decidedly Christian bent to it. Then we noticed it was getting oddly quiet in the room and realized the Closed sign was on the door. It seems we were in there a bit late for lunch and they wanted a siesta possibly? Who knows, but my love affair with these working class diners continue...

Hungry Hangar is literally beside the Keppel International runway so it is a very cool place to watch small planes take off and land while eating. It's so popular with locals that the owners had to ask patrons to keep their stay to 1.5 hours so other customers can also dine with them. Sure enough, mid--way through our meal, a plan landed and taxied right to the window, parked, while the pilot hopped out and walked to the office building next to the restaurant. This is our first visit to Wiarton and we wanted to have breakfast locally. On a Tuesday morning, only two restaurants served breakfast. So glad we chose this one. We both love skillets and chose one with kielbasa sausage and one with thick slides bacon pieces. Our server was so friendly and helpful in describing the menu. We elected to have the sauce on the side; she was really open to meeting our needs. When our skillets came, they were literally medium-sized cast iron skillets, filled with crispy home potatoes, onions, bell pepper, loaded with meat and two perfectly medium fried eggs on top, with just the right amount of melted cheddar cheese. We thoroughly enjoyed HALF of our meals, dabbing our forks in the tangy, sweet sauce and sipping our very fresh decaf coffee. What a comfort meal. We boxed up our other half and will repeat this joyful meal tomorrow morning in our hotel room, though the ambience will not be nearly as entertaining. The restaurant was filled with locals, always a good sign. It's a rather small room with about 8 tables, so there is likely to be a wait on weekends. That's OK. It's worth the wait. The price was very reasonable, especially given the generous portion sizes. We will definitely be returning to try their lunch entrees. The menu looked wonderful, with many tried and true satisfying choices. Definitely out this diner in your list if you are anywhere nearby. And save time to hang around and watch airplanes do their thing.
