Pro-tip: Order a side of cheese and a side of chili, it's cheaper than if you order it on top of a dog and want some for your fries. So, you'll receive more bang for your buck. I enjoy the cheese abs chili on my dog and with my fries so yummy! Also, they have floats and milkshakes so you don't have to go get ice cream afterwards. After a meal, you'll wanna go for a walk, trust me. Lol Lastly, do not ever order the fish sandwich here. I've been eating at Ted's since I was about 10 and over the years, their fish sandwich has changed maybe three times that I noticed. I tried one about a week ago, because I remember them being good, but this time... I don't even know how to describe what I received, let's just say it was devoid of fish, fried batter. The hotdogs are definitely what you come here for and only that, the fries are gross and the grilled chicken sandwich has nothing on it, no seasoning no sauce, nothing, I think they forget the salt? Either way if I'm craving a hotdog I'll come here for that and that's all. They have a weird system I'm not use too, basically you're walking in line like you're on a conveyor belt and you tell the people cooking what you want and then the toppings then you pay. read more

The staff at the Depew location are kind and courteous. You don't ever feel rushed at all. They even offer a military discount to our veterans. The food is always cooked to your liking and always fresh. My favorite is a double cheeesburger with everything on it and a side order of French fries. If I'm feeling good I might even get their chocolate milkshake. The ambiance is always consistent. Good lighting from the ceiling and lots of natural light from the large windows. Ted's Hot Dogs are a WNY staple. Char-grilled hot dogs with that blackened and singed taut casing, that snaps on your teeth when you bite in, at just the right time ... that one bite, it is a whole experience, in and of itself. :-D Ted's locations across WNY all operate fairly the same. You order at the register and rattle off what toppings you want on your dogs and/or burgers. Then your meats (or meat-free meats) hit the grill, are rolled around to your done'ness liking, then bunned-and-loaded-up with all your picks. And that's it, you're on your way to a table to indulge in some glorious gluttony. We've visited this particular Ted's a few times during pandemic times for a couple reasons. We like their outdoor seating area; the tables are well spaced out and not too close to the road. And we like the online ordering, so you don't have to wait in line inside. Online ordering allows for easy topping customizations and cooking preferences, and then quick grab-and-go at the counter when it's all ready. As for my Ted's faves, I typically always go footlong. That way I don't feel like a piggy, eating two hot dogs, hehehe. I load up my footlong with raw onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickle chips, and catsup and mustard. It's quite the task to eat, and my husband gets a kick out of watching me try and wrangle the beast, but I get it done. :-P The hubbs usually goes for a dog or two, sometimes a burger, but also throws in an audible with a sausage, all of which he enjoys. Our son enjoys the kids meals, which conveniently come with drinks. We also have a vegan daughter in the family, and Ted's offers vegan hot dogs too, with all the same vegetable toppings available, of course. Plus, if you are a vegan or vegetarian who is particularly concerned with cross-contamination, you can request a glove-change between orders. Online ordering allows you to easily request this glove-change, too. I'm writing this review on an 80-plus degree beautiful April day in WNY. And it has me thinking this Ted's patio may be in the cards for us again soon on one of these gorgeous spring days. Ted's never disappoints when it comes to burgers and hot dogs, and this location is pretty solid! I commend this location for their service. We went as a family yesterday and we ended up waiting around 30 minutes before we were able to eat. They seem to be short staffed and they did the best they could: taking orders down the line of people, having everything ready when we got to the register, etc. Most restaurants are having a genuinely hard time now due to short staffing so I applaud them for their work! The food itself was tasty! It's hard to mess up a hot dog with ketchup, so I know what to expect each time I'm here. Their French fries are some of my favorites in Buffalo, though, so I always make sure to get myself an order. While the price of a hot dog today at $3.75 is a far cry from the 1960's price of $.15, nothing beats the chargrilled taste, done to order at the grill while you watch. The system they have down to keep the line moving is pretty much to a science. Pictured was the line at 1:30 pm on this Saturday after Thanksgiving. It moved pretty fast and before I knew it I was diving into two chargrilled dogs, with hot sauce, sweet relish, mustard and onions with a pickle on the side of each. I really like how you can direct the dog makers on how to top each dog while you watch as well. Food as entertainment! A side of fries with cheddar cheese sauce and horseradish sauce and a medium diet pepsi, rounded out my meal. Total came to $18.61. If your companion can't stomach a dog, there are other choices availsble, such as burgers (including an impossible burger) sausages, a fried bologna sandwich, chicken sandwich and a fried fish basket. It's everything I've asked fir. A flame grilled dog, which tastes better than those done after home...crispy onion rings, more like straws, and thin crispy fries. I got the split, which having lived in Buffalo most of my entire life, I never knew this existed. Half fries/half rings for $4.89. Otherwise, fries, $2.44, 3.54 or just rings 4.79. I definitely prefer char grilled food over flattop grilled hot dogs/chicken/burgers. That's why Teds has been a staple here. Very clean and friendly workers. Food has always been a little pricy, but it's good and fresh. Separate private parking lot. Large menu with plenty of add-ons to choose from! Their onion rings are freshly made and don't come out of a bag like other places. It's cafeteria style, but your food is cooked in front of you to your liking, so it takes a bit, but when it comes out, they dress it for you how you like it. I took my nephew for dinner as he has never been there, and he loved it and will definitely go back. I'll be back more often then before. I forgot how good there food was. read more

Why am I giving five stars to a hot dog restaurant? Not only are the hot dogs great, the people are really kind and friendly. You may recall a certain chicken restaurant where employees are required to respond "it will be my pleasure" to any request. While I don't think Ted's has a script, the people are every bit as friendly and polite and it definitely doesn't feel forced. I arrived for my perfect footlong hot dog and smooth as silk vanilla malt on a Saturday afternoon in the prime of holiday shopping. These folks had every reason to be grumpy in anticipation of the lunch rush ahead, but they were not. They were friendly and polite, making jokes and getting the order right. Wow I REALLY liked this place - great local flavor and delicious, affordable food. Just about every town has a beloved local hot dog joint. This is one of those in the Buffalo area, with the claim to fame being "charcoal-grilled." Well my favorite hometown hot dog chain in Florida (now defunct sadly) did the whole charcoal thing and I was definitely looking forward to it. Funny story - I was staying in Kenmore and, with a dead cell phone, relied on Tom-Tom to take me to "Ted's" and it took me to this location halfway across the county. This area has a suburban feel and this Ted's was sparkling fresh inside and out. At Ted's you order in front of the grill and then take your food to your table yourself (i.e. regular fast food style). The workers were very friendly and patient as we figured out what we wanted. The menu selection is basic American grub - hot dogs, burgers, fries, onions rings, etc. With the hot dogs being th eponymous food, of course we got those. I ordered the foot long dog with bacon. After your hot dog is cooked you tell one of the workers what toppings you want out of relish, mustard, and a number of other toppings. I chose the melted cheese (or cheese product) and their signature hot sauce with my burger. For a side I ordered the "split" which is half onions rings, half fries. Great idea. I would get either side again, both were good. The food was GREAT - loved my hot dog and the fresh-cooked bacon and hot sauce with the cheese. I got a side of cheese for the fries/onions rings and loved that too. The price was very reasonable and the portion quite filling. Bottom line: Getting a great hot dog from a local institution served by friendly employees in a unusually clean dining room AND at a great price is a recipe for success - there's a reason Ted's has been around since LBJ was president. I would highly recommend this if you find yourself in the Buffalo area and was cheap yet tasty fast food grub. read more

This place is not only dog friendly, but the service is amazing. My niece dropped her hot dog on the floor, we went to buy another one. They gave it to us for free and even brought it out to the table. We brought our dog too and he loved it. The staff gave the dog water and a treat for free. I remember when I was little and my grandpa would bring me here for a footlong hotdog & a loganberry (now that I'm thinking of it I regret not getting the loganberry). After years of living in Wyoming and Genesee Counties, I've been working on getting all of the Buffalo essentials back in my system. After getting Ted's this afternoon I'm feeling much better. ;) I ordered four footlongs w/ everything on them + chili and an order of onion rings and fries for everyone to share. It was a challenge to drive home and not dig into them but the wait was well worth it. The dog were AMAZING. Just the right amount of kick to clear my sinuses (who needs sudafed?!?) but still be able to taste what I was eating. The fries and onion rings were spot on. I love chili dogs and after reading good things about Ted's Hot Dogs I had to dine there. I did not realize that beef hot dogs were only available as jumbo, if I had I never would have gone there. I ordered a beef chili dog with fries. The hot dog looked good but the snap was too much for me. Also, the chili on the dog tasted more like something out of the can, it was so off-putting. I just scraped the chili off. On the positive side, the French fries were really good. I am sorry that I wasted time and money on going to Ted's Hot Dogs. read more

Ahhh - after a weekend of disappointing food choices during my recent trip to Western NY, Ted's once again came to my rescue. After tempting fate driving way too fast down the thruway from Syracuse so I could get there before closing, Ted's and their warm, friendly team welcomed me with open arms even though it was almost closing time. As always they made my dog to order and it was perfect! Cooked to perfection and begging for me to take it home. And I learned something - ring popping. Sounds like a carnival game, but it is actually according to Julia what the employees get to do every day. Since the onion rings are made from scratch, after the onions are sliced they are individually separated into rings then battered. Of course after I heard that I had to add some to my order. Just like every other Ted's, I love teds. Te only downside about this particular one is the unfamiliar atmosphere that I acquired from a childhood of going to the one on transit in williamsville. I am not much of a hot dog connoisseur, but the Ted's Char-Broiled Hamburger does hit the spot! I have been happy with the burgers I have had here and the many toppings. They place them on a nice plate and wrap them up to stay warm to go. I also prefer onion rings over fries but I am always undecided if I really like their style of rings. They are hand breaded, but with a thinner, crispier coating. Usually, it seems like half of the coating breaks off by the time I eat them and I feel like they should have just thrown the onions alone into the frier. I would like a better container for the to-go orders as they sort of get everywhere and leak through the bag. Service is always friendly and the restaurant looks clean. It isn't the easiest place to get in and out of, but it is manageable. For what it is, Ted's does it well! read more

This girl loves herself a hotdog! The toughest part about going to Ted's is telling myself to not binge on hotdogs and fries. Apparently, they aren't the best for your diet. So when I went there, I told myself that I will get one hotdog and one fry. So I ordered a fry and a footlong hotdog- Go big or go home! On a cold day, this meal made me feel like it was July in Buffalo. In my opinion, this is true comfort food and I was feeling mighty comfortable. I was also feeling pretty proud that I didn't binge. Then, out of the corner of my eye I saw that they sold homemade teddy bars and I knew I NEEDED one. I may have ate more than I wanted to, but it was worth it!
