Whenever I'm in the mood for a Texas Hot Dog or, as we like to call it a slider, this is the place. Can't beat it! Great breakfast as well. Service is always excellent. The ambiance is great. I stopped here for the first time ever today. I've been wanting to get here for a long time. It's on Abbott Road near Ridge Road. There are parking spots just past the building and behind the building. The woman who took my order was friendly and kind. I sat at the counter and ordered six Texas hots with all of the toppings. (The sign on the front window said buy five get one free.) I ordered fries as well. They were great but I was hoping for a larger serving. I sat at the front counter to order. They have tables and booths as well. In between the booths, they have plastic for Covid. Everything came to $17.36, which I was fine with. (Everything is so expensive nowadays, I'm sure.) Great diner.!! Had a great breakfast. Had a feta omelette with home fries and toast. I use some Texas sauce on it,mmm tasty. My bride had eggs and home fries and toast and coffee. The cook, waitress, cashier was pleasant. Menu looks good, nice variety and pricing is very reasonable. I coming back tomorrow. read more

Does anyone know how to spell Soulvaki? Seriously. It's really easy to spell Slovaki, people. I mean seriously. It's S-L-O-O-V-O-K-A-I. There is nothing I like more on a chilly windless night than a good Souvalki. If only they made Slovakia like this in my home town of Bratislava. Speaking of braless lovers, I have a story to tell you about this South Buffalo girl I know. Oh, hold on a second. OK, that was Alex calling. He said I'm not allowed to tell you that story on Yelp. Instead I will move swiftly along and start telling you about this eatery instead. What to get: A Texas Hot. What else is good: Souvlaki. Abbott Texas Red Hots. This is false advertising. It's not on Abbott, it's not in Texas, the storefront is not red, and nobody that works here has the hots for me. OK, it is on Abbott. So I'll let them off. This time. And the hairy guy in the back has the hots for everyone. So maybe I was way off target. Speaking of being way off target, I originally found this place when looking for Target, which is miles away. OK, that's not really true. Anyway, back to the restaurant. I just got a message from this inappropriately dressed girl in Bratzaslovers. That town famous for a very low age of consent. Oh wait. It's not a real girl. It's ABBOTT. This is one of my favourite hot dogs in town. It's delicious and yummy! It tastes a bit like Zorba's, but is sometimes even better than Zorba's. I haven't been here a lot because it's so far from where I live. It's insanely cheap. The owner's fave movie is apparently the Hugh Grant classic, ABBOTT a Boy. I have now tried their Chicken Souvlaki too and it is absolutely awesome! Really wonderful Souvlaki and cheap too! One of the best places in town :) It's not quite as marinaded as the ones at Towne and Alton's, but it's extremely delicious and cheaper than almost any other option. By the way the best souvlaki sandwich in town is at Pete's Greek Isles in Boulevard Mall. You may have seen people eating their food around and ABBOTT. Buffalo Hot Dogs are something special. There's Ted's of course, and it's very good, but there are so many others, which are even more "Buffalonian", Louie's is the most famous one, but better versions are the luscious Zorba's, the dreamy Abbott, the heavenly Hot Dog Heaven, the Rochester import Bill Gray's and the Batavia import Pauly's... Ted's aside, which is a char-grilled different story, this is what Buffalo dogs are: they are snappy, delicious hot dogs, slathered in onions and an almost-bitter, almost-Chilli like meat sauce which, if done properly, is warm, filling, comforting, and absolutely sinfully delicious. It's the same sort of "meat sauce" that you might find slathered over a Rochester Garbage Plate. If you get a chance to try one of these, do not pass it up, because it's just that good. Oh, the owner's other fave movie is the one with those blue aliens... ABBOTTar. Their burgers are absolutely delicious too. Next time I go I have to try some more things off their extensive, cheap menu! You can often see celebs in here, such as ABBOTT and Costell. I have also tried their chili, which was okay, average, and edible, and their chilled monkey brain, which is even better than the time I was force-fed it on that market in Mexico City while they dressed me up as a mailman and made me dance to Feargal Sharkey. The quintessential "hole in the wall" greasy spoon. You can get "slime dogs" anywhere in Buffalo but not everyone uses Sahlens. Those make the best "slime dogs". I can put away at least 3 in a sitting. Grilled to perfection, slathered in mustard, white onion and then the Texas dog sauce. Crispy French fries that on take out are put in a brown paper bag. When my mom made her home made fries she would shake with salt in a brown bag, the way they do it. There is always a crowd in this little place attesting to the great food. Typical fare, toasted sandwiches, soup, chili you name it. Definitely the place to go. read more

Best beef and barley soup I've ever had, Texas red hots dog was good with its slightly spicy sauce, mustard, and onions. Egg salad sandwich was big and fresh but needed some seasoning. Grilled ham and cheese was tasty. Chocolate shake is easily enough for two people. Solid service and I enjoyed hearing the locals chatting with the cook. read more

So me and my dad came in to get some of their Texas sauce to go because we wanted to put it on our grilled burgers at home, but when we asked for that, they acted appalled, like it was common sense that you couldn't order it (something you could order there before according to my dad nonetheless). They were so appalled at the concept that we wanted to give them our money that the lady who was cleaning had to stop what she was doing to walk behind that counter to join in and say "It don't work like that", like we didn't get the point already from the guy who was already behind the counter. So we settled to stay and eat there, and their food was barely mediocre. I ordered a fry, a burger, and hot dog and nothing was worthwhile. The worst thing on my plate was the hot dog, which is weird because the entire restaurant is named after it. It was short and plump, and it did not taste grilled. Another review here says that they use Sahlens, but I can assure you that what ever I ate that day was not a Sahlens. The only thing that saved the hot dog from being REALLY horrible was the delicious sauce, so I'll give them that, their Texas sauce IS great. It's honestly the only thing that's saving me from giving them a 1 star. When we came up to the counter to pay after we were done the same lady who was cleaning was the cashier and didn't say "Goodbye" or "Thank you" after everything was done. She just looked down making it awkward. Obviously this isn't the worst thing that could happen, but tacked on with the other bad service we received, it's still worth noting. Our experience with the service was insanely bizarre, the best way I can put it into words is that it was like we were a bunch of outsiders walking into a bar in the Wild West for the first time. Like you know that scene in Wild West movies when the guy who's "not from around there" walks into a bar and everybody in the bar goes quiet and they all look up at him with stern, dirty looks? Best Red Hots Sauce by far. Just like the old Jimmy's. Good soups, and the breakfast has the really good (and plenty) home fries.

May actually be the saddest place on earth. Our miserable waitress barely managed to plunk down a completely made from frozen meal of tasteless burger, hot dog, and clearly canned texas sauce, after snarling at us when I was stupid enough to ask what comes on the burger.
