I took advantage of the free diagnostic offer on the store page to confirm my suspicions about a custom build I put together. The store is very clean, and everyone I have spoken to has been friendly. They pay attention to what you are saying, and as a result, you receive answers in a way that isn't insulting. Whereas I was having to discuss the problems my computer was exhibiting, I heard other customers simply describe their problems as "my computer is loud like a fridge." Despite the vague explanation, the man at the front desk was very friendly, which left a good impression with me. Tech support is much like automotive work in that you have to place faith in the work and workers to be honest if you aren't well versed, and from my experiences thus far, I would easily recommend these folks to anyone that can't seem to troubleshoot their own issues. read more

This company has the worst customer service you have ever experienced. No one calls and talks to you, only automated responses. If they do call, it's days later, and when it's convenient for them, with zero concern for the business. Then, when you do tell them at a convenient time, they don't call. Then I keep getting messages that if I don't contact them, they are going to close out the ticket. DO NOT USE this company unless you want to rip your hair out and have a computer that never works. read more

As a long-standing client through our law firm, we've been extremely disappointed with the decline in service since the company's change in ownership. Despite our many years of loyalty, the new management has shown little regard for the history and needs of our account. Operations are now being managed remotely from out of state, and we've experienced repeated issues with unresponsive agents -- many of whom are not at their computers during calls, are difficult to hear, or unable to provide meaningful support. Nearly all of the previous knowledgeable staff have left, and the lack of continuity has made what should have been a straightforward transition unnecessarily frustrating. It's unfortunate to see such disregard for long-term clients and a serious breakdown in basic client service standards. read more

Techvera is a help desk for the company I contract for. I needed help in resolving a password issue for my email. I emailed them 24 hours ago and I have not recieved any response, none, zero , nada! I would expect some professional responce such as , we are working on it, we will get back to you, anything. I can not issue any mission critical worksheets until this issue is resolved and they can't issue the minimal communication. I am confident that they have no issue sending and collecting their bill. DO NOT take your computer here unless you want your laptop to have more problems going out than coming in. The cooling fan in my laptop stopped working. I took it to Geeks on Wheels to fix it, and they said it would take a couple days. After about a week, I hadn't heard from them, so I called and they said the parts they needed hadn't arrived yet, but they would come in the next day. The next day they call with it ready, but when I come to pick it up, they informed me that while they were fixing the fan, my touch pad stopped working. They acted like it wasn't their fault, even though everything on my laptop was fully functional except for the cooling fan when I brought it in. Thankfully they gave me a wireless mouse for free which was nice, but less convenient than my touch pad. This would have been well and good except for the fact they didn't tell me they also broke my CD drive in the process, but instead left it as is for me to find out later. Terrible experience and I will not be taking my laptop back there ever again. read more

Certainly not a horrible overall experience, yet when I took my laptop in for repairs the communication was terrible. I was told 1 week which kept adding weeks every time I called (with no explanation of the problem) until I finally asked for it back 5 weeks later. Not a good experience. Took our business computer in first thing yesterday. The guy working the front desk promised we'd have it by end of the day today. We didn't want to leave it without that assurance. Called this afternoon and they hadn't even STARTED on it! Said it would be TWO MORE DAYS!!! Now I have to take it somewhere else.... I've brought a couple of different laptops to these folks over the past 2-3 years. Every time, they fix the error, call me with results, and charge what I think is a reasonable fee for the services and parts. I used to think I had to scrap a misbehaving laptop. Now I take my machines to these folks. I also get the sense that they don't try to upsell things you don't need, so that gives me confidence in their services. Sure, I wish I was better technically so I could do this stuff myself. Reality being what it is, I need someone's help, and these folks are quite good. read more

Got a personal phone call from the owner apologizing for my experience and offering a refund. Went to the store and they fixed the further hardware issues, as well as doing better than a refund for what I paid. I appreciate the customer service fix. While I probably won't go here again due to me relocating soon, they're worth a shot for simple problems. read more

Geeks on Wheels literally saved our wedding day this past weekend. We were planning on using my laptop for our music and had spent hours on making and curating playlists on my Dell. The day before we left for our wedding weekend, my Dell wouldn't turn on and I got the 7 beeps of death that morning. We called and they said to bring it right in and even though my laptop is now dead, Jim was able to pull off all of our music from our hard drive in less than 2 hrs. I took my desktop computer in because it would shut down immediately after booting up. They could not diagnose the problem. I took it home, and figured out on my own that the water cooler had died, and the cpu was shutting down to protect itself from overheating. I replaced the cooler, and now it runs like new! I don't know why I wasted my time and money. read more

Horrible service.I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They said they would credit my repair of my laptop for $40(diagnose fee) and it should cost $60ish but actually end up charging me $160 for a jack issue. Heck, It would have been cheaper to buy a new laptop. My issue wouldn't the cost(though it was really high), my issue was that I walk in thinking it would cost $60 and it came out costing $160. They people are nice but I wouldn't recommend them. The service is 150 an hours? No one told me this. The manager waived some of the cost because of the lack of communication but sadly, I'm STILL displeased. The company should take steps in THOROUGHLY communicating everything. . . but especially the cost. read more

I took my laptop in because the LCD cable appeared to be going out causing my screen to only show about 30% unless light pressure was applied. They called quite promptly to tell me it was definitely the cable and that my LCD was in pristine condition, so I paid to order the part. They replace the part. Now my LCD does not work AT ALL (no light, no partial screen, nothing) AND my audio jack is all crackly, which was not a problem prior to the work. They said my LCD now needs to be replaced, which is a 10-fold cost operation from the previous (manageable, though annoying) problem. I only give 2 stars instead of 1 star because they did not charge me labor for something that didn't fix my problem and continued to offer to look into it. To be honest, though, I'm pretty fed up with how things are run when they're fine with handing me a laptop back in far worse condition than it was in when I gave it to them. If a part is broken during repairs (i.e., it was working better when I took it to get it fixed), that seems like something that should be fixed at no cost to myself. If I wanted to risk a broken LCD during repairs, I'd have ordered the part and tried to fix it myself. I will certainly be taking my repair business elsewhere from now on. Edit: I also just realized that the sensor that indicates if my Wifi receiver is on or off has been disabled as well (I suppose I should be thankful the button itself still functions). I was desperate when my computer started to choke on a Sunday. They were able to do a diagnosis and call me with the news that it was beyond repair and would need to be replaced. I had a backup computer that needed a tuneup and I rushed it over and they had it updated and the data transferred and ready to go on Monday morning. I also have a student who didn't have a car who was having problems with his very expensive computer--he's a gamer and has a custom-built computer that was only 9 months old. They looked at it for him and said the motherboard was dying. Rather than sell him a new motherboard they noticed the computer was less than a year old and told him to contact the manufacturer and ask for a replacement. This student is kind of shy so they counseled him on what to say and to also insist they pay for shipping. I was so impressed in how they helped this young man when they knew he wasn't going to be spending big bucks with them. Turns out he was able to get a replacement motherboard from the manufacturer of his computer, saving him a lot of money. read more

If you are using a Mac, these guys are certainly not the Genius Bar at Apple. They are cheaper I guess. Not really sure about their service, but I agree that communication is not the best and you have to contact them if you want to see how things are progressing. They eventually gave us a diagnosis, but their estimate was so high that we chose to self-repair. read more

It is hard to start this review because we have had such excellent service from GOW (Geek on Wheels). We have an IMac and a macbook pro and they have serviced both. They replaced the screen in the macbook and eliminated the viruses, and worked extensively with my daughter to help her get the best computing experience possible. My Imac completely went gray screen on me and through their research, they found out I was still under warranty and called for me to take it to the genius bar as it would be a better deal for me. They saved me over 300.00 dollars. They are a pleasure to work with, they listen, they can comprehend a non-geeks uninformed ramblings about computer problems, and they do the work when they say they will. GOW rocks!! read more
