Looked up online various mechanics in this new to me area. I needed an oil service and complete inspection on my Porsche. While running errands, I saw the Techstar Euro Car Masters building. So, I stopped in for a meet and greet and to see the shop. Nice shop, easy to ask person (Amreek) about what my vehicle needed, get a ball park price on that service etc. A few days later I called and set up an appointment. All went great. The pictures of what my vehicle may need down the road, with no pressure or scare tactics and so on, also appreciated. I had an appointment for some repairs on my car and I showed up on time. First, the office is a total dive and poorly maintained. I spoke with the man at the front desk regarding my appointment. He then had me fill out the customary forms that I expected and told me that the "diagnostic" fee would be $195. I agreed and sat in the customer lounge. I waited for some time and then I was told "I'm sorry, but we can't help you today as our technician called in sick". Why did you even have me fill all this paperwork out knowing your employee had called in sick? I then asked if I could come in the next day and I was told no. I was told that they wouldn't be able to assist me for a couple of weeks. Don't go there. read more

Hands down the best repair shop in town. My car needed an engine and Peter got me the best price. Installed the used engine and tested the car before returning it to me. Do not waste your time here. Called one week prior to bringing my car in and they gave me an estimate on the repairs that needed to be done. I brought the car in, I had to tow it in because it was overheating. Upon arrival the owner was very rude, we checked the car and he said he did not want to be involved in fixing the car. He questioned me about who I spoke to unfortunately I did not get the name (my fault), but he proceeded to bring his two employees over to check the car out. The two employees had burritos in their hands eating while checking my car. He told me to leave with my car and next time make an appointment when the person on the phone had told me to come in and they'd have it done in two days with the quote and everything. The owner then proceeds to saying "we will not work on this car" he walks away from me as he says take it somewhere else I don't want that car here. I told him how sad it was that he could not even get his customer service skills down which he responds to by saying "yeah, we are shit." As he said that another customer comes in and tells me "well he's upset" I talked to the customer and asked him if he had an appointment. He said "no, they told me just to come in" hmmm sounds familiar doesn't it. I wished the guy good luck, but don't come here. No customer service skills at all. read more

Peter and Johanna are such warm people. From my first phone inquiry to meeting them in person, my experience with them was absolutely positive. When I first purchased my used car two years ago, I got a quote from the dealership about all the things that might need work. My starter and battery were two of the things on the list, which they said would need replacing soon. I hadn't experienced anything wrong with the car, and when I took my car to other places for maintenance (oil change, etc), many people would tell me that my battery was in great shape. Still, I'm new to this, and I thought the dealership is where you went you wanted things done right, and they wouldn't have said something was wrong with my car if it wasn't true. (How wrong I was) My car wouldn't start a few days ago, so my first thought was it was the starter or my battery since it was on the to-fix list from the dealership. It wasn't either of those things, it was just a chip in my key that was creating interference, I had a big metal key charm on it from the previous owner. These are very honest people who will not make you pay for something you do not need. When my car was ready on Tuesday, I wanted to get it smogged as my vehicle registration was due on Friday. Peter did a few checks to make sure my car wouldn't fail beforehand and suggested that I drive my car for at least 100 miles to make sure as is well. As I mentioned, I'm new to this, and I didn't understand why but Peter assured me it was in my best interest (he explained why in detail) and that he doesn't do work like that. He didn't want to take a chance of my car failing the smog and having to pay for a re-smog. I waited, came back today, and it passed (just in time). I just purchased a 2001 BMW Z3 and needed a brake job, oil change, and some minor body work done. Upon arriving to Techstar, I first met Neil, who was very friendly and helpful in discussing with me the items I wanted done to my car. I also noticed how organized, professionally run, and clean the shop was. I left my car to be worked on and the next day I got a phone call asking me to give them permission to order parts and do the work. Upon returning to Techstar to pick up my car a few days later, I had the pleasure of meeting Owners Peter and Johanna who are absolutely delightful! While paying my bill (which was very fair for this type of work on a BMW and they gave me a 10% discount for first time customer) Peter and Johanna shared with me how they had come from Lebanon 30 years ago and had made a wonderful life here in the U.S. Their story was very inspirational and a model for immigrants from all over the World. I have been taking my Mercedes E350 to Techstar for the last 5 years, when the original warranty expired. Every time when i went to dealer , they would charge me arm and legs for some services that really didn't need to be performed. Yes you were getting free water, soda and cookies and fancy waiting area. But in reality you were paying for all that. I was lucky to find this repair shop. Peter was the 4th mechanic I had look at my 2004 BMW. Initially I called him to change my engine out based on what the other 3 mechanics had discovered. One of the previous mechanics I took the car to was the BMW dealership it cost me over $400 to get half a diagnosis. When I called Peter he diagnosed the car with 1/4 of the cost and had the correct diagnosis. The engine was good it actually needed other repairs. I had Peter repair my vehicle, a vehicle I was ready to throw in the towel on. I picked up the car yesterday and it is running like a BMW should run, fast and smooth. I am new to the area and typically do all of my own car work. I had an issue that I had thought I fixed, but turned out to make it worse (oil drip). Brought it in after talking to Peter on the phone and he assured me they'll take a look and get it fixed. Talked to Neil who I think was one of the head mechanics for about 20 minutes waiting for my car to be dropped off. He was able to diagnose the problem before the car was even there. He called me an hour after drop off telling me the problem. Told him to fix it. He had it done the same day by close. He personally tore the car apart then went to the bmw dealership to pick up my new valve cover and gaskets. All in all I will be going back there for as long as I own any european vehicles!
